Chapter 8 - 8- Exploration

Three weeks have passed since Raven arrived in the forest. During this time, he has adapted significantly to his new life, exploring many areas of the forest. Some of these areas intrigued him, while others were terrifying. He nearly lost his life twice. Despite everything he has endured, he managed to level up to level six, as it has become increasingly difficult to find creatures stronger than the zombie wolves to gain experience points from.

After level five, it became extremely difficult to level up. Also, the wolves no longer granted any experience, perhaps due to the significant power difference.

Raven's strength had also increased significantly. He was now confident he could kill the bald man and the two others with him without putting himself in serious danger. Of course, he wasn't fully awake yet, but he simply felt stronger, more agile, and more resilient. This feeling was wonderful and incredibly refreshing, as he was used to a weak and ailing body that had always hindered him. Now, he could move and fight with great freedom, and his fighting talent began to emerge.

During this time, he discovered two strange things. The first was that monsters entered a state of weakness and lethargy immediately after the second moon disappeared, and this lasted for a full hour. This discovery was very important to him, as the forest would become very quiet, and the number of monsters would decrease considerably, making it easier for him to search and move around. He could also kill some creatures stronger than himself, albeit with difficulty, but his experience points were very high, so it was tempting for him to hunt some monsters during this hour.

The second thing was rather strange. In the direction where the second moon set, the deeper he ventured, the fewer monsters he encountered. Even the plants withered as he went further. But he couldn't go any deeper because he was already too far from his hiding place. He also intended to gather some materials to head towards this area. After all, he hadn't been able to find the egg's location even after a long search, and the monsters in this area were only giving him a little experience.

Early one morning, he was walking around carrying a small piece of leather. It was his shirt and a rabbit skin, which had become a map. It was covered with markings, writing, and drawings, indicating the location of rabbits for food, a drinking lake, and another place shaped like a bear. This place belonged to a bear-like monster with a blue coat and a yellow belly. It was enormous, nearly five meters tall, and slept inside a cave. One day, Raven decided to explore the cave. Despite his fear of encountering the nightmare, he decided to enter, hoping the egg he was searching for might be inside. But what surprised him was this giant bear. Upon seeing it, he decided to run away, but before he could move, he noticed the bear staring at him. At that moment, Raven's heart sank with fear. After all, it was so close; even if he ran as fast as he could, he wouldn't be able to escape.

But after a while, he noticed the bear looking at him with boredom. Then it closed its eyes and went back to sleep as if Raven were nothing more than an insect in its sight. Raven sighed with relief, turned, and left the cave.

There were also many scribbles on the map, marking forbidden areas and places that couldn't be entered. But what really stood out were two red dots with a skull above them. The first dot marked the cave where the shapeshifters lived with the monster he called Nightmare, and the second marked the giant, crocodile-headed beast.

"It's good they're far from my hiding place, even though Crocodile-Head has entered this area twice," he thought, glancing at a black circle on the map before closing it. "I must explore this area." Today was the last day to prepare himself and gather everything he needed to head to the area he called the Forbidden Zone.

During this time, he hunted five rabbits, dried the meat, and replenished his water supply. He also took some poisonous herbs he had discovered by chance while hunting the rabbits. These herbs were terrifyingly poisonous; any creature that ingested them would be paralyzed and die. He returned to his hiding place early, wanting to get a good night's sleep before nightfall. "So, this is the last one." "One day inside this tree." He closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep, not waking until the sounds of monster fighting began to rise.

**********

Raven moved quickly toward the forbidden zone. His mind was on reaching it as fast as possible, within the first hour of the morning, when the monsters would be at their weakest. Also, once he arrived, their numbers would decrease significantly.

As he moved, he encountered many monsters, which he avoided. As he continued, he heard a very loud explosion. His attention was drawn to a distant location where dust billowed high among the trees. He stopped, watching the scene unfold before him. The explosion was near the area he had explored, and it was the route he had planned to take. He had already determined his path, having scouted the area and confirmed its safety.

"Is it the same monster with the crocodile head...?" Because of the intensity of the explosion, he believed no monster could have caused such a powerful blast.

"I can't change course. I need to reach the restricted area quickly before nightfall." He cautiously advanced, gradually approaching the source of the explosion.

He drew closer to the sound of the fighting until he was a safe distance away. Perched on a tree branch high enough to conceal himself, he observed the situation. There was a living creature.

Two beasts fought fiercely. One resembled the armored rhinoceros he had seen before, and the other was a gigantic snake, dark purple in color and with sharp fangs.

The battle raged, but there was no clear victor. Every time the snake tried to bite the armored beast, he dodged or deflected it with his armor, then retaliated with a swift and ferocious attack using his horns. The fight lasted a full half hour, during which Raven gained a complete understanding of the two beasts' abilities. The snake was incredibly fast and agile. Its attacks consisted of bites, using its tail to strike its opponent, and sometimes attempting to seize and crush it.

But the armored beast was very clever. Every time the snake tried to bite or strike, it used its armored back to deflect the attack. Its attacks also consisted of biting and headbutting.

The two beasts didn't stop fighting even after a full hour. "Hmm, are they stupid? It doesn't matter who wins; if they continue fighting, they'll both die," both of them were suffering. Severe Injuries

At first, the armored beast was in control, but during his attempt to bite the snake, he failed, and the snake somehow managed to bite him. Within a few minutes, he could barely move due to the venom, which was clearly potent. At this moment, the snake seized the opportunity to strike and bite the beast repeatedly to confirm its victory. However, it paid a heavy price. In its triumph, as it sank its fangs into him, he turned and viciously bit its head. It was a very powerful bite, managing to crush a small part of the snake's head.

The snake frantically lashed at him with its tail as it tried to escape. The armored beast didn't hold on for long, letting it flee the battle and disappear from sight, leaving a trail of blood in its wake. The armored beast collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily. There were many injuries, but the bites were the most severe, and they clearly affected him, because every time he tried to walk, he would fall after a while. It wasn't long before his entire body was ravaged. Turning purple, the poison had clearly spread throughout his body, and he could barely open his eyes.

After several seconds, he could barely open them. "He's going to die. He's obviously finished. Heh, that was a really tough fight. Well, now I have to leave." He had wasted a lot of time standing there. First, he had to enter the restricted area, and second, he had to find a place to hide, so his time had been precious.

With that, he quickly climbed down from the tree, but before moving, he glanced back at the armored beast, which was breathing its last breaths. "If I kill it while it's like this, will I get experience points...? Or not? After all, the snake almost killed it...? I'll try." He sprinted toward the armored beast. When he stood before it, Raven realized how huge the beast was. It was truly gigantic, almost the size of an elephant.
