Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: A Time Jump

[3rd POV]

She was able to survive long enough to finish everything.

Billie's grandmother Esme had passed a month and a half after that morning. And in that time she had done all the paperwork needed for Billie to get emancipating, had set up her inheritance, and had dealt with everything she possibly needed to for Billie to be able to handle her life.

And she had.

After her grandmother had passed, Billie decided on moving. As while she loved the house, it had...to many memories of her grandmother. Too many lingering memories of her grandmother and of the years of living with her. It made her...sad whenever she was there.

So, she used the money she had been making from her investments, and bought herself a nice apartment in LA. It was expensive, but that didn't matter much with her investments, and with what came next.

She made her first single. Ocean Eyes, the same song that Billie from other life had made. And like she had expected, it had blown up pretty damn quickly. Especially once she managed to get it officially published. Which had only been possible after using money she had gotten from her inheritance and by literally buying smaller record labels and just making her own by merging them.

She had a shit ton of money for it, basically. And using that, she managed to build up a proper record label that she knew would eventually rival some of the other big labels. That, and it allowed her and the other artists signed to make a lot more money as it was much more lucrative for them.

It was a lot of BS that was boring to do and took forever.

Either way, her music had absolutely blown up over the next few months, with Ocean Eyes getting tens of millions of streams on YouTube, and had become the second most popular video on the platform after 120 days. Being second to only Bad Romance by Lady Gaga.

And said song had hit 14x platinum in the US, which had given her a diamond certification for her first song in the US. Which from what she knew, made her the youngest to ever get one, at the age of 16 (by the time it was certified).

She made millions off that singular song.

She wasn't sure why it had gotten such a huge reception compared to what would have happened in her past life. But after looking into it more, she realized that a lot of major artists simply didn't exist here.

Artists like: Lorde, Khalid, Lana Del Ray, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Sia, hell, even damn Adele didn't exist here, nor did The Weeknd. Thankfully the older generation did, including the King of Pop himself Michael Jackson.

Either way this world was horribly without music , both for men and women. Which...gave her an incredible opening. The ability to introduce these songs to this world, make money, and broaden the songs she sings.

And thanks to her incredible voice, she could do that without fear of it sounding bad.

She had been praised for her unique style and the "Vulnerability" of the song, of how it was heartbreaking. She didn't really care for the critics and their beliefs on her songs, but she did have to admit that it felt nice to get praised.

With the success of Ocean Eyes flowing over, she released Six Feet Under, which hadn't performed as good as Ocean Eyes, but it had still gotten a platinum in the US, and several other platinums and Golds in other countries. As different countries had different numbers you had to reach in order to get each certification.

By the end of the year, she had released her first "Album", the same as the one Billie had in her last life, known as "Don't Smile at Me" it was actually an "Extended Play" which was shorter than an album but had more tracks than a single.

Said extended play had gotten a three times platinum in the US.

The amount of certifications she had gotten was incredible, and she was already becoming huge in the industry after her first proper release. Making millions of dollars, and even winning a few awards at different award shows.

She didn't go to them or anything, but she still won.

This was more so because nobody actually knew what she looked like. She had never shown her face. She didn't really want the paparazzi just yet, so she made sure to always cover her face in music videos, so all the people know is that she is a young woman at the age of 15 when she created the first album.

There were some people who threw fits about it, but she didn't give a damn as she continued to release music regularly.

She had released her first song that was not made by Billie in her past life once 2010 came around, this song being "Make you Feel my Love" the song by Adele from her past life. Two weeks later, she had released 19, the same album that Adele had made.

And it performed far better than 19 did in her past life. Reaching 3x platinum within months, and rested at 5x platinum by the time she released her biggest song to date.

All of Me, the song originally made by John Legend.

To say it blew up would be an absolute understatement. The song was HUGE and was called the "Best Love Song" of the decade. Not only that, but it had reached Diamond certification faster than Ocean Eyes, one of the fastest to ever reach it, and her second Diamond Certification on a single.

She won a lot of awards that year.

By the time Billie had turned 18 she had become a music giant, and was known for her unique style and her ability to sing in various different styles. She was also known for winning best female artist back to back to back in 2010, 2011, and 2012. And had won the most awards in a single ceremony with a grand total of 14.

There wasn't a Billboard music award during that time, so it was more so the Grammy's that she won a shit ton of. She won the song of the year award in 2010, 2011 and 2012, making her the first person to win back to back to back, and the first person to win three times. She also won all four general field awards in the same ceremony, making her the first woman to do it in a single ceremony.

To say she was incredibly popular would be an understatement. She had won a total of 7 Grammy's in a single night, tying her with Paul Simon at second place.

She was one of the biggest artists on the planet at the age of 18, with only Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift being on the same level.

But she was also one of the most low key artists on the planet, and was well known for never showing her face. She hadn't even done a concert yet. Which was probably why she wasn't the biggest on the planet just yet.

She had already graduated from high school when she was 16, thanks to her knowledge from her past life and testing ahead. She didn't go to college though, as it was a waste of time for someone like her.

