The government, aware of the threat far sooner than the public, began experiments on those infected by the parasitic species. They captured hundreds of humans, dissecting, analyzing, and observing. Most experiments ended in failure. The parasites were too cunning, too adaptable. They could survive every procedure, evolve faster than expected, and infiltrate the human population with terrifying efficiency.
Shiburu Island became the containment zone. All infected subjects were sent there, quarantined under the strictest measures. It was the government's first attempt to stop the outbreak. But they underestimated the parasites. By the time they discovered the creatures inside the humans, the infestation had already begun to spread. The humans who remained seemed normal, but the parasites had begun altering their bodies in subtle ways: sharper reflexes, stronger bones, faster healing.

So she made a choice. Defying everything she had been taught, defying the government that controlled her life, she ran. She took the boy far away from Shiburu Island, far from the laboratories and the scientists who sought to use him.
The child, still unaware of the destiny that awaited him, breathed his first free breath in a world that did not yet understand what he would become.
And somewhere, in the shadows, the parasites watched. They adapted. They evolved. They waited.
