Chapter 7 - 7- Little Hunter

The next day, Raven was moving through the forest, setting out immediately after the second moon had set. He hunted wolves to level up, and was now close to level five. He also discovered that the day in this world consisted of fourteen hours: four hours of night (when the two moons rise) and ten hours of day (when there was only one moon). It couldn't really be called daytime, though, because the sun here is the moon that illuminates the world.

After killing a pack of wolves, he sat on the ground, wiping his sword. "This forest is so vast. I can't move around recklessly. Even if I don't encounter any monsters, I could get lost in such a desolate place."

He had been thinking for some time about creating a simple map of the area to help him find his way around and to explore the forest and search for the egg he needed to destroy to complete his mission.

"Most importantly, I need food." He was hungry, but not to the point of being life-threatening. After all, when he was on Earth, he lived in the Exile Zone where he barely got any food. Sometimes days would pass without him eating anything but spoiled scavenged food, so he hadn't worried about it at first. But now he realized he needed to be at his best. He didn't know what dangers he might face.

After cleaning his sword, he got up and decided to look for food. "Hmm, in this forest there are two ways to get food. The first is to gather fruit from the trees, but I don't think I'll eat it..." He looked at these strange trees, whose branches moved at night, and the fruit looked like blue melons with protruding bumps, so he suspected it might be poisonous or pose some kind of danger to his health.

"Well, the other way is to hunt animals. In such a huge forest, there must be some edible animals." The last time he had eaten something, it was armored beast meat, and he could only eat a little because it was very tough and difficult to chew.

Time passed as he searched for something edible, but all he saw were zombie wolves. He didn't kill any of them either, because they no longer granted him experience points until he killed a lot of them, and he didn't want to move around while he was hungry.

After three hours, while cautiously searching different parts of the forest, he found an animal that looked like a rabbit, but it was golden and had A blue flame ran along its back, and a small horn adorned its head. "A rabbit? Well, it looks edible."

Raven drew his sword and cautiously approached the small creature, careful not to sense his presence and cause it to flee. The animal quickly noticed Raven's approach, but instead of running away, it did something strange: it turned towards Raven and lowered its head. "Huh, why is the..."

Before he could finish his sentence, a lightning bolt shot from the rabbit's horn and struck Raven directly in the shoulder. He fell to the ground, trying to extinguish the flames, but the rabbit followed with several more lightning bolts before sprinting away. Raven easily dodged them.

"Damn it," Raven stood, looking at his shoulder. It was slightly burned, but what bothered him most was that his shirt had also caught fire. "I have to find a way to catch this bastard," he thought, feeling annoyed and angry. Even a tiny creature like this had managed to hurt him.

At the end of the day, before the second moon rose, Raven managed to locate the breeding grounds for these rabbits, but he didn't attempt to hunt any of them because night was approaching.

This world was very strange. Daytime was far less dangerous than nighttime. Yes, there were very powerful creatures during the day, but at night everything went mad. Fierce battles broke out between the creatures of this land, and only the strongest survived.

Even The wolves grew stronger and more ferocious at night. Raven estimated that he could only handle five or six wolves at night, so he retreated an hour or two before moonrise to ensure his safe return to his treehouse.

He climbed to his only safe haven in the world. This giant tree was his only source of security and companion in this terrifying place.

It wasn't long before a blood-red hue covered everything, and a giant, monstrous moon rose into the sky, an omen of doom for the world and a threat of annihilation for all living beings.

This time, Raven didn't take long to fall asleep, though his sleep was intermittent, broken only by the sounds of the monsters fighting.

***********

Early in the morning, he hid in a tree overlooking a vast expanse of rocks and stones of various sizes and shapes. At first, he was captivated by the beauty of the area, particularly the large number of colorful stones and the many golden hares that seemed to be munching on them.

Raven took hold of the bow he had obtained from the altar inside the cave. He had never used it before, as the first time he had ever held a bow was to practice against wolves. After a few attempts and testing himself, he discovered it was quite easy; he could even hit a wolf's head directly. Therefore, he concluded that the bow was the perfect tool for hunting these hares.

The rabbits didn't realize a small hunter was lurking. Raven was waiting for one of them to approach his hiding place, and it wasn't long before one came close, stopping near the tree where Raven was hiding.

It began eating a large rock, unaware of what lay above it. Raven drew his bow to the other side, then cut himself and focused on his target: the rabbit's head. Once he was sure he had hit his target, he released his hand, and the arrow flew swiftly, piercing the rabbit's head and killing it instantly.

"Haha, that's the first one. I'll catch two more to store away." He was happy because he was finally going to have some good food.

He killed two more rabbits and moved away. He didn't want the other rabbits to discover him. "Even though they're weak, what if they all attack me...?"

He realized he would be roasted alive. After all, these rabbits had fire arrows.

He didn't return to his hiding place alive.

Then he headed towards a small lake, surrounded only by a few creatures, which Raven avoided. He approached the lake undetected, using the tall grass to get close.

He took out a jar of water and filled it. He had found it in the bag on the altar. Then he began butchering the rabbits and washing off the blood. He stuffed the meat into the skin of one of the rabbits after skinning it and returned to his lair.

After some effort, he managed to light a small fire to roast the meat.

"Mmm, delicious. It just needs some seasoning." He savored the taste of the meat in his mouth. He had only eaten meat once or twice in his entire life, and then only after stealing it.

After finishing his meal, he stored the meat in another tree some distance away. "I don't want those creatures to be attracted to the smell of the meat."

"Now it's time to make a map." He thought long and hard about how to create a map, but he couldn't find anything suitable to draw or write on. So he gathered some stones that resembled charcoal and a red plant stem to use for writing.

"The rhinoceros-like beast, is its skin still there...?" He poked his head out of the tree and looked at the beast's carcass, then climbed down and headed towards it.

But unfortunately, only bones remained. "Then... I'll use my shirt... or what's left of it, along with some rabbit skin." He took off his shirt, torn in the front and burned at the shoulder; only the back was intact.

After cutting the skin into a square with his sword and tying it with some scraps of cloth from his torn shirt, he returned to his hiding place and began recording everything he had encountered up to that point.
