I sat in class, but my mind was far away, stuck on what happened last night. There had to be another clue about yesterday, something more than the scale.
I should have paid more attention. I should not have underestimated Rox. The boy had clearly played with our heads, and thinking about it now made my chest tighten with embarrassment.
I bit my lower lip while tapping the edge of my pen on the desk. My classmates were already annoyed by this habit of mine, but I did not care enough to stop.
Jax walked into the class, his eyes scanning the room until they landed on me at the back. I quickly adjusted my posture, trying to look calm, like nothing was wrong.
"Finally found you, Witch," Jax said, pointing at me as he walked over.
The rest of the class wanted to laugh, but they dared not. They had seen our fights for years, and no one wanted to be caught in the middle of another one.
