So what's a typical ninja battle supposed to look like?
You start by tossing a few shuriken, just for show. I mean, you've got them in your pouch, and if you don't use them, how do you justify expenses, right?
Then you follow up with a couple of jutsu, burn through a fair bit of chakra. After that, it's hand-to-hand combat for a while. Maybe lay a trap, or finish with a decisive technique to seal the deal.
As long as you don't get killed halfway through, that's the standard script for every fight.
But who the hell starts a battle like they're trying to burn their whole inventory?
CRACK.
The boulder finally shattered.
The two rogue ninjas stared in horror.
Were they really about to face another wave of that endless, hellish shuriken rain?
No…
Please no.
They couldn't block it. They'd already tried.
They'd braced themselves for death.
But then, nothing.
"…Huh?" Both of them looked up in confusion.
Akira stood where he was, flashing them an apologetic smile.
"Sorry. I'm out."
Don't apologize for that!!
"You little brat!!" the two shouted in unison, grinning wickedly as they charged at him.
Their faces twisted into hideous snarls.
Then, they felt something underfoot.
They both stopped cold, staring down.
Dozens of explosive tags were glowing beneath them.
"You gotta be kid- "
BOOM!!
The ground detonated in a flash of flame and fury, consuming both of them.
"I still had some explosive tags, y'know," Akira said innocently, the wind tugging at his clothes.
It wasn't like he was stupid enough to rely on just shuriken. As soon as he noticed his supply dwindling, he'd started lacing the last few with explosive tags and embedded them in the terrain while the boulder was still breaking.
They'd stepped right into the trap just in time for the blast.
This is a shooting game, after all. You gotta have grenades.
No sense wasting a Byakugan in melee combat.
[EXP +156][EXP +135]
The two corpses were blown to pieces.
On the scorched earth remained four glittering items: a bronze longsword, a bronze breastplate, a blue scroll with a white core, and a red coin pouch.
[Bandit's Longsword: +10~15 Attack]
[Bandit's Battle Armor: +15 Defense]
[Skill Scroll: Fire Style – Shiranui]
[Coin Pouch: 100 coins]
"A skill scroll!" Akira lit up with surprise, scooping everything into his inventory. He kept the skill scroll in hand.
He'd been desperate for more jutsu. Most of what he had now didn't really suit his fighting style.
He was a ranged DPS, yet all his skills were close-range.
The Hyuga Clan did have jutsu… but honestly?
They were all stubborn fools obsessed with Gentle Fist. Most didn't value other forms of ninjutsu.
Only the Main House had access to a wider variety of scrolls. The Branch Family? They only got Gentle Fist and Byakugan-related stuff.
It was… frustrating.
If you wanted jutsu, you had two choices:
• Work like a slave for Konoha
• Get on your knees and beg for the Main House
Akira had picked a third option long ago:
Farm bosses. Grind scrolls.
And he wasn't limited to just Naruto skills. If conditions were right, he could even pull jutsu from other anime worlds.
The only downside was that those rare skills came from fixed mobs, and the drop rate was abysmal.
He used the scroll immediately.
A flood of new memories poured into his mind.
[Fire Style – Shiranui (Lv1) – EXP (0/100) – Trait: None]
Shiranui was a D-rank jutsu. When activated, it gave your attacks temporary fire-based damage.
"That's actually really useful."
Its best feature? It let him imbue weapons, like shuriken, with flame.
Flaming shuriken… now there's an idea.
Akira began forming hand seals.
Snake – Ram – Tiger.
Only three seals.
He finished the sequence and felt his chakra flow, burning steadily as he activated the jutsu.
His palm ignited briefly with flame.
He picked up a shuriken, gave it a casual toss.
It spun through the air like a tiny fireball.
"Not bad. Could definitely be leveled up."
There were two ways to improve a skill:
• Practice it, though this didn't raise EXP
• Spend EXP directly from his pool
So far, only Substitution Jutsu had been leveled with EXP. Everything else, he'd grinded manually.
He checked his pool.
[EXP Pool: 311 + 918 = 1229]
"Over a thousand in one mission… not bad. Another 800 and I level up."
He pushed the thought aside and equipped all his new gear.
[Equipment: (Bandit's Left Greave)(Bandit's Right Greave)(Bandit's Right Gauntlet)(Bandit's Longsword)(Bandit's Battle Armor)]
No obvious visual changes, except the sword now appeared in his hand.
With a thought, it vanished into storage. Another thought, back in his grip.
"Too bad there's no stat panel."
Because this was still technically a beta, his character sheet hadn't been finalized. Even after transmigrating, the stat display remained disabled.
It would've helped visualize his growth more clearly.
Not to mention: equipment had durability. But since the beta didn't track it, it was currently hidden.
Only once full release launched would that system kick in.
Shame I never got to that point.
With a push of his foot, he sprinted up the mountain again.
He didn't know how many enemies remained.
But he had to complete the Bandit Set.
That Sucker Punch skill was an early-game godsend.
He needed it.
By the time he reached the peak, he found Tsunade and the Hyuga brothers waiting.
Tsunade wore her usual poker face.
Hiashi was leaning against a tree, bandaged up. Hizashi stood beside him, glaring at Akira.
Akira frowned back. "Where are the rest of the bandits?"
Don't tell him they stole his mobs.
He looked around, but saw no corpses. None.
Tsunade frowned lightly. "They ran before we arrived."
The aura Akira gave off as he'd stormed uphill, sword in hand, was… not exactly subtle.
It didn't scream "Here to help."
Akira let out a long, regretful sigh.
He'd spent too much time testing his new jutsu. If he'd moved faster, he might've caught the stragglers.
Tsunade watched him with growing irritation, then glanced at Hiashi.
This mission… was technically complete, but not exactly successful.
One team member was injured, by friendly fire.
The enemies were virtually annihilated. Only seven or eight managed to escape.
Most had been slaughtered by Akira alone.
His fighting style? …Let's just say it wasn't cheap.
And the only casualty had nothing to do with the enemy.
This mission was supposed to help Hiashi grow, not become Akira's personal hunting expedition.
Tsunade honestly had no idea how she was going to report this.
Akira, meanwhile, saw no more mobs. With a flick of his wrist, the bronze longsword vanished.
Tsunade had no idea where he was storing it.
Akira turned and started walking away.
Tsunade called after him. "Where are you going?"
"Loot recovery," he waved back.
There were still dozens of shuriken left on the battlefield.
No way he was leaving them behind.
