Chapter 29 - Are We Lovers?

Outside the door.

When Rachel Brooks and the other two saw this, they were so shocked they covered their mouths!

How could this be!

It wasn't Chairman Sterling kneeling before Ms. Lang—it was Ms. Lang kneeling before Chairman Sterling!

And it didn't even take a minute; the moment they met, Ms. Lang knelt down!

Could it be that the new Chairman Sterling's charm and aura were so powerful that even the usually aloof Ms. Lang had been instantly conquered?

The three women felt an even deeper sense of awe toward Jeff!

Hearing a noise outside the door, Jeff glanced through the crack. Rachel Brooks and the other two immediately scattered like startled birds.

Then Jeff walked over to Victoria Lang, but instead of helping her up, he simply stood there and looked down at her.

Jeff laughed and said, "Ms. Lang, why did you kneel the moment we met? I can't accept such a grand gesture." He said, teasingly.

Victoria Lang thought to herself, "If you can't accept it, why don't you help me up? You've made me lose face like this, and this position is just too…"

Any adult seeing Victoria Lang and Jeff in their current positions would likely draw certain conclusions.

But Victoria Lang knew she had only herself to blame.

"Damn the Harpers! If it weren't for them, I wouldn't have offended my boss!"

Thinking back to what happened yesterday, Victoria Lang felt like dying of shame. His silence was also peering a warning of some sort.

Victoria Lang immediately apologized with deep remorse. "I'm sorry, Chairman Sterling, I was wrong! Please forgive me for what I said yesterday!"

Jeff squatted down, face to face with Victoria Lang, and said, "Yesterday? Oh, I remember now—you seemed to have said yesterday that we were lovers?"

Jeff pulled Victoria Lang into his arms!

In the Riverforge business world, a woman coveted by countless powerful men was now easily embraced by Jeff!

If anyone else had dared to do that, Victoria Lang would have slapped them across the face.

But she didn't dare do that to Jeff.

Because she had said it herself yesterday: Chairman Sterling was her boyfriend.

Jeff immediately felt a wave of fragrance wash over him. No wonder so many men were infatuated with Victoria Lang. Just a hug made Jeff feel refreshed and exhilarated.

Jeff continued teasingly, "I heard I've also chartered an island. Would you like to be my girlfriend? Which island was it again? somewhere in the Caribbeans? Right?"

Victoria Lang felt incredibly embarrassed. If she could, she really wanted to find a hole to crawl into.

"I'm sorry, I was wrong," Victoria Lang apologized again.

Jeff didn't want to do anything too intimate with his vice president in the office, so he released her, stood up, and said:

"Alright, let's get up first. It won't look good if other employees see this."

"Yes."

Victoria Lang quickly stood, immediately closed the office door, and then used the remote to switch the office partition glass to privacy mode so employees outside couldn't see inside.

At that moment, Jeff had already sat back in the chairman's chair and asked with powerful authority:

"Ms. Lang, you said yesterday that you would cut off all my livelihoods in Riverforge. Now I am the chairman of Horizon Group—your superior."

"I want to ask you: how are you going to blacklist me now?!"

Jeff had been looking forward to this moment since yesterday's birthday banquet!

"Cut off my path to survival?" Jeff added.

"Do you have that ability? Oh, right. My bad. I forgot. You got my permission, right?"

Victoria Lang lowered her head. "Chairman Sterling, I really didn't expect someone of your status would become the live-in son-in-law of the Harper family." She hung her head in shame.

"I know my mistake is irreversible. I will accept whatever punishment you give me." Jeff just listened

"If you want to slap me, I'll go over there and let you do it. If you want to curse me, I'll listen to every word." She continues, her voice cracking. With a single word from Jeff, she'd lose her position, her power, everything.

"If you want to fire me, I will pack my things and leave right now, and never appear in front of you again, if it makes you happy."

Jeff nodded, realizing that Victoria Lang was indeed a remarkable woman. She remained calm in the face of adversity, took responsibility, and made no excuses.

Jeff said, "I have no intention of firing you."

Victoria Lang looked up in surprise. She had done such a terrible thing to Jeff yesterday, yet he hadn't fired her?

Jeff continued, "Yesterday, you were the only one who gave me a way out. If I were really just an ordinary person, then you would have been my benefactor."

Thinking back carefully, Victoria Lang hadn't truly wronged Jeff that much yesterday.

All the other guests had turned against Jeff without hesitation, but Victoria Lang had risked offending Old Madam Harper to plead for him and even planned to hire him as her personal bodyguard.

After being rejected by Jeff, Victoria Lang had no choice but to blacklist him.

Victoria Lang was deeply moved, her eyes welling with tears. "Thank you, Chairman Sterling! From now on, I will serve you wholeheartedly!"

Victoria Lang was surprised that Jeff was so magnanimous and reasonable at such a young age.

Jeff said, "I can forgive you. But I will not let any of the others who cut off my path to survival at yesterday's birthday banquet go unpunished!" I continued.

"Ms. Lang…"

"You can just call me Victoria," Victoria Lang said gently, wiping away her tears.

Jeff nodded. "Victoria, compile information on everyone who tried to blacklist me yesterday and send it to me."

"Yes!" Victoria Lang knew Jeff wanted revenge on them!

The Riverforge business world was about to undergo a major upheaval!
