Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Temporary Escape from the Hyuga Main House’s Threat

"Heh." Akira slapped away Hiashi's outstretched hand.

"Teammates? Sorry." Akira looked at Hiashi with visible disgust. "You're not worthy."

And it wasn't just Hiashi, Akira thought none of them were worthy.

What if they started stealing his kills?

Hiashi's face flushed with anger. "You're not afraid my father will punish you again?"

Akira rolled his pale eyes, the veins bulging faintly around them. "Guess again."

The main house didn't dare kill him, this was his trump card.

If he hadn't become a ninja, he wouldn't be acting this bold. But now that he had graduated, things were different.

As long as Konoha stood, the Hyuga clan couldn't take his life, nor disable him. He wasn't scared.

He bumped shoulders with Hiashi as he passed, climbing the stairs out of the dungeon without a second glance.

Hiashi gritted his teeth. Akira was the very definition of insufferable.

If he were a Uchiha, he'd probably awaken his Sharingan from sheer rage.

Akira exited the underground prison and spotted Tsunade standing with arms crossed, waiting for him.

"Let's go," she said flatly the moment she saw him. Then without another word, she turned and walked toward the edge of the Hyuga compound.

All around, clan members looked on in astonishment.

Everyone had heard Akira was thrown into the family dungeon. How was he already walking free the next day?

Akira grinned and waved cheekily at the onlookers, clearly proud.

In the crowd, he spotted the main house elder, Hyuga Ka, glaring furiously at him.

Akira made a face and stuck out his tongue.

"Bleh."

Hyuga Ka's face turned crimson, and then he keeled over with a faint thud.

"Elder!!"

The sight of Hyuga Ka passing out caused a brief panic, drawing attention away from Akira entirely.

Tsunade muttered in irritation, "Can you not stir up trouble for five minutes?"

Akira shrugged innocently. "How was I supposed to know that old man was so fragile?"

Honestly, he hadn't expected to literally knock someone out with a taunt. If he'd known it was that effective, he might've tried harder.

Tsunade sighed. She was starting to feel like Akira was Konoha's most troublesome little punk.

The two of them exited the Hyuga compound.

At the gate stood a boy with natural blush marks on his cheeks. Akira always suspected they were painted on, but nope, completely natural.

He could only sigh inwardly.

The Senju bloodline really was terrifying.

"Big bro!!" the boy lit up upon seeing Akira.

This was Tsunade's little brother, Nawaki.

The Senju clan had long since disbanded and integrated into the village. Both Tsunade and Nawaki no longer used the Senju surname.

"This is all thanks to you." Akira patted Nawaki's shoulder.

From the start, Hizashi's instincts weren't wrong, Tsunade had been subtly supporting him all along.

And the reason was standing right in front of him.

Nawaki.

Their friendship had formed in a rather straightforward way.

After Akira had thoroughly wiped the floor with all his peers, he began challenging upper and lower years. Nawaki, one year his junior, turned out to be surprisingly difficult.

After several... "strategic" wins, Nawaki had become Akira's loyal underling.

To protect her not-so-bright little brother, Tsunade had begrudgingly extended her support to Akira.

Tsunade shot a glare at Akira. "Don't corrupt my brother."

This kid was way too unruly.

Akira raised his hands with mock innocence. "Me? I'm the picture of virtue."

He gave Nawaki a meaningful glance.

Nawaki raised his fists in agreement. "That's right! Big bro would never lead me astray!"

Tsunade rubbed her temples in exasperation, but honestly, if Nawaki could learn even half of Akira's combat instincts, it wouldn't be a bad thing.

"Fine."

She didn't mind their relationship too much. Akira wasn't an idiot.

Her expression turned serious. "You have at most one year. The Hyuga clan won't move against you during that time. But you'll need to learn medical ninjutsu to appease them. After that, you're on your own."

This was all the help she could offer.

"That's plenty," Akira replied with a gleam in his eye.

Tsunade didn't understand what he was so excited about. She turned to Nawaki. "You're graduating soon. Don't slack on your training."

Before Nawaki could respond, she vanished in a Body Flicker.

"Tch. Always on my case," Nawaki grumbled.

Akira rolled his eyes. "Ungrateful. Do you know how lucky you are?"

He would've loved to have a sister like her.

Then again, as he thought about the year he had ahead of him, a sharp smile crept onto his lips.

This was Year 36 of the Hidden Leaf.

The five great nations were already sharpening their blades, tensions mounting.

Everyone thought war was still years away.

But Akira knew better.

Next year, the Second Great Ninja War would erupt.

Three years of chaos, and he welcomed it.

Ninja offered the best experience points. With a war, he could level up faster than ever, loot elite items from foreign villages, and rapidly grow stronger.

And finally, break the Caged Bird seal.

"Big bro, whose butt are we kicking first?" Nawaki asked excitedly, noticing Akira's chilling grin.

Whenever Akira wore that smile, it meant someone was in for a beating.

Akira smacked Nawaki upside the head. "First, help me find a place to stay."

"And do I look like someone who picks fights?"

He was the very embodiment of kindness and restraint.

Nawaki rubbed the back of his head and muttered, "You've stirred up more trouble than the whole school combined..."

The ninja academy was starting to feel more like a shonen manga than a school.

Akira had zero self-awareness.

...

In the end, Akira rented a small, run-down room in a quieter part of the village.

His finances could only support him for three months tops.

The moment they opened the door, a thick cloud of dust filled the air.

"Cough cough." Nawaki waved his hands frantically. "Are you sure this place is livable?"

Just from the dust, it was clear no one had stayed here for ages.

Akira's eye twitched. He looked around the one-bedroom space and couldn't help feeling that if he stayed here too long, he might give up on life entirely.

"I need to grind missions ASAP."

No way he was wasting time in this dump.

Akira turned and walked out, Nawaki following.

"Come on, let's go redistribute some wealth."

Nawaki activated his Byakugan (or rather, his own variant of sass). "And you say you're not the troublemaking type..."

"But seriously, who are we robbing, err, liberating, from?"

Akira rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "You got any money?"

Nawaki took two cautious steps back. "Big bro... You're not planning to rob me to fund your 'justice,' are you?"

Akira looked offended. "Do I seem like that kind of guy?"

Nawaki shook his head. "No."

Then added seriously:

"You ARE that kind of guy."
