Iris
The first thing I heard was my name.
"Iris…"
The voice was distant and soft. Almost like a whisper carried through a quiet space. I tried to follow it, I tried to open my eyes but darkness swallowed everything.
"Iris…" My heart thudded. I knew that voice or at least I thought I did.
Someone had called my name before I lost consciousness. Someone had was in that forest that knew me. I remembered running. My injured ankle burning with every step. The trees blurring around me.
My lungs aching as I begged someone—anyone—to help me. Then a figure. A stranger or perhaps someone that knew me. Their hand was reaching toward me and then they called my name.
Iris.
That was the last thing I remembered. Who was he or she? Was he the person who had found me? Had he helped me? Or had he been another person sent after me?
My head throbbed as I tried to move. Pain shot through my wrists. I froze. I was still bound. If that stranger has helped me, why was I still bound?
