Selene's POV
The moment Patrick stepped fully into the office and the door clicked shut behind him, the air changed.
Patrick stood tall and intimidating,the same height I remembered — maybe an inch taller now and broader shoulders.
He still had that easy half-smile that used to make girls in the back row giggle during literature class. His same warm brown eyes that once looked at me like I was the only person in a room full of noise still shined brightly. I immediately recognised the same faint scar above his left eyebrow from when he fell off the school fence trying to retrieve my notebook during break.
Patrick was my high school sweetheart and I had not seen him in six years.Not since the day I told him I was leaving DC for good, to the scholarship I got in New York, that I couldn't give up no matter how much I loved him.
He'd cried that day but I didn't,I knew I had to choose my future over him.
