Chapter 6 - CHAPTER SIX: SPOILS OF BATTLE

I was woken up by a constant pounding on my chest. It was making it hard to breath. I drearily got up groaning when Rana said," Mana capacity has risen by 2%. Tamed slimes Aqua, Blue and Elio have evolved to greater slimes. New skills attained: Devour C rank and Toxic synthesis A rank."

I was happy at the increase in power but it seemed like the slimes were worried so I patted them on the head telling them that I was okay. I also proceeded to congratulate them for their hard work and decided to head back to the guild. These are the times I am glad to have the spear because I cannot move a bone on my body without pain being shot all over. I rode the spear back to town where I got off and walked to the guild. The slimes stayed out of sight by shrinking again and hanging around on my shoulder. They seemed to be at home there. I reentered the guild, now at sunset, and it was even more crowded than before. The adventurers were rowdier than ever, drinking and chowing down on meat. I was seriously not in the mood and just walked to the front. While approaching the reception, a woman stood in my way pretended that I bumped into her. She did not seem to be drunk but she looked like a slut with the way she was dressed." Look here shrimp, you dirtied up my boots, so what are you going to do about it?" she asked and that is when I noticed her rank was D, which I took to not be much of a threat to me.

" Look bitch, take your attitude away from me. I don't have the time to deal with a slut like you," I said as I walked passed her.

A big guy got up from his seat and stood in front of me. He was jacked but came of as an easy to manipulate idiot. I was proven right when he asked me to apologize to the woman and I said that she was the one at fault; convincing him. The woman forced him to fight for her and to stop bein an idiot but I was getting sick of the noise they were making. I summoned my spear and put the blade edge at his shoulder beside his neck. I let it go and it fell with so much force that it dislocated his shoulder and cracked the ground. It's good thing I used the blunt side and not the blade side. I picked it up as the man started to scream in pain as he could not move his arm. He was in tears, but not seriously; just that small trickle of a man tolerating the pain.

I looked down at him as he stood on his knees and kicked him in the same shoulder relocating it. He yelped in pain but was happy he could now use his arm again. Now that he was conscious of the situation, he and his woman recognized the spear and were instantly in fear. I said," Now will you move out my way or do I have to really use this?"

The threat was highly effective because he bowed to apologize and ran out with the woman. I sighed as the slimes laughed at low tones. I walked over to the reception only to find the receptionist this time was a woman. I subconsciously got annoyed by her with even realizing it. I placed all the quest forms on the table and she asked where the products were. I opened my spatial storage and out fell the goblin ears, potions by the hundreds and slime cores. The crowd behind gasped. I did not even notice that the whole guild had gone silent after my little incident. The receptionist was still in shock and that triggered me." Are you going to continue to waste my time or are you going to do your job?" I asked with a hint of anger.

She blushed and got to processing what I brought over to her. As soon as she assessed the potions, she said that they had a 90% effective rate. That was 30% higher than other potions. I was honestly shocked but something in me was still churning when I looked at her. Was it her, was she the cause of all my anger? I resolved to get out of there as soon as possible." Can you hurry it up, I don't have time to entertain your shock," I said making her blush but clearly annoying the adventurers.

They clearly did not like me but they knew the could not attack me for fear of angering the strongest god in the world. I guess having a universal backer is always a good thing. The receptionist finally came back with my cash reward. She had with her a bag of five gold coins. I was honestly shocked that I earned gold coins. I saw her smile at my expression and my frow instantly frowned. I grabbed the bag and begrudgingly thanked her before walking away. I could feel the glares from the adventurers but they were not of my concern. I got out and slowly rode the spear down the road as I asked Rana why the reward was so high. Rana said that it was because the potions were of an abnormally high quality and that is why it was that high. I smiled and decided to buy a feast for my family.

Meat, juice, exotic fruits, etc. No price was too high for my family. I then got home but found no one there yet. It seemed like they were being held up somewhere. I decided to start preparing dinner for them. I prepared steaks as my previous mother had taught me and served it aside with some well cooked greens. I sliced up the fruits in a presentable way and poured a glass of juice for everyone and admired my work. While I was happy admiring my work, they arrived making chatter. I went to greet them when the smell of the food caught their noses. My sisters ran past me but my mother stopped and asked whether it was ok. I said I did it all for them and that they should enjoy. The girls held nothing back but mother was still reserved about it. She eventually caved but only after a lot of convincing. I asked the slimes to enlarge so I can introduce them to the family and I tell you the girls were too eager to meet them. They hugged them throughout dinner and after. I was honestly exhausted, so after the dishes, I went to sleep.
