Some of the ten team members shared surnames. Just calling them "Little Li" and "Big Li" sounded a bit awkward, so Xiao Chang came up with a solution. Five of them would stick to the old nicknames like "Xiao Li" and "Xiao Chang," while the other five would be called by their given names instead of their surnames. For instance, Li Wei would just be called Xiao Wei. This way, there would be no confusion.
And so, the nicknames for the other five team members were decided: Xiao Wei, Xiao Zhi, Xiaoqiang, Daqing, and Daguo.
For the last two names, they were worried someone might object to adding "Xiao" (Little), so they changed it to "Da" (Big) instead. That settled it perfectly.
