His words hung in the chamber. For several seconds, I couldn't breathe. The blue flames continued to dance around my fingers as I stared at Samael.
"Who?"
My voice barely sounded like mine. Samael didn't answer. His eyes remained fixed on the flames.
"You know my mother?" His jaw tightened.
"Your mother was a mistake." My heart clenched.
"Don't talk about her." I warned. A bitter laugh escaped him.
"You have no idea who your mother was."
"Then tell me." He stepped closer. The guards around the room shifted uneasily.
"Tell me!" Samael's eyes narrowed.
"You think these powers make you special?"
The flames around my hands surged.
"I don't know what they are."
"You don't." His gaze moved over me. "But I do." He lifted his hand.
"Take her."
The guards hesitated. One of them glanced at the blue fire surrounding me. Samael's expression hardened.
"Now!!" The command was sharp.
