Chapter 25 - Chapter -25: what Only We Know

The note was folded twice.

Neat.careful.

Christopher found it tucked inside his notebook during last period.

Storeroom.After lunch.

No hearts.

No explanation.

He didn't reply.

He just closed the book .

The storeroom felt smaller this time.

The same dust.

The same broken chairs.

But the silence wasn't new anymore--it was familiar.

Zia was already there, standing near the window, light cutting across her hair.

"You came,"She said softly.

"I always do,"Christopher replied, then paused. "Not always physically. But ...yeah."

She smiled at that.

They stood close, closer than last time, yet still careful.

"I think people are starting to guess, "Zia said quietly. "Not about us .About me not fitting where I'm supposed to."

Christopher frowned. "Are you okay ?"

Zia nodded. "More than before."

She took a breath.

Then stepped closer.

Really closer.

Christopher's instinct was to stop--to slow it down --but Zia didn't rush him.

She just looked up at him.

"I don't want to keep wondering, "She whispered. And I don't want this decided by fear."

Before he could answer, she leaned in.

The kiss was soft.

Brief.

Almost hesitant.

Just enough.

Christopher froze for half a second--then his hand came up instinctively, resting lightly at her waist.

Not pulling her closer.

Not pulling away.

Responding.

When they parted, their foreheads rested together.

Neither smiled.

Neither apologized.

"That...changes things, "Christopher said quietly.

Zia nodded. "I know. "

Footsteps echoed faintly outside.

They separated instantly.

Zia straightened her jacket.

Christopher stepped back.

No panic.

No regret.

Before unlocking the door,Zia slipped something into his hand .

Another folded note.

Still ours .

They left separately .

Different directions.

Different faces.

No one noticed.

But something had shifted again--

Not loudly,

Not publicly,

But permanently.

Some things didn't need witnesses.

They just needed truth.
