Chapter 6 - Humiliated At The Gates (2)

Long Tian watched the crowd look at him with arrogance and disdain.

He shook his head. What they have today could be lost tomorrow.

Life itself wasn't cruel—people were. Everyone was the main character of their own story; it only depended on how they chose to play it.

Sometimes, all humans had to offer was betrayal, shame, and disgrace.

In such a world, one had to find one's own happiness, one's joy—whatever light one could grasp.

At times, it felt better to be born a stone than a human in this cruel world.

To survive, one either stepped into the darkness to find their own light… or was devoured by it.

A soft chuckle escaped Long Tian's lips as he realized what he was thinking.

Why should the ignorance of others disturb his heart?

'It seems I need to reevaluate my focus,' he thought.

As he wanted to leave, a familiar voice made him pause.

"What's going on here?" Su Wan had just alighted from her car when she saw the commotion not far from her.

Everyone fell silent at her words as all gazes turned to her.

Such a beautiful lady! They could also see the nobility unconsciously emanating from her.

Someone then recounted what had happened.

Su Wan raised her eyebrows, familiar with such a scene she hated.

Long Tian saw her and sighed inwardly.

What kind of fate is this?

He had been avoiding her, yet they kept running into each other.

Su Wan looked at the man in the center of the crowd, ready to reprimand him.

But when she saw who it was, her mouth fell open.

Long Tian noticed her shocked expression and forced a smile.

"What are you doing here?" Su Wan asked.

Her words shocked the crowd when they realized how well the two knew each other.

"As you heard," Long Tian shrugged, "I came to visit my wife. But it seems it turned into a misunderstanding."

Su Wan looked him straight in the eyes. "I thought you were lying before," she snorted.

"So what happened?" she asked curiously.

Long Tian had been branded a liar by the crowd, but she knew his character wasn't like that. It was a gut instinct.

When Long Tian heard her question, he initially didn't want to explain but found himself doing so anyway.

"Oh, so you just got married," she chuckled, not minding the strange looks from the crowd.

"What's your wife's name? Is she as beautiful as I? What's her background?" she asked inquisitively.

Long Tian frowned. Wasn't this too much? It wasn't as if they were close enough for him to reveal such things.

He kept his distance and replied calmly,

"I don't think we're close enough for that. And my wife prefers her information to remain private."

Su Wan wasn't expecting this reply, which made her embarrassed. She curled the tip of her hair and said,

"Who said I was asking? I was just worried about you. Humph, it seems my efforts are wasted." She pouted and said angrily.

Long Tian didn't take this to heart. He knew what the cause of this was. He never thought that after sealing it, it would still have an effect on some people.

The security guards saw this and coughed. They hadn't solved the matter of whether Long Tian was lying or not.

Su Wan turned to the security guards and noticed the strange gaze they were giving her, which made her more embarrassed.

"I know him. There's no way he's lying; I can vouch for him. Maybe all this is a misunderstanding." She spoke softly.

They looked at her and couldn't argue. Her background doesn't seem ordinary; the car she used to enter the estate was the latest BMW model.

And it is unwise to offend such people over measly things that don't affect them.

When Su Wan saw no objection, she dragged the unwilling Long Tian to her car.

"I am also going to the estate; why don't I drop you?" She jumped and asked.

Long Tian knew from her expression that if he rejected her, she would find all means to make him enter.

To avoid that, he agreed and entered.

The security guard and the crowd envied Long Tian's luck to be able to hook up with such a beautiful and rich lady.

They watched as the car drove away, leaving them in the dust.

The middle-aged security guard went back to his post; this was when he heard the shrill ringtone of the telephone.

Picking it up in haste, he heard the familiar voice from the Estate Villa, "000."

"Please, where is the young man? Is he still there?"

The security guard was confused but replied, "No, someone had already brought him into the estate."

"Ok, that's a huge relief. Thank you."

He wasn't able to talk before the call ended.

The security guard wondered what happened because he heard that the person said Long Tian's words were false.

Or what, is it a misconception?

This thought terrified the security guard. He was glad that he didn't stop Long Tian again. If he offends the person who lives there, that's the end of his job.

Su Wan drove towards the Villa Estate "000."

Long Tian kept silent through the journey, which made it awkward for Su Wan to strike up a conversation.

They both kept their silence until they arrived at Long Tian's destination within a few minutes.

"It seems your wife is quite rich." Su Wan chuckled when she saw the grandeur of the villa.

Long Tian just smiled; his expression remained unchanged.

This kind of villa wasn't enough to shock him, even though he was surprised that his wife had such a grand villa.

He alighted from Su Wan's car.

"Thanks for the ride. Would repay you later." Long Tian said.

"The pleasure is all mine." She laughed as she drove away.

Long Tian held his small bag while he entered the villa steadily.