So besides music, she was...well, mostly free.

Which is why she was currently out at the moment, shopping at the mall. She liked to go out and buy stuff for her home, and had even gotten into gaming recently. That and collecting old comics and vinyls.

Walking through the mall, Billie had a smoothie in her right hand and a bag in her left which had her games and Vinyls inside. She was ready to get home and play some Halo but it would seem fate had different plans for her.

As she turned the corner towards the exit/entrance to the mall, she grunted as a figure bumped into her, her smoothie flying out of her hands and hitting the girl in front of her.

Looking at the girl who let out a gasp and small screech, Billie blinked when she realized who it was. A slightly shorter teen standing at 5'2 with short brownish hair stood in front of her. She was...gorgeous, and Billie knew the second she saw her who she was. This was...

Haley Dunphy

"No my new dress, it's ruined!" Haley gasped, horrified as she looked down at her dress that was on the ground covered in smoothie.

Billie cringed when she saw this.

"Uh, how about I pay for a new one?" Billie offered, as Haley finally looked up from her dress, staring at Billie with a small glare on her face.

"You better! I just bought that" Haley said, looking like she could cry. It was obviously an expensive dress so Billie couldn't really blame her very much.

"So...what was the dress for?" Billie asked, as she began to follow Haley who was marching to where she bought it from.

"Partying, duh" Haley responded like it was obvious.

"Well pardon me, it's not my fault I don't do "Parties"" Billie said with a roll of her eyes.

"Is it because you don't like them, or because no one invites you to any?" Haley asked with a smirk on her face.

"I get invited to plenty of parties, I just find that most of them get weird as hell and are not at all my speed. Who wants to go to a party just to watch a bunch of horny freaks make out?" Billie said in response, remembering the many many many invitations she has gotten over the years.

Even when she is underage. Yeah, some of the people who invited her were...not the type she wanted anything to do with.

"Most normal people" Haley responded bluntly.

"Well being normal is boring, and I don't like boring things" Billie said with a smirk, Haley just rolled her eyes.

"So, what's your name? Can't call you Smoothie dress now can I?" Billie asked after they walked silently for a few moments.

"Oh? Why should I tell you? Miss "I'm too good for parties"?" Haley asked.

"Well I am the one who is buying you a new dress" Billie responded with a shrug, causing Haley to stare at her before sighing.

"Fine, I'm Haley Dunphy"

"Nice to meet you Haley, I'm Billie" Billie said, reaching her hand out as Haley stared at it blandly.

"Shaking hands is for old people" Haley said before walking into the store, leaving Billie standing there with a complicated expression on her face.

Walking into the store, Billie stopped when she noticed that most of the dresses were...well, not really the nicest. She also noticed that none of them were particularly expensive.

'Looks like she has a limited budget'

"You know you can get a better dress than any of these, right?" Billie asked. Haley looked at her confused.

"Well yeah, but the other shops are way too expensive for me. I've got a limited budget you know"

"Haley, you know I offered to buy you a dress, right? I didn't say it was limited to what you got last time. Go ahead and get a nicer one, I don't really mind" Billie responded, mostly using this as a chance to get to know the girl more.

She was attracted to her, don't judge.

"Oooh, so you're rich then?" Haley asked, genuinely curious.

"You could say that, yeah. C'mon, I know a way better dress store, one where you can get something that'll really make those beautiful eyes of yours shine" Billie said, grabbing Haley's hand and beginning to pull her alone.

Haley looked a little surprised at the compliment, before deciding to follow her. She had never been complimented on her eyes before, so it was a bit of a surprise.

Walking for a few minutes, the two eventually reached the shop.

"Wait wait wait, this place is way too expensive!" Haley said with wide eyes, the store in front of them was one of the best dress shops in the city and incredibly expensive.

"It's fine Haley, seriously. Go ahead and pick out whatever dress you want, I'll pay for it" Billie said, waving off her concern. She was worth a lot of money, so buying a dress worth a few thousand dollars didn't affect her.

She was one of the richest musicians on the planet after all.

"But-" "No buts, get in there and buy yourself a dress" Billie said, cutting her off as Haley stared at her before finally going into the shop, inwardly stopping in awe as she stared at all the incredible dresses.

Billie didn't see the appeal, but she wasn't going to ruin this for Haley, as her reaction to the different dresses was kind of cute. And she certainly didn't mind the way they looked on her when she tried them all on to decide which one to buy.

Seriously, the girl is gorgeous.

Watching her change her dress over and over trying to decide what to wear, Billie sipped on the complementary tea one thought on her mind.

'...I have a feeling this is the beginning of something beautiful'

That's the end of the chapter!

So yeah, her and Haley will get together quickly. As in the next couple of chapters quickly. Mostly because Haley is...well, that sort of person lol. Although she will be a bit lost because she had never been with a girl before, and will have no idea what she is doing.

Doesn't help it's like 2012 at this point so the world isn't exactly...entirely accepting of that just yet. Considering Gay Marriage wasn't legal until a year later (and that's just California).

Anyways, have a good day!
