"Th…is is a joke ri…ght?"
A young man painstakingly lifted up a box, carrying it sluggishly atop his shoulders.
"Where %^#* hell d#*% it come from?"
He dumped the box lackadaisically, collapsing onto the floor with a sigh.
"No— this %#^* be the end."
The slothful boy spread his legs, before reaching into his pocket for a crumpled manga.
"This can't be— HOW I DIE!"
"ARGHHHHHHHH!!!!!" The young man howled into the air, his grip growing abusively tight against his already roughed up manga.
"This is absolute garbage!"
He grumbled once more, pressing his widened eyes onto the page of the manga, before letting off another upsetting roar.
"This is why I absolutely hate reading Boruto!"
Wham!
His boss hammered her fist into his head, cutting his crazed protests short.
"How many times have I told you, no reading during work hours Jack!"
Jack held onto his head in pain, before springing back to his feet.
"Ohh Boss lady." His frowns transformed into a shrewd smile. "You're back already."
Her eyes narrowed with contempt, reflecting the embers of her wrath as she stared at the unapologetic young man.
"Tch. I just got back from getting some stuff to restock the bakery—"
His Boss abruptly cut her statement short, shifting her attention away from Jack, and towards the boxes of doughnuts stacked disorderly beside his feet.
The same ones she had asked him to deliver before her departure.
"E…m— I'll have it done right away Boss lady." Jack jerked, immediately stacking five boxes in his arms, before scurrying off to avoid the crash out of the century.
Now outside, Jack strapped the boxes firmly onto his scooter and gave it a hard spank across its leather seat.
A joyous smirk was pasted across his face.
This had been his life for almost 6 months.
Maybe just a bit of more months of hard work, and he'd finally be able to afford the large tuition fees that came with going to a decent college.
He had penned down the necessary calculations.
A morning shift, one at noon, and one at night. In just about 2 years he'd have saved all the peanuts he was earning, and maybe he would be able to afford the luxury of college.
Yup, this vermin-like reality was his life. The reality of an orphan like himself.
Jack fixed his helmet, shaking his head in his misery before plastering a wide smile across his face.
But this smile was fake.
He dragged his scooter towards the road, then looked both ways to ensure the road was clear.
It was completely clear.
With no vehicles in sight, Jack solemnly pushed his scooter into the street. But what happened next was something he couldn't imagine in his wildest dreams.
Bright headlights flashed into his vision, the sound of speeding tires haunting his hearing like a nightmare.
"Huh?"
A Semi truck crashed into him like a racing train, sending blood and bones flying into the air.
"Huh?"
His body catapulted like a rag doll, scrapping the tarred road to leave a sickening trail of blood.
'Th…is is a joke ri…ght?'
A single question echoed through Jack's mind as his desecrated body pulsed with unbearable pain.
'Where the hell did it come from?' His eyes arduously moved towards the truck and back to the ground.
'You've got to be kidding me right?"
As though the dam that had held back his despair all his life was shattered into a million pieces, his eyes suddenly began flooding with tears.
Jack's weak gaze caught his manga just a few inches from his body.
The book now a bloodied mess laid desiccated on the tarred road.
'No— this can't be the end.' He felt like his soul was slowly fizzling out of his now dying body. And his vision was growing duller and duller with each anguishing moment.
"This can't be— HOW I DIE!"
His vision blurred out of focus, a cold chill filling his being before darkness eroded his sight.
He was dead.
However, for some reason, he felt a gentle and somewhat angelic voice call onto his name.
His hearing was still dull, but just ample enough to catch the muffled sounds.
Jack's eyes slowly snapped open. Weakly inquiring where he currently was.
He was levitating in what seemed like a never ending pit of darkness, a bottomless abyss that stretched as far as the eye could see.
Trapped in an eternal murk of infinitesimal gloom that swallowed layers upon layers of darkness.
But in the midst of that darkness, something bright gleamed into his vision. An otherworldly figure emerged before him.
Her hair stretched behind her back like a rainbow, swaying in the airless void with celestial grace. And her eyes were as white as ivory, her skin as spotless as snow.
"Please, accept this world, thrive in it, dominate it." She drew nearer to him, her arms spread wide.
"And when you grow to be strong enough—" A sorrowful tear drifted across her cheek.
"Save this world— Then come and save me."
With a touch unto his forehead, Jack felt as though his soul was set ablaze.
The once gloomy world was cast into a bright chaos, the realm burning away like a distant memory.
But before Jack's consciousness once again faded into obscurity, he couldn't help but notice.
"Ho…rns?"
WHOOSH!
He jerked for life, his breath growing heavier with each passing moment.
'I'm alive?' He patted across his body, searching for his earlier injuries.
There were no injuries, nor bruises.
His organs were perfectly fixed in place, and his torturous pain had subsided. So why did the young man have such a panicked expression on his face?
Because he was now hundreds of feet in the air, plummeting down to his demise.
And right in front of him, stationed in what seemed like a village wreaked in havoc stood a ghostly beast, its nine devilish tails sweeping across the horizon.
But before he could react, a spark of blue flashed before his eyes, a blue screen conjuring from thin air right before him.
