Louis' Pov
The word hit me harder than I expected.
Simp?
I froze where I stood, unable to move, my mind going completely blank as I stared at her unreadable face. Me? A simp? Was that really all I was to her? Just some gullible idiot she could twist around her finger whenever she needed a human shield? Before my brain could even process what was happening, my grip loosened, my fingers slipping right off her wrist.
A loud, mocking laugh broke through the heavy silence, echoing and taunting.
Raphael took a heavy step forward, a disgusting, victorious grin plastered across his face as his eyes locked onto mine. The bastard was mocking me.
"She doesn't even want you," he taunted, his deep voice dripping with pure amusement. "And to think you came into my quarters asking to marry her, acting like you two were a thing."
I didn't answer him. I couldn't. I could feel my father's gaze burning straight into the side of my face, heavy and sharp enough to draw blood.
