Chapter 9 - Ch.9. 1995 Mystery 2

Emma excused them and went back inside. They waited for her for a while, they heard conversation going on inside before she came back out in a plain white shirt, blue pants and blue jean jacket. She approached them almost in a hurry then slowed down. "Jake passed out in class earlier in class," she said. "He just got replaced as the team captain too."

Alex said in a shrug "That tragic," he was already bullied by Jake, so he has no remorse for any elite because they don't either.

"You should," Emma reminded him "Jolie was an elite too."

She looked at Adam who did not understand what they were talking about, she assured him it was nothing then gave Alex a cold stare. He composed himself immediately. She reached into her pocket and brought out a picture, neatly folded.

"We are heading to see him" she said pointing to the man in the photograph. There was an address at the back of the photograph, Alex wondered if he would still be there and Emma could read his face so she told him he would be there.

Somehow, Adam recognized him, he looked closer at the photograph "That Mr. Walker, he was a staff at TownPort High"

"We better get going."

It was a thirty minutes' drive from the outskirts of town; they took the bus which ended up at two rest stops during the ride. Alex was really hoping they do not miss Mr. Walker else all the sacrifices would be for nothing.

They finally reached a house with a stoned walkway and a water fountain; the water pattered slowly. He was sitting outside facing the balcony holding a cigarette. Probably, he was enjoying the view. He turned to see three visitors on his walkway, and he recognized Emma anytime and immediately a wide smile filled his face. He called "Emma,"

She responded in a big embrace in his arm "thank goodness we met you."

He freed her from his grip and looked at Alex and Adam and immediately put away the cigarettes, he asked "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"TownPort High doesn't do home visit." He added. He remembered telling Emma to pay him a visit only when it was about to happen. He looked at them in a demurred manner then he motioned them to come in.

"I was baking before you all showed up," he said as he offered them cake on the dining. He joined them too then asked, "How did this happen?"

Emma explained to him what happened to Jolie and Alex dream seeing 1995 Mystery which made Adam give Alex a cold stare for lying.

Mr. Walker didn't want to see them start a mini world war in his house so he said "if what you are saying is all true then I think you should know the actual story about the 1995 Mystery"

"What happened to what we were told?" Alex asked shocked

"It wasn't seven kids that went missing." He said without any atom of doubt. That gave Alex goosebumps immediately. Mr. Walker excused himself and went to his study; they heard rustling of pages and books; he came back with two books. One was slightly bigger than the other, but it had the same cover. He pointed to the bigger copy and said, "this is the original copy by an eyewitness Margaret."

"She told the story about what really happened, the greatest disaster in St. Brigid's Home for Children." He began.

"The revised copy says that after the seven kids disappeared the orphanage was closed but it's a lie," he said in a harsh tone then softened his voice.

"There was a catalyst, someone to bring whatever it was to roam our world freely and feed"

Alex looked puzzled, he found himself saying it "roam our world?"

"Yes." Mr. Walker response "It was a boy, he already told them that the five kids would vanish that night, but they didn't listen."

"When they realized the kids were gone, they said the boy had something to do with their disappearance."

"He knew that he couldn't bear it anymore," Mr. Walker said in a warning tone. "He also knew that it needed him to play with it to unleash it to our world,"

"Out of anger and rejection, he played with it, hell broke loose!" He flipped a page of the original copy and showed him her original words to read. Alex read it out loud "We came to the nursery that following day after he told me he played with it to get back at the orphanage and there were all gone, 20 kids disappeared last night"

"What happened to the boy?" Alex asked, scared at the number of children that went. Mr. Walker replied, "He hanged himself."

Adam added "This information is hidden from the public to control fear."

Alex just realized he might be the catalyst. It had killed before and his guessed the next victim would be Jake since he had the ball.

"Jake is the next target." He muttered

"Tomorrow, we headed back home," Adam said as he saw the sky had gotten darker. Mr. Walker took them to the guest room. Alex couldn't sleep; he knew he had to save Jake.
