Chapter 3 - Chapter 3 — Unspoken Feelings

Evening settled slowly over the apartment.

The sky outside the tall windows shifted from warm orange to deep blue, the city lights beginning to sparkle one by one. Inside, the apartment glowed softly with lamplight and the quiet hum of life continuing as usual.

But something had changed.

No one said it out loud, yet everyone could feel it the tension surrounding them

The conversation from earlier still lingered in the air like an unfinished sentence.

Namjoon's opportunity.

Months overseas.

The possibility of everything changing.

Jimin sat curled up on the couch with his phone in his hands, though he wasn't actually looking at it. His thumb moved across the screen occasionally, but his mind was somewhere else.

Across the room, Taehyung lay on the floor staring at the ceiling, one arm draped over his eyes.

Jungkook and Yoongi occupied the dining table with their laptops open, quietly discussing something work-related. Jin was in the kitchen preparing dinner, humming softly as he chopped vegetables.

And Hoseok moved between everyone like a warm current, checking on things, offering small smiles, keeping the apartment comfortable.

Namjoon sat beside Yoongi, focused on an email.

Every now and then he and Yoongi exchanged quiet comments about the project.

"Did they send the contract details?" Yoongi asked.

Namjoon nodded slightly.

"Earlier this afternoon."

"Hmm."

Jimin heard the conversation.

He tried not to listen.

But he couldn't help it.

"…three months minimum," Namjoon said quietly.

Jimin's chest tightened.

Taehyung shifted on the floor.

"Three months?" Yoongi repeated.

"Possibly longer depending on the project phase."

Jimin finally looked up from his phone.

"Three months is a long time."

The room went still for a moment.

Namjoon looked toward him.

"It's not confirmed yet."

"But it's likely," Jimin replied.

His tone wasn't angry but sad

Just quiet.

Namjoon nodded slowly.

"Yes."

Jimin looked down again.

"Oh."

Taehyung removed his arm from his eyes and glanced toward the table.

"You've already started planning it."

Namjoon frowned slightly.

"I'm just reviewing the information."

"But it sounds like you're already saying yes."

"That's not what I said."

Jungkook glanced between them.

The tension was subtle but noticeable.

Hoseok noticed it immediately.

He walked into the living room carrying a small plate of sliced fruit and gently placed it on the coffee table.

"Snack break," he announced lightly.

No one moved.

Hoseok looked between Jimin and Taehyung.

"Come on. Eat something he said with a smile on his or I will be sad

Taehyung sighed but pushed himself up from the floor and grabbed a strawberry.

Jimin took one too.

But neither of them smiled.

Back at the table, Yoongi quietly closed his laptop.

"I think we're making them nervous."

Namjoon rubbed his temples.

"That wasn't my intention."

Jungkook leaned back in his chair.

"It's just a lot to process."

Jin called from the kitchen.

"Dinner will be ready soon!"

Normally that would have lifted the mood.

Tonight it didn't quite work.

Taehyung leaned back against the couch beside Jimin.

"You'd miss his birthday," he said suddenly.

Namjoon blinked.

"What?"

Taehyung nodded toward Jimin.

"Three months."

Jimin shifted uncomfortably.

"You didn't have to say that."

"But it's true."

Namjoon's expression softened.

"I didn't realize the timeline lined up like that."

Jimin shrugged.

"It's fine."

But it clearly wasn't.

Hoseok sat beside them on the couch.

"Hey."

Both omegas looked at him.

"We haven't made any decisions yet," Hoseok said gently.

Taehyung sighed.

"I know."

"But it feels like everyone else is already deciding."

Jungkook raised an eyebrow.

"Everyone?"

Taehyung gestured toward the table.

"The alpha council over there."

Yoongi snorted.

"That's not a thing that even exists

"It looks like a thing."

Namjoon sighed.

"We're just discussing logistics."

Jimin hugged a pillow closer to his chest.

"It still feels like you're leaving."

"I'm not leaving you."

"But you'd be gone."

Namjoon didn't immediately respond.

And that silence said more than words.

Jimin's voice dropped slightly.

"You guys always talk about work like it's the most important thing."

Jungkook frowned.

"That's not fair."

"I didn't say it was bad," Jimin replied quickly.

"I just… feel like we don't really fit into those conversations."

Taehyung nodded quietly.

"Yeah."

Namjoon leaned forward.

"You do fit."

"Do we?" Taehyung asked.

The question wasn't aggressive.

Just honest.

Hoseok watched the emotions slowly surfacing.

Jealousy.

Fear.

Uncertainty.

Yoongi spoke calmly.

"This project isn't about choosing work over you."

"But it feels like that," Jimin admitted softly.

Namjoon's shoulders slumped slightly.

"I don't want you to feel like that."

Hoseok reached out and gently squeezed Jimin's hand.

"We're all just adjusting to new information."

Jimin nodded, but his expression remained troubled.

Taehyung rested his head on Hoseok's shoulder.

"You're not going anywhere, right Hobi?"

Hoseok chuckled softly.

"I live here."

"Good."

Namjoon watched the interaction quietly.

Something twisted in his chest.

The omegas leaned toward Hoseok instinctively when they felt uncertain.

Not because they loved the alphas less.

But because Hoseok was the emotional center.

The calm point between everyone.

Jungkook suddenly stood.

"Okay this is getting too serious."

Everyone looked at him.

"Let's eat before Jin throws a spoon at us."

As if on cue, Jin appeared in the doorway.

"I heard that."

Dinner was served minutes later.

The table filled with food and conversation again.

But the earlier tension hadn't completely disappeared.

Jimin sat beside Hoseok.

Taehyung sat on his other side.

Across the table Namjoon tried to act normal, though his thoughts were clearly busy.

Jungkook and Jin argued about seasoning.

Yoongi quietly observed everyone.

Halfway through dinner, Jimin spoke again.

"Hobi?"

"Yes?"

"If someone had to leave… would the relationship still work?"

The question landed softly but heavily.

Everyone paused.

Hoseok thought for a moment.

"Relationships change," he said carefully.

"But distance doesn't automatically break them."

Taehyung frowned slightly.

"But it makes things harder."

"Yes."

Namjoon finally spoke.

"I would come back as often as possible."

Jimin looked at him.

"But it wouldn't be the same."

"No," Namjoon admitted.

The honesty hurt.

Hoseok placed a hand gently on Jimin's shoulder.

"Nothing about us has ever been simple."

That made Yoongi smile faintly.

"Accurate."

Jungkook nodded.

"We're literally seven people dating each other."

Jin added proudly,

"An impressive accomplishment."

Taehyung laughed weakly.

"World record."

The tension softened slightly again.

But Hoseok could still feel the undercurrent of emotions moving beneath everything.

This wasn't a fight.

Not yet.

But misunderstandings were beginning to grow.

And if they weren't careful…

Those small feelings could turn into something bigger.

Hoseok glanced around the table.

Seven hearts.

Seven perspectives.

And right now…

They weren't fully aligned.

But they would be.

He just needed to guide them there.

Slowly.

Patiently.

Together
