Chapter 1 - The Light of Guru Nanak

The Birth of Divine Light

In the year 1469, in the peaceful village of Nankana Sahib, a child was born who would change the spiritual course of humanity forever. This child was Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism and the first of the Ten Sikh Gurus.

The world at that time was divided by caste, religious conflict, superstition, and injustice. Society separated people by birth rather than character. The poor were oppressed, and spirituality had become trapped in rituals rather than truth.

From childhood, Guru Nanak Dev Ji showed signs of deep wisdom. While other children played, he questioned the meaning of life, God, and human existence. His teachers soon realized that this was no ordinary child.

A Mind Beyond Boundaries

Young Nanak refused to accept discrimination between Hindu and Muslim communities. He believed that all humans were equal before one Creator.

When asked about religion, he spoke words that shocked society:

"There is no Hindu, there is no Muslim — all are children of One God."

His message was simple yet revolutionary:

Believe in one Creator (Ik Onkar)

Earn honestly

Remember God through devotion

The Divine Experience

At the age of thirty, Guru Nanak Dev Ji disappeared while bathing in the river Bein River. For three days, he was unseen. When he returned, his face radiated peace and enlightenment.

He declared that he had experienced divine truth and had been chosen to spread God's message across the world.

From that moment, his life became a mission — not to create another religion, but to unite humanity under truth, compassion, and justice.

The Beginning of a Journey

Leaving behind worldly comforts, Guru Nanak Dev Ji began long spiritual journeys known as Udasis. Alongside his loyal companion Bhai Mardana, he travelled across nations spreading the message of equality and love through hymns and dialogue.

These journeys would lay the foundation of a new spiritual path — Sikhism.

The light had appeared.A revolution of faith had begun.
