Hiruzen Sarutobi sat in the Hokage chair, puffing on his pipe and exhaling a pale cloud of smoke.
As he looked at the Genin intelligence report in his hand, he shook his head and sighed, "Sigh."
Most of this year's Genin had already completed many D-rank missions, but Team 7 had not completed even one.
D-rank missions were all within the village and mostly involved finding lost dogs or cats, pulling weeds, or cleaning yards.
But at least they were still missions.
Yūgao Uzuki appeared instantly with a Body Flicker and knelt on one knee in front of Hiruzen Sarutobi as she reported respectfully.
"Report, Hokage-sama, Renji and the others have arrived."
She was in a very bad mood right now.
Renji and the others had eaten very happily earlier, but she stood beside them the whole time without any appetite.
After all, being held by Renji with a weakness was a very serious matter.
Because that was Renji.
"Mm," Hiruzen Sarutobi nodded slightly.
After delivering her report, Yūgao Uzuki disappeared again using the Body Flicker Technique.
The office door opened with a creak as Renji walked in first, followed by the rest of Team 7.
"Third Hokage old man, you're still alive after a few days," Renji said indifferently as he looked at Hiruzen Sarutobi, then smiled and raised a finger.
"I know a great shop. Their coffins are on special. If you need one, I can pay for it and order it for you."
Everyone in Team 7 was speechless.
Teacher Renji always taught them to respect the elderly, love the young, and be polite.
But what about Teacher Renji himself?
Was this what respecting the elderly looked like?
Was this what politeness looked like?
Hiruzen Sarutobi was not angry. He calmly smoked his pipe and replied warmly.
"Don't worry. As the Third Hokage, even if I'm already an old bag of bones, I still have the important duty of protecting the village."
He had been mocked by Renji many times before, so he was already used to it.
Renji casually sat down on the sofa, crossed his legs, and yawned, "Tell me, what's the mission?"
"Come in," Hiruzen Sarutobi said as he looked toward the door.
The members of Team 7 looked curiously as a plump woman dressed in expensive clothes and decorated with gold and silver jewelry entered the room.
Hiruzen Sarutobi smiled and introduced her, "This is the client. You can ask her about the mission details."
"Great, finally a mission!" Naruto shouted excitedly.
He had heard that only ninja who completed missions were considered truly capable ninja.
Sakura Haruno was also excited and slightly nervous at the same time. This was their first mission, and she was worried about making mistakes.
But since Teacher Renji, their Jonin team leader, was leading them, there should not be any problems.
"Hmph," Sasuke snorted quietly.
He was also somewhat looking forward to what kind of mission Team 7 would receive for their first assignment.
All members of Team 7 stood behind Renji and waited for the client to explain the mission details.
"Please, you must help me! My child is very obedient and has never left home. Someone must have taken him!" the plump woman cried as she sat opposite Renji while biting her handkerchief.
Sakura Haruno looked at the crying woman with concern and cautiously asked, "Excuse me, is your child missing?"
"It's this child, boo hoo hoo," the plump woman said as she took out a photo.
In the photo was a small white cat.
Team 7 fell silent.
