Chapter 1 - Birth of change

Year: 2090

Humanity had grown far beyond what anyone thought possible. Cities stretched into the clouds. Machines could think faster than a human brain. Medicine had conquered most diseases. Humans had sharpened reflexes and increased endurance. They could survive injuries that would have killed previous generations. But despite their progress, they remained blissfully unaware that they were no longer alone on their own planet.

Beneath the surface, in the shadows of society, a species older than humanity had awoken. These beings, the remnants of a civilization that had once dominated Earth, were small, nearly invisible, and capable of hiding within human bodies. The people carrying them saw nothing. Their machines saw nothing. Humanity was blind.

The government, aware of the threat far sooner than the public, began experiments on those infected by the parasitic species. They captured hundreds of humans, dissecting, analyzing, and observing. Most experiments ended in failure. The parasites were too cunning, too adaptable. They could survive every procedure, evolve faster than expected, and infiltrate the human population with terrifying efficiency.

Shiburu Island became the containment zone. All infected subjects were sent there, quarantined under the strictest measures. It was the government's first attempt to stop the outbreak. But they underestimated the parasites. By the time they discovered the creatures inside the humans, the infestation had already begun to spread. The humans who remained seemed normal, but the parasites had begun altering their bodies in subtle ways: sharper reflexes, stronger bones, faster healing.

Among the countless subjects, the scientists found one case that would change everything. A woman, examined like the others, appeared ordinary. They began their usual experiments—but she did not survive. Her body had been pushed too far.

When the scientists prepared to dispose of her, scans revealed something impossible: she had been carrying a child. The fetus had survived the experiments. Against all odds, the baby lived.

That child, unnamed, unknown, would become the focal point of both hope and terror.

Eight years later, the world had shifted. The parasites had evolved in response to the birth. Their aggression intensified. They became faster, stronger, more cunning. They were no longer subtle hunters—they were predators seeking something they could not yet understand.

The government, desperate to control the escalating threat, prepared to deploy the child, now a boy of eight, into the field. They believed he could be trained to fight, to end the growing menace.

But the woman who had raised him saw the danger in their plan. She understood the strength of the parasites now—their intelligence, speed, and aggression. Sending a child into that storm would not prepare him; it would destroy him.

So she made a choice. Defying everything she had been taught, defying the government that controlled her life, she ran. She took the boy far away from Shiburu Island, far from the laboratories and the scientists who sought to use him.

The child, still unaware of the destiny that awaited him, breathed his first free breath in a world that did not yet understand what he would become.

And somewhere, in the shadows, the parasites watched. They adapted. They evolved. They waited.

Because now, the balance had shifted

The game had begun.
