Streaming was a well known activity in the current world, with multiple streamers all around the world, hopping on different types of games depending on the popularity.
Amongst those many, only a select few ever make it to a thousand views in their career, say maybe ninety percent. As for those that could consistently hit that amount, they were even far, far less, with two to three percent being the only ones that could do that, especially on major games that had many streamers.
Ascension Online was one of those major games, and with it already being out for months, it already had massive streamers in the game. And these streamers watched around for other streamers, not because they were interested in those streamers, but simply because they wanted to observe the competition.
If there was a new and rising streamer, they would send watchers to his chat, and if the watchers found him good they would then begin other plans that would limit or stop the growth of the new streamer, there were many ways for that to happen.
It was the natural control order of the system, to ensure that not everyone could reach the top, because if everyone did, then there would be an issue, money would begin to circulate more, which meant less money for everyone who was in the game long before.
Kai was one of these new streamers that had popped up, and the issue with his own was the speed of the rise, it was usually fast, one could say way too fast even.
.....
Knock knock.
Two knocks came from a door.
"Come in." A chill voice came from inside. The door swung open, and a man walked in, dressed in a hoodie and grey joggers, he gripped an iPad in his hands.
The inside of the room was pretty normal, a lounge with a comfy couch, a state of the art gaming pod at the side, shelves with some books stacked inside, all about gaming. And on a rack several trophies sat there.
Lying on the couch with one leg propped against the back of the chair was a young man, he held a phone in his hands, scrolling away without care.
He had dark red hair, flawless skin, and a well maintained body as a whole.
"What's up, Lewis?" he asked, already knowing who had come in.
"Uhm, boss, there is something you might want to see, it's a new streamer from Ascension Online." Lewis said, he sounded a bit timid as he spoke.
"Huh? New streamer? That's why you are here? Handle him the same way we always do, why do you have to involve me?"
"Uhm, boss, he isn't like other streamers, he is a level three player that started the game two days ago, and now he is already with over two thousand current views." Lewis stated.
Immediately the boss heard that, he clicked the button on the side of his phone and sat up. "What did you say?" he asked in a serious tone. "Put his stream on the TV for me." The boss instructed.
Lewis nodded and then pressed something on his tablet, and instantly a slot in the ceiling opened and from it a television slowly lowered, turning on instantly and connecting to the stream.
Kai's stream immediately came into view. He was still on the first floor of the dungeon, and the next set of goblins were appearing now. This time, not only were they goblins, but there were three hobgoblins added to the ten normal goblins.
The hobgoblins were all above five foot tall, one closer to five ten. They gripped swords in their hands, their red eyes told that they were ready for a fight. Above their heads showed that two were level six, and one was level eight, a pretty high jump.
The one that was level eight also seemed to have something extra above his level, it was a buff. Kai didn't know what the buff was though, as this was the first time that he was seeing it.
Inside the lounge, the boss's eyes moved away from the goblins and went to the view count, and sure it was getting closer to two thousand five hundred views. That was the number for a major streamer, not just some low level rando.
"How is he getting that high number? Who is he?" The boss demanded.
"Uhm, we looked into his details, and there is nothing personal about him on his account, so there is no way that we could know where he is from." Lewis explained.
"He is hiding his identity, more reason to be suspicious, tch." The boss bit into his nail, "what about the place he is currently battling in? I don't believe I have come across somewhere like this."
"It's a unique dungeon, and he is currently on the first floor." Lewis stated.
"A unique dungeon? You have to be joking, how does a newbie get his hands on something like that?" The boss barked.
"I'll run through his former streams and see where he got it from. I believe one of his viewers recorded and posted his stream." Lewis explained.
"Alright, do that, and also try to meet him in game, since we can't reach this fellow outside. When you do, have a talk with him and offer him some incentives to make him work with us. No one reaches two thousand views without there being something unique about them." The boss stated.
"I'll do that. Also Boss, the Greenhorn tournament is starting today evening, the board wants to know if you and the team are ready." Lewis said.
"Tch, those old folks, tch, well tell them that we are ready as always, it's not like we can lose at such a low level tournament." He said.
"Well, they did say I should inform you that the Greenhouse organization has received a huge donation from an anonymous figure, so the prizes have been increased. And so, the Inferno Dragons, as well as Divine will be participating in the tournament."
"The what?" The boss snapped his head, looking at Lewis with shock.
