Chapter 26 - Private Secretary!

After three years of living as a son-in-law, Jeff had now become the chairman of Horizon Group, and he felt a quiet thrill.

But his excitement did not come from the chairman position itself.

Having grown up in one of the world's wealthiest families, he was already tired of the feeling of being high and mighty.

What excited him was Victoria Lang—the vice president of Horizon Group—who had every powerful man in Riverforge infatuated with her!

Upon arriving at the lobby on the first floor of the building, Jeff reached the security checkpoint.

Riverforge was a major city, and its technological applications were among the best in the country. The access control system on the first floor already used fingerprint and facial recognition.

However, on Jeff's first day at work, his fingerprints and facial information had not yet been registered.

So Jeff took out the card that Butler Vance had given him, swiped it, and successfully passed through the access control on the first floor and entered the elevator.

Arriving at the floor where the chairman of Horizon Group was located, Jeff found the office empty. He used his key, opened the door, and went into his chairman's office to review the documents.

...

At the same time, the people Ryan Caldwell had sent to track Jeff had already reported back to him:

"Young Master Caldwell, Jeff has gone to the CBD building where Horizon Group is located."

"What?"

Ryan was still lying in bed when he heard that Jeff had gone to Horizon Group, and he was immediately puzzled.

"What is Jeff doing there? Yesterday, Ms. Lang said she would cut off all of Jeff's livelihoods. Could Jeff be going there to get revenge on Ms. Lang?"

Ryan had gotten Victoria Lang's phone number at Old Madam Harper's birthday banquet yesterday. As a man, he was also deeply attracted to Victoria Lang!

If he could spend even one night with Victoria Lang, he would be willing to lose ten years of his life!

Unfortunately, he knew that Victoria Lang would never be interested in him.

Ryan dialed Victoria Lang's number.

The phone rang several times before Victoria Lang answered, her voice still drowsy. "Who is it?"

Ryan smiled and said, "Ms. Lang, it's Ryan Caldwell. I toasted you at Grandma Harper's birthday banquet yesterday."

Victoria Lang said "Oh," and asked, "Young Master Caldwell, is there something you need calling so early?"

Ryan said anxiously, "Ms. Lang, do you still remember Jeff, the son-in-law of the Harper family? Yesterday we rallied together to support the Harpers and cut off his path to survival. This kid came to your company building early this morning. I bet he's trying to get revenge on you!"

Victoria Lang chuckled lightly. "Don't worry. There are access control and security guards in the building. He can't get in."

Ryan said, "The people I sent told me that the kid has a card and has already gotten through the access control to go upstairs! He might be hiding on your floor right now. If you go up there, your life could be in danger!"

"What? How does he have our company's card?"

Victoria Lang sat up in surprise, and the blanket covering her fell off, revealing her fair and delicate shoulders and arms.

If any man saw this scene, he would definitely get a nosebleed.

Ryan explained, "That kid stole the Harper family's watch and sold it for five million dollars. He's got money now. With so many people in your company, it's not strange for him to spend a little money to buy an access card."

"I'm so worried about you, Ms. Lang. You're so beautiful. If that bastard were to hurt you, it would be heartbreaking!"

Victoria Lang also became worried. "Thank you for reminding me. I will send someone to the company to check right away."

"Okay, I'll come to your company to help you right away, Sister Victoria..."

Taking this opportunity, Ryan changed his address to Sister Victoria.

Hearing Ryan's sycophantic attitude, Victoria Lang smiled faintly and said nothing.

Immediately afterward, Victoria Lang called her personal secretary, Rachel Brooks:

"Rachel, go to the company immediately and check if there are any suspicious people. If there are, call the police right away!"

...

Half an hour later.

A woman wearing a white shirt, black stockings, and a short skirt hurriedly walked into the Horizon Group building.

"Good morning, Secretary Brooks."

The security guards on duty stared at Rachel Brooks with wide eyes.

Although Rachel Brooks was inferior to Victoria Lang in every aspect, Victoria Lang was far beyond the reach of the security guards.

On the contrary, Rachel Brooks was the object of the building security guards' fantasies.

In addition, Rachel Brooks's identity as a secretary and her constant wearing of professional suits—much like a flight attendant—would inspire endless fantasies in men.

"Okay, okay."

Rachel Brooks gave a perfunctory answer and quickly got on the elevator.

Finally arriving at the floor where Jeff was, Rachel Brooks discovered that the door to this floor had been opened.

She thought it was one of her colleagues, but when she called out twice, no one answered.

Suddenly, she noticed someone sitting in the chairman's office!

"Is he the suspicious person that Ms. Lang mentioned?"

Rachel Brooks immediately pushed open the door and entered, demanding, "Who are you? How did you get in? What do you want by barging into our company?!"

Jeff was looking at the company reports when he saw Rachel Brooks and paused for a moment.

He countered by asking, "Who are you?"

Rachel Brooks adjusted her black-rimmed glasses and said, "I am Ms. Lang's personal secretary, Rachel Brooks!"

Jeff glanced at Rachel Brooks's sexy outfit and couldn't understand why Ms. Lang, a woman, would also like this type of secretary. Isn't this usually a man's favorite?

"Could it be... that Victoria Lang is a lesbian?"
