Long Tian wanted to chase Scar, but an intense pain struck him, forcing him to stop.
His body writhed in pain as he spat a mouthful of blood into his palm.
Su Wan panicked when she saw this. She rushed to help him.
Long Tian felt weak as he slumped into her arms.
Everything blurred as he sighed inwardly.
This injury was an old one from when he went to the forbidden area of the devil's island.
He had tried various methods to heal it, but none were effective.
That was why he had come to China—to search for a solution… and to stay hidden from the enemies who still watched from the shadows.
His consciousness faded.
Long Tian didn't notice that some of his blood had spilled onto both necklaces.
The Nine Dragon Pendant emitted a golden glow; the Fang Necklace emitted a dark glow.
All he heard was a dragon chant and a bellow before he fell unconscious.

Long Tian felt a sharp pain as his consciousness returned. His eyes snapped open.
He found himself on a hospital bed, the smell of drugs and chemicals assaulting his nose.
How did he get here? The thought bothered him.
He then remembered the last scene before he lost consciousness. He hadn't expected his old injuries to resurface then.
He looked around and saw that his clothes had been changed into a hospital gown. He was receiving an intravenous infusion.
At his side, Su Wan was resting. The nurse attending to him noticed he was awake and hurried over.
"How do you feel, young man?" she asked.
Long Tian didn't answer.
He calmly removed the IV and looked at her.
"Where are my clothes?"
The nurse opened her mouth, wanting to tell him to rest for a while, but a cold glance from him made her swallow her words.
The commotion woke Su Wan. When she saw Long Tian awake, relief flashed across her face.
"Are you okay now?" she asked worriedly.
Long Tian wanted to keep his distance, even though he knew the doctors couldn't cure his injury. Still, he was grateful to her for bringing him here.
"Thank you for your help," he said calmly. "I have somewhere to be. May I have my clothes and belongings?"
Su Wan frowned slightly. "You should rest. And it's already late—you don't need to rush."
Hearing this, Long Tian froze.
He walked toward the window and pulled the curtain aside, only to be greeted by the scorching sun.
His expression darkened. "What time is it?"
Su Wan didn't answer verbally. She simply showed him the time on her phone.
It was already the next day—close to evening.
He had been unconscious for over twelve hours.
Long Tian rubbed his temples, imagining what his new wife must be thinking.
At this moment, he looked no different from an unfaithful husband.
He sighed, rubbing his temples.
"Just give me my clothes." He said.
Su Wan scratched her head. "Hmm… I threw them away…"
Long Tian froze. He thought he had misheard her and asked again.
He had only brought two sets of clothes—he hadn't prepared for a long stay, and his team members weren't even aware of this trip.
Silence fell as he wondered what to do.
"…But I got you another pair," Su Wan added with a giggle.
Relief flashed across Long Tian's eyes. He looked at her and said calmly,
"You should know—I am married."
He deliberately put some distance between them again.
Seeing this, the nurse quietly excused herself.
Su Wan was angry for a moment before she snorted, "I am just repaying the favor of you saving me. Don't let your thoughts wander."
"That's better." He said calmly, his words infuriating Su Wan, who was wondering whether she had lost her charm.
Long Tian thought this but didn't bother himself. He doubted they would ever meet again; within six months, he would return to Devil's Island.
He had to settle everything he came for within these six months.
He collected the clothes from her, changing into the new set of clothes.
His shirt was white, and his trousers were black.
Even though the clothes were plain, they were better than what he had worn before.
He carried his bag, saying, "May we never see each other again."
His words made Su Wan pout in anger. She watched as he left the hospital room.
A few minutes passed as she was packing, and the door was opened.
She thought it was the doctor who saw Long Tian with a sheepish smile.
"What happened?" She asked, knowing that he didn't come to apologize but for something else, seeing that sheepish smile.
Long Tian scratched his head. "Could you lend me some cash? I want to use it for my transportation."
"Hmph, why are you asking me? Why don't you ask your wife?" Su Wan snorted, paying him no heed.
Long Tian saw that she ignored him. The money he had wasn't even enough to get him halfway to his destination.
He wondered what to do. He knew that she had the amount but was sulking at the words he said, and there was no way he was going to apologize to her.
Well, he had no option but to be shameless.
"How about you use this to repay the favor of me saving your life?" Long Tian said shamelessly.
"You..." Su Wan coughed in anger, not expecting those words from him.
She looked at him, only to see his face expressionless, as if it were a normal thing to say.
Any good feelings she had for him completely disappeared.
Her gaze became cold. Even though she helped him that time because she thought he was being bullied, she never thought he was someone who valued money over other things.
She handed him the cash she had. Long Tian left without even saying goodbye.
Su Wan watched this and wondered if she had been blind before or what.
As Long Tian entered a cab, he had sensed the changes in Su Wan's emotions.
It was killing two birds with one stone.
No emotional entanglement. Also, he gained some free cash from her.
Life is so simple.
