Selene's POV
I sat on the edge of the plastic chair in the waiting area outside Elena's room with knees pressed together and fingers knotted so tightly that my knuckles went white.
Carlos paced up and down the waiting area.He hadn't stopped since we arrived.
Every few minutes he'd glance at me quickly then look away again like he didn't know what to say.
I didn't know what to say either.
The doctor, a short woman with gray streaks in her bun, had gone in twenty minutes ago with Elena's latest scans.
Carlos had followed her asking how Elana was doing but she called him off with a wave and asked us to wait.So we waited.
Carlos finally stopped pacing for the first time in an hour.
He sat beside me and put his arm across my shoulder, I could feel the heat coming off him. He might not have gotten along with Elena but he had grown fond of her
"She's strong Selene, nothing will happen to her."
I stared at the floor.
