Hades
I had this bad feeling that I couldn't shake away as I walked to the library. I had sent for Iris for a while now and I had not yet seen her. The servant had told me,
"She is waiting in the library, Alpha."
The words had seemed ordinary at the time. I pushed open the library doors.
"Iris?" Silence greeted me.
My eyes swept across the room. The large wooden table stood untouched. Books lined the shelves exactly as they had earlier that morning. A fire burned low in the stone fireplace but Iris was nowhere.
"Iris." I called as I stepped farther inside.
The uneasiness in my chest tightened. Where could she have gone to. There was no possible place she could be except the library or her room and she was in none. She wouldn't have left the pack without telling me.
The memory from last night flashed through my mind before I could stop it. Her warmth. The way she had looked at me this morning. The quiet smile she'd tried to hide.
