Chapter 12 - The Interview

Long Tian alighted from a taxi, dressed in a white shirt, black trousers, and white sneakers.

A golden watch adorned his right wrist. The top buttons of his shirt were undone, exposing part of his chest.

He looked at the massive building before him—a skyscraper bearing the logo "Glacier Crown."

After checking the location in the recommendation letter and comparing it with the actual address, he confirmed that he was in the right place.

He was surprised that his wife had been able to find him a job in such a place.

He approached the building, observing the many people entering and leaving.

Some glanced at him as he stepped inside.

He looked around; many security men were stationed throughout, monitoring the crowd and everyone who passed.

He saw the receptionist's desk and walked toward it.

There was more than one receptionist, so it wasn't too congested, and they were able to attend to everyone efficiently.

Long Tian brought out his recommendation letter and said, "I am here for a job interview. Can you tell me where it is?" He smiled.

The receptionist, who was male, collected the letter and entered a code into his computer system.

When he looked at the information displayed on the screen, he was shocked by who had recommended this young man.

He glanced at Long Tian, who was still smiling calmly.

He felt as though everything was beneath this young man; the overwhelming confidence—though restrained by Long Tian—was still palpable.

The realization hit him hard. He found himself at a loss for words.

Slowly, he lowered his head and checked the name under the recommendation again, only to see that it was indeed the same.

Long Tian noticed the strange glances the receptionist kept giving him, which left him slightly confused.

"Mr. Long Tian, your interview is on the 15th floor of the building. One of the front desk staff will lead you," the receptionist said, handing back the letter.

He then dialed a number on the company telephone, informing someone to come and escort Long Tian.

Not long after, a young lady arrived and asked Long Tian to follow her.

They entered the elevator. He could feel the glances she was giving him.

She maintained her distance, her gaze respectful, as if he were some forbidden existence.

This only confused him further; her expression was similar to that of the receptionist. He wondered whether anything about him had changed to cause such reactions.

Long Tian grew curious about the company and asked a question to break the silence.

"Hello, may I ask how many floors this building has?" he asked.

"Twenty-one floors, sir," she replied promptly.

Long Tian fell into thought. It seemed the job interview he was going to wouldn't be simple.

Being directed to the 15th floor for an interview was somewhat surprising, and he began to wonder what position his wife held at this company.

He wanted to ask, but he kept his thoughts to himself.

They reached the 15th floor and stepped out of the elevator. She led him to the waiting area outside the office where the interview would take place.

Long Tian slowly sat down and waited for his turn.

He wasn't the only one; he counted six others who seemed to be there for the interview.

Others were preparing, but he remained nonchalant. He sat, absorbing the information about the Divine Doctor's skills.

He had been cultivating them and had developed the Mystic Dragon Eye, the core of the Divine Doctor skills. It was more than a piece of perception art; it allowed its user to fuse spiritual awareness, life-force reading, meridian mapping, and intent detection.

There was more to it, but he was too weak.

"Long Tian."

He heard his name called, stood up, and walked into the office.

Four people were seated: a middle-aged man, two young men, and a young woman.

They glanced at Long Tian as he sat down. The moment he sat without permission, the air in the room changed.

The middle-aged man's fingers, which had been resting casually on the table, stiffened.

One of the young men narrowed his eyes slightly, his pen pausing mid-note.

The young woman's polite smile faded almost imperceptibly.

They hadn't asked him to sit, but he did. It felt like a sign of disrespect to them.

They kept their silence, but in their hearts, there was no way Long Tian was getting this job unless a miracle happened.

Long Tian saw all of this but was unconcerned.

"Welcome, Mr. Long Tian. May we see your resume?" the middle-aged man asked.

"Resumes?" he thought. He had come to the interview with nothing but the recommendation letter.

Also, due to circumstances, he hadn't been able to attend college or university, so his educational background was nonexistent.

When the interviewers saw Long Tian deep in thought, they assumed he didn't understand them.

"By that, we mean your school certificates from high school to the present," the young woman explained.

Long Tian scratched his head and said, "I have none of that."

They all thought Long Tian was joking with them, but his serious expression proved otherwise.

Long Tian used the Mystic Dragon Eye and saw the anger brewing within their bodies.

Some medical problems couldn't escape his eyes, especially the middle-aged man who had a chronic illness.

He had expected their anger; he was already planning to stand up. He didn't blame Meng Lingxue, as he believed she didn't know he had no school certificates.

"Do you have any recommendation letters? Or how did you know about the interview?"

The middle-aged man stopped the others from snapping in anger and asked the question.

The interview wasn't something they had advertised; it was only known among their staff, so only those whom the staff had informed could know about it.

When Long Tian heard the mention of the recommendation letter, he brought it out.

Thinking of standing up, he paused. In his view, it was the middle-aged man who was supposed to stand up and receive him.

However, he didn't want his wife's effort to be wasted, so he stood up and handed the recommendation letter to the middle-aged man.

The middle-aged man opened the letter and began to read, but when he saw the recommender's name, he froze in shock, his mouth falling open.

The others noticed the change in his expression and wondered what the letter contained.

"What happened?" the young woman asked.

The middle-aged man said nothing and handed her the recommendation letter.

The young woman began to read it. Meanwhile, the middle-aged man looked at Long Tian with a whirlpool of shock, surprise, and disbelief in his eyes.

Not long after, the young woman wore the same expression as the middle-aged man, leaving the two young men in suspense as one of them took the letter from her.

They both began to read, and when they finished, they shared the same expression as the others.

Long Tian observed the expressions they were wearing.

He was calm, his arm folded as the atmosphere became oppressive; they began to sweat unknowingly.

This impacted the interview panels; one of the young men's chairs screeched violently against the floor as he stood up, staggering.

"Impossible..." The young men roared in disbelief.
