{Third Person}
Amara stared at Alexander as if the room had shifted beneath her feet.
His words, 'You are my mate', continued to echo in her mind.
She had spent days believing that another woman had entered his life.
She had convinced herself that she would eventually have to step aside, accept whatever place remained for her, and learn to live with the fact that the man she had come to love belonged to someone else in a way that she could never compete with.
Yet Alexander stood before her, telling her she was the woman he had been searching for all these years.
It was too much to understand at once.
"Your Highness," she finally said, her voice barely above a whisper, "how is that possible?"
Alexander watched her carefully. He could see she wasn't questioning him because she doubted his sincerity. She simply could not reconcile what he had told her with everything she believed about herself.
So, he reached for her hand. "Come."
