Chapter 10 - Unlock Small Greenhouse

A few minutes later, the four crowded in front of the store, staring blankly at the two shelves full of bread and water.

"Miss Lane, how much stock of bread do you have?" Bear asked, his heart thumping loudly.

"For now, there are 491 loaves of bread and 494 liters of water. Tomorrow, there will be another batch..." she answered truthfully. Four were sold, and five were her own meals. Anyway, if these people really dared to harbor malicious thoughts, she had the authority to kick them out and add them to the blacklist.

Once blacklisted, they would no longer be able to enter Moonstone Province or enjoy any of the city's future services!

"491?!" the four exclaimed at the same time. They looked at each other, shock evident on their faces.

How did Miss Lane get so many ingredients? Just the flour alone was already hard to find. They had heard that even the mountaintop bases were struggling with farming because the red rain had changed the soil composition.

Their base had tried hydroponics, but without equipment to filter seawater, the expert in the base could only do it manually. The daily yield wasn't even enough for consumption. There was nothing extra to spare for large-scale hydroponics. Thus, the plan had long been abandoned.

Additionally, right now, only Wood-type powers could grow food, but the crops grown that way were tasteless—unlike Miss Lane's bread!

Not to mention the rarity of seeds now. When the Cataclysmic Flood happened, ordinary people weren't able to save seeds at all.

Only by trading with bases located on the remaining landmasses could one obtain plants or seeds—but they had heard the prices were astronomical. More expensive than fuel. Even if they pooled their wealth and sold themselves, they wouldn't be able to afford them.

That explained their excessive reactions.

Bear didn't hesitate any longer. He took out all the cores and started counting. "Miss Lane, I'll take 100 loaves of bread and 50 liters of water!" As much as he wanted to buy everything, he didn't have the space to carry it all back.

The appetites of awakeners couldn't be compared to those of ordinary people. A single loaf of bread wasn't enough to satiate them.

"Miss Lane, can you give me four loaves first?" Pal requested.

"Me too. I want three," Wells said.

"Five for me!" Ron added.

"No problem!" Isla happily took the bread from the shelves and handed it to her customers.

Under their three eager gazes, the empty spots on the display shelves were quickly filled again as soon as Miss Lane closed them.

So magical! Was Miss Lane's power not only teleportation? Could she conjure things out of thin air too?

Thinking about it, their eyes shone with admiration.

The surprises didn't stop there.

When Bear paid for the bread and water, Miss Lane tapped on the screen of the register.

The four leaned closer and saw the screen light up.

Their eyes widened in shock. They had thought it was just for decoration, but they hadn't expected it to actually work.

What? There was electricity too?!

Ron remembered what he had seen the night before. Could it be this store?!

"Thank you for shopping at my store! Come again!"

Even after receiving the bread and water, the four were still in a daze.

They sat on their small cleaning boat, eating the bread and drinking the water. For the first time since the Cataclysmic Flood, they were able to eat to their hearts' content. After they were full, they began discussing things in low voices.

Meanwhile, inside the cabin, Isla Lane was overjoyed.

[Congratulations on completing the task: Achieve 10 points in sales!]

[Reward: Unlock Small Greenhouse, Unlock Seed: Wheat Seed]

[Congratulations on completing the task: Achieve 100 points in sales!]

[Reward: Unlock Milling Workshop and Noodle Shop]

"What? Noodles?!" Isla Lane was thrilled.

[Host, I advise you to clear the surrounding garbage as soon as possible so we can build the facilities quickly. By the way, you now have enough space for a planting bed. Where would you like to build the Small Greenhouse?]

Isla Lane remembered the people outside. She could ask them to help her clear the garbage in exchange for some points!

The interface opened, showing the newly unlocked Small Greenhouse. Isla Lane dragged the icon of the planting bed to the right side of the raft. That way, she could access it easily.

Outside, another wooden platform emerged, connecting to Isla's main raft. It was enclosed by three-meter-high wooden walls, and above it was a slanted transparent glass roof.

"What do you think?" Bear asked seriously.

Wells was the first to respond. "Didn't you notice? Up until now, not a single water beast has appeared. It's too quiet." Even back at their base, they could always hear water beasts moving below the surface. It was never this silent.

Ron added, "Leader, I noticed something else too. It was freezing when we were on our boat, but when we boarded Miss Lane's raft, I didn't feel any cold at all. Instead, it's very warm."

Indeed, their water-soaked clothes had already dried. It was so strange. Was this part of Miss Lane's ability too?

Pal wiped his lips on his sleeve before saying, "Leader, I believe someone is backing this woman. If we can build a connection with her, this might be the key to living a better life."

Clang! Clang!

Suddenly, noises like one would hear from construction site entered their ears.
