Chapter 22 - Unknown Attack

"This is insane..." Momo whispered to herself. The unanimous votes from her classmates had concluded the voting session, prompting Aizawa to call them to the front of the class.

She had planned to become vice president in a normal way, from the voting. The class had seen her performance during the battle trial and her analyses. She'd never expected a petty Sukuna to help earn her way to the top. Should she be grateful or angry? A tough question to answer indeed.

She couldn't help but send a side eye at her pink haired classmate, who smirked back, knowing full well what he did.

"Never expected this lineup..." Aizawa mumbled before he continued.

"So these two are going to be your president and vice president. Are you sure about your decisions? We still have time for a re-vote."

Aizawa took their silence as an answer. He nodded before looking at the two in front. He grinned creepily at them.

"Congratulations you two, you're now responsible for preventing chaos caused by your classmates. Enjoy the process."

...

"Congrats gurll!!" Mina laughed as she sat together with the girls of her class.

"Seriously Mina, I almost had a heart attack when he told you all to vote for me." Momo sighed, eating her lunch. Mina only laughed harder.

" You seem fine with this, though. I'd expected you to be... you know..."

" What? Jealous? Psshh...." Mina waved Jiro off while shaking her head. "Oh please, you really think I'd get jealous over that? If anything, I'm glad he didn't pick me. If you girls didn't know, I have a phobia to those kinds of positions." The girls couldn't help but snort at that.

"Plus, him picking Yaomomo here makes perfect sense. She's like a human supercomputer ya know?"

"Wh-what?" Momo stuttered, never hearing someone give her that nickname before.

"Sukuna's the front man, while Momo can be the person who makes his decisions come to life. And I can be the PR of the class, you get me? It's that simple. And besides, whatever me and Sukuna has going on won't override our IQ."

"Me personally, I think he just doesn't want to burden you." Hagakure gave her opinion.

"Well knowing him..." Mina whispered, glancing at Sukuna eating silently as Kirishima and Denki were chatting away.

"He probably did think of that..."

"But seriously, you two are giving me diabetes with how sweet you are with each other." Uraraka commented. Mina's face brightened a little as she laughed nervously, rubbing her hand behind her neck.

"We're not like that okay?"

"But you want to, am I right?" Tsuyu interjected. Mina stayed silent, looking down a little. It seemed the question had brought up some thoughts she filed away.

"It's just—"

Suddenly, the school alarm rang off, startling the students in the cafeteria. Kirishima got up, confused.

"What's this about? Is it like a surprise drill or something?" He wondered. With how eccentric the school's way of teaching was, he wouldn't be surprised if this was actually a thing.

"Security Level 3 has been breached. Students, please evacuate accordingly." As soon as the order from the robotic voice was heard by them, a stampede of students started rushing towards the exit.

"Security Level 3?" Ida muttered, confused about the lingo. He hadn't finished the school's rulebook enough just yet to know what it meant.

"Hey come on! What are you doing just standing there! Someone's infiltrated the school grounds!" A passing senior student shouted, running by the group of first years.

"What?!" Ida was in shock, before he grunted as he was forcefully squeezed in between a bunch of students. He glanced to see that most of his classmates were experiencing something similar, all showing visible stress.

He glanced at Sukuna, trying to make space for himself.

"Ida. Where's Uraraka?" Sukuna asked him. Although confused by the sudden question, Ida answered anyway.

"She's—"

"I'm right here!" Uraraka grunted, using her strength to push away some students, creating some breathing room. It wasn't long before the pushing started again.

"These idiots are panicking over nothing. It's just the same group of press that went around interviewing when you all arrived at school this morning." Sukuna motioned his head towards the glass windows. Ida looked out, and Sukuna's statement was confirmed immediately.

A horde of reporters and cameramen were being held back by Present Mic and Aizawa, trying their best not to take action and letting the police come instead.

"Sukuna... You need to do the 'thing' now!" Ida demanded, getting claustrophobic as the seconds passed, his body forcefully slamming into the glass window.

"Hah?! What thing?"

"You know what I'm talking about. That stare you have. The one where it looks like you're killing them with just your eyes. You know, the one you gave me when we were in the auditorium during the entrance exams!"

"Is that supposed to be an insult or something?" Sukuna grumbled.

"Man just do it already! I'm running out of breathing room here!" Kirishima shouted, not far from him, restraining himself from just using his quirk to push all of them away.

"Float me up and throw me to that wall before you release me." Sukuna commanded Uraraka, stretching out his hand. Without a second wasted, Uraraka grabbed it and used her Quirk, causing Sukuna to become weightless as he floated up high, hand still grasping Uraraka's.

" Here goes!" Uraraka shouted as she threw him towards the wall. Sukuna performed a couple of flips mid air before his feet landed on hard cement. Uraraka then pressed the tips of her fingers together, releasing the weightless effect on him.

As black markings spread across his body, Sukuna zoomed towards the exit with one push of his legs. His speed caused a huge gust of wind, causing a greater panic from the students.

The students then froze in place, bodies shaking as an invisible pressure washed over them. Moving felt impossible, and if they did it would feel like they were disobeying something. Shakily, they glanced up at Sukuna, standing calmly on the neon green exit signboard, his four crimson eyes staring down at them.

"Look out the window." He commanded with his monotonous, deeply unimpressed voice. With their bodies sweating, they automatically did what they were told. Whatever this was that took over their minds, they couldn't fight it, they just needed to obey him.

"Now that you have a good look at who the intruders were. I suggest you calm down before you idiots actually kill someone from this rave party you got going on."

Sukuna's first impression of his seniors, especially the ones in the Department of Heroes, were that they were only cosplaying competence in the end.

A bunch of reporters trip an alarm and everyone goes full Scooby-Doo hallway chase scene. A supposed elite hero academy, branding itself as the Harvard + West Point + Marvel Academy of heroics, behaving like a startled flock, falling back on adrenaline and vibes instead of protocol....

Man, that's just embarrassing...

...

"Glad that crap is over with..." Mineta groaned. He shuddered, remembering the amount of times he was almost stomped on.

"Still, how could someone destroy the barrier like that? Sure as hell wasn't the reporters." Jiro questioned, remembering what she saw. The barrier had an eerily large hole, with piles of dust around what was left of it.

"A villain, most likely." Ida commented. "Maybe they had disguised as a reporter, and when chaos ensued, they would take the chance to snatch a student or two."

"But no one was reported missing afterwards. So what was the point of all of that?" Denki then asked.

"A declaration of war." Momo muttered, her expression steeled. The class became uncomfortably silent at the thought.

"It hasn't even been a month damnit, and now you're telling me I have to watch my back?" Bakugo growled out.

"We're all potential targets here, Bakugo, especially the ones in the hero course. We are more... desirable per se." Momo grimaced at her own choice of words. She then looked at Sukuna who gave a small nod in return.

"Me and Sukuna had discussed this a while before we entered class..." In front of everyone's eyes, Momo used her Quirk to create walkie talkies, one for everyone in class.

"Use this for emergency purposes only, and I urge you to bring it with you everywhere you go. Times are changing, and we do not know what will happen in the future. So the best bet is to prepare. Better than not doing anything. Am I understood?"

"Yes ma'am!!!"
