Amara's breath caught.
Alexander pulled back slightly so that he could look into her eyes. "You are my mate. Nothing I say will make that truth clearer than what you will feel for yourself."
He waited.
In that moment, Amara somehow understood what he was asking without needing him to explain further.
She was nervous.
She had never imagined this moment would come, certainly not after everything she had believed over the past few days.
Yet she was not afraid of him.
She trusted him. But more importantly, she wanted him. So she gave him a small nod.
Alexander leaned toward her and kissed her. The first touch of his lips was gentle. He did not rush her.
He gave her every opportunity to pull away, but she didn't. After a moment, she closed her eyes and responded to him.
The kiss deepened naturally, carrying all the things they had left unsaid for so long.
The uncertainty that had separated them over the past several days began to disappear.
