Obito immediately froze in his steps, his eyes widening as he turned his attention back to the mysterious boy.
His mind had once again been made into a circus, his thoughts becoming a playground to a myriad of musings, all aimed at a single pressing question.
"How do you know who I am?" A cold and yet somewhat startled tone followed Obito's question.
"Well." Kagero placed his finger under his lip, rolling his eyes backwards before returning his gaze to Obito.
The latter listened anxiously, his eyes narrowing and his ears perked as he focused on the Boy's next words
"That's because—" Kagero cut his statement with an abrupt pause.
Before beginning a very irking stream of laughs.
"You really are gullible aren't you." He wiped a tear from his eyes, holding onto his belly amidst his snickers.
The Masked man's eyes immediately widened in fury, and the air around him grew wild from the flames of his bloodlust as he responded to the giggling Boy.
"What is the meaning of this?"
Kagero let out a breath, cutting his chuckles short before continuing.
"What I mean is…"
Under the eyes of the moon-lit night, a Kunai spun in the air, before descending into Kagero grasp.
"…You're gonna have to play with me for a bit to get the answers, aren't you?"
"Oh?" Obito almost broke into a laugh.
"Beating the answers out of a brat shouldn't take long at all." A gleam of metal slipped through his sleeve, falling right into his hold.
"But don't die before confessing… Little one."
Obito moved like a ghost, the red lines of his sharingan following right behind him in his frenzied attack.
Clang!
Steel met steel as both sides clashed their kunais with a loud clatter.
'Darn!' Kagero was pushed back, but he parried his momentum, twisting his body in the air to catch his balance.
'He's even cooler in person.'
A fanatic like thought echoed through his head. But he shook it, exiling those thoughts with a swat across his face.
WHOOSH
A beam of red light flashed behind him, as Obito's eyes burned with killer intent.
He countered the vengeful Uchiha's attack with his own, cursing the air once more with a metallic ring.
Using the force built up from their collision, Obito pounced backwards, bouncing forward like a puma for a consecutive myriad of slashes.
Kagero blocked each, an attack managing to slip past his defenses on each altercation.
'I can see it.'
A slash cut through his arm.
'I can see it.'
Sharp pain pulsed across his side.
"I can see it!"
His blade met Obito's, the latter managing to barely graze the side of his eyes.
Droplets of blood painted the ground.
But that was exactly what Kagero wanted. Get him close enough, then.
Boom!
Like a human trebuchet, Kagero flung himself forward, delivering a gut busting kick with the entirety of his being.
But his attack never made contact.
"Tch." Kagero gritted his teeth, watching himself pass through Obito as though slipping through molecules of gas.
He crashed onto the ground from his uncontrollable motion, before parrying his built up kinetic energy, and twisting his body with a leap onto his feet.
But he was too late.
Like a Tiger whose prey was locked in its sight, Obito dashed forward, tightly grabbing onto Kagero's shoulders before reciting two melancholic words.
"It's over." Kagero's body suddenly began to twist in an unnatural manner, under the melovalent illumination of Obito's Sharingan.
Using Kamui, his time/space ninjutsu, Obito planned on capturing Kagero for later.
He would only come back to interrogate the boy after reducing the village to fire and ashes.
However, the boy who was in the very brunt of his plan had spent the majority of his life reading about this world…
Obito included.
Like a higher being that observed a lower realm from an ascended dimension. Kagero knew Obito's attack patterns, his behavior, his ideals.
And possessed knowledge even down to the very number of hairs on Obito's head…
Well, maybe he didn't have that much information.
But he knew just enough to predict some of Obito's moves during this fight. Especially how he used his Kamui.
'Now!'
Kagero opened his palm, letting out a strange looking piece of paper calligraphed with seals all through its body.
It was a paper bomb!
Like a black hole which sucked in everything in its sights, Obito's Kamui drew the paper bomb towards him, before erupting with a deafening explosion.
Boom!
The blast echoed across the village, its heavy force slapping Kagero to the side with a violent thud onto the ground.
'How is that?' Kagero staggered back to his feet, favoring his side which ached in slight pain from the blast's whiplash.
He hardened his eyes, piercing his gaze towards the clouds of smoke that stood just a few feet away from him.
The area where the blood thirsty Uchiha ought to be.
"Did I get him?—"
"[Look out!]"
An internal warning thrummed in Kagero's head, cutting him short. It alerted him to the awe inspiring scene which played before him.
His hearing was invaded by the crackling cries of igniting flames.
His nostrils were assaulted by the smell of burning embers.
And his eyes reflected a radiant orange glow as he stared in sheer stupefaction, at the gargantuan fire ball that raged in his direction.
But despite all the theatrics which unraveled in his sight, Kagero found himself falling victim to an old habit.
One that an Otaku such as himself practiced in the mirror every single day.
Yes, in that very moment, Kagero found himself—
Playing Ninja?!
Watching the humongous ball of flames leap closer and closer to him, and seeing the fact that he had no way to evade the attack.
Kagero unexpectedly felt his subconscious mind start to pilot his arms into weaving six distinct hand signs.
'Nah…' A wide smirk stretched across Kagero's face. 'There's no freaking way!'
Suddenly, as though he bore a raging tempest within his being, magnitudes of chakra started to well up through his body, spinning in a coordinated manner before making its way to his chest.
"Fire Style!" Kagero's entire chest swelled as gusts of blazing flames rioted to let them loose.
"Dragon Bomb!"
Like the fiery tongues of a dragon's breath, torrents of fiery flames came bursting out of Kagero's breath, right onto the massive ball of similar countenance.
Each infernal disaster stood its ground, engulfing the very grounds.
The wrathful flames obliterated the rocks into pebbles and ash in their infernal dance of destruction.
Kagero felt as though his body was set ablaze, and the heat from the two jutsu's collision was scorching his skin with each passing moment.
But he couldn't stop just yet, he had to keep on pouring his flames, else.
He would be consumed.
Riding on his will to live as much needed fuel, Kagero swirled a chaotic amount of chakra through his body, till he felt as though his chakra points were wailing for him to stop.
And then he metamorphosed it into flames, releasing an eruption of violent flares into the battlefield.
Like a breached dam, wrathful scourges of embers shot forth from his lips.
They grew increasingly hotter and hotter each passing moment.
From yellow to orange, and then till they finally clad themselves in a deep and devilish red gleam, before—
BOOM!
