The adventurer ran out of the guild while the others shuddered in fear. I was dumbfounded at the reaction but i could not be bothered. I asked the receptionist to hurry up my application. I wanted to go on my first quest. The receptionist hurriedly moved to finish up my application. Two minutes later, he came back harboring my new guild card and three quests. He said since it was my first time in a guild, i would start as a E rank. I was not really bothered. It was at least following the rules of the fantasy web novel I had read before my death. He told me to pick from among the three quests that he brought which one I was comfortable with. The first was goblin hunting. It was three copper coins for every left goblin ear which was proof of its succession. It did not have a quantifiable limit so I was allowed to hunt until I was sick of it. The second was a herb collecting quest. I would have to collect specific herbs that will be used to make healing, paralysis, anti-poison and status nullification potions. Seemed easy enough especially with the slimes. The price would be according to the weight of the herbs brought. Though there was a warning at the bottom saying over picking was not allowed. The third one was conflicting since it was a slime hunting quest. I had to bring their cores for proof. Each went for about two copper coins.
While I was conflicted on what to do, Elio said to me telepathically to just pick all three. I asked them even the slime one and they said it is necessary to eat their own kind to evolve. I was convinced. I told the receptionist that I chose all of them catching him off guard. Each one was deemed difficult with its own level of difficulty but I told him that that was my final decision. He gave a sigh and handed the quest papers to me with not a word more. I grabbed them and raced out of there as if I was being chased by a demon. As soon as I was out, I called out the spear from the spacial realm and got on. I flew above normal heights for people to bother looking up and disappeared into the forest. I was forced into an emergency landing due to a sudden ambush of arrows. I came into a landing and took to the bushes.
I crouched down and peeked through the bushes. It was a pack of archer goblins. Most likely goblins. At least that is what Rana told me. This was my first time seeing them. They had long thick warty noses and skinny bony bodies. They only wore a loin cloth and had archery gear made from leather. I was about to engage but Rana told me to wait and think things through. I stood down and waited for my prey to escape. I then calmed down and assessed my situation. Once a clear cut plan had come to mind, I asked Rana to share an image of the herbs we were to collect to Elio and asked them to collect it as me and the others fought. They agreed and moved almost immediately. The good thing was that they were slimes so there was no way of getting attacked. But even by the slimmest chance was the attack to come, It would not even breach it's defenses.
Now Aqua, Blue and I crept through the bushes and moved in the direction I watched the goblins move in. Not long after, we arrived at their base. The base was not that large but their numbers were nothing to scoff at. I decided to review my skills for the one i could easily in the situation just as well as my spear. I reviewed what I had to do and got a clear cut plan to use. I passed the plan to the others via telepathy and they agreed to fulfil it.
This is how the plan was to play out. Aqua and Blue use their cloning skill to multiply their number to completely surround the base. Then they were to climb the base walls and wait for my signal. I would stand at the entrance and catch them off guard by spooking them. They will obviously attack me out of fear and that is when my army of slimes use water magic to fire high pressured water at them like target practice. There were a maximum of twelve goblin archers, twenty five goblin knights, thirteen hobgoblins [ six copper per ear ] and three goblin riders. That amounts to one hundred and ninety eight. We were about to start celebrating when a wave of killing intent invaded the base. I asked Rana and she said it was the leader of the goblins. A goblin Shaman. The leader walked out of his shelter and his aura was so malevolent. It reminded me of the time I was visiting my uncle in prison, he emitted the same level of killing intent. I raised my spear and prepared for battle. The shaman prepared to fire a fire type spell. I was waiting for no man. I used blitz and charged at it with incredible speed. I found myself behind him. My body had moved by its own and cut off the beast's head. It was so effortless that even I was shocked. I stood there and looked at the spear like it was some sort of enigma. Then Rana informed me that I had learned fire magic.
The slimes came and swarmed me before dismissing their clones. Elio also came not long after and said that it picked all the herbs it was supposed and self duplicated them in the spacial realm. I had unlocked an endless supply of herbs without knowing. I was about to ask a follow-up question when Aqua asked me to hurry up so they can go commit genocide on their people. We then laughed as we cut out the left ears of the goblins and placed them in the spacial realm. We then went slime hunting.
