Bam!!
The white truck slammed into Ren, sending him flying into the air. His legs parted, his hands spread, his eyes wide open, and his books flew all around him.
His body crashed to the ground with a loud Thud, his books scattering beside him. The truck had stopped, and people gathered, staring pitifully at the young man bleeding on the ground.
Ren gasped. His vision was blurry as he stared into the morning sky, his whole life flashing before his eyes.
Ren was twenty-five years old, gay, a BL addict, lazy, and unemployed. He couldn't say he had achieved anything significant in life except for being an avid BL enthusiast and owning a BL fan account with over ten thousand followers [if that counted].
After he quit his last job because he found it too stressful, Ren spent his days indoors, binging all available BL novels he had added to his endless "To Be Read" list. He kept buying more BLs as though he didn't have rent due in three days.
Currently, he was reading a really popular Danmei novel called; Love Beyond Celestial Vows.
He had binged the five volumes he bought the other day, and just that morning, he was off to the bookstore to buy the remaining five. Ren was leaving the bookstore and making his way across the road when the truck hit him.
Ren scoffed as blood ran down his forehead. He couldn't believe his life was coming to an end. He slowly stretched out his hand and picked up a volume—Volume 6.
The last volume he read had ended with the main couple about to have their first kiss and first night together! [As per the spoilers he found online!]
So Ren knew within himself that he wanted to see that scene in case he didn't make it. He needed to read it.
As he flipped through the pages, struggling for his last breath, the bystanders were shocked.
"What's he doing?!"
"Is he reading now?!"
"Is he that much of a bookworm?!"
"He must be a smart nerd!"
"Someone call the ambulance! We can't lose our future doctor or lawyer!"—they probably thought he was reading for an important exam or something.
Ren gasped as he read the line, the line that confirmed the kiss. He wanted to read more, more into the kiss and the smut. But fate was cruel, and he ran out of breath.
Eyes shut, breath out. Ren passed out in that moment.

[Rebirth/Transmigration Successful!]
A beep and a voice were what woke him up. Ren moved his body uncomfortably before even opening his eyes. His body brushed against some stones at his sides. He was literally laying on hard rock!
Ren opened his eyes and looked around. In the dim red light, he could see that he was inside a coffin made of rock. There was no cover above.
"What the hell?" he thought as he looked around. His whole body ached like that of someone who had been in here for ages!
Ren struggled and sat up. He was really in a coffin!
He stretched himself out while looking around. He wondered where he was, since he was probably dead. The cave-like scenery before him didn't seem like the afterlife at all. They couldn't be that poor.
Just as he stretched, he noticed his body. Or rather, his clothes. He looked down.
He was wearing a long purple silk garment, a robe or something, one that looked like what people in historical Chinese times would wear.
He felt his hair. It was long and dark, left loose and shabby. Ren ran his hands through it. "What is this?"

Two things stung Ren at that moment: First, he was reborn?! And secondly, into a novel he was just reading?!
He thought this only happened in novels or something! He had actually never imagined that it would happen to someone like him.
Maybe because he had read too many novels?! He thought.
Ren stared at the blue screen before him. "So, where am I in the novel? What am I? The male lead?" He figured being in his current favourite novel wouldn't be that bad.

Ren felt his brief happiness shatter in that moment. This was absurd!
He would be okay if he was just a side character or something—if not a lead role—but being a villain?! And the pathetic NINE-TAILED FOX DEMON GOD at that?!
Fate really hated him!
Born of the noble Nine-Tailed Fox Demon clan, this villain character, known as YeHu, was famous for becoming a god at a young age! He became the only surviving nine-tailed fox demon after his clan was wiped out by the heavens in the Sacred War years ago.
And so, this villain swore to avenge his people. He rebelled against the heavens, going against their laws and doing a lot of nasty, evil things in the world. But the heavens successfully sealed him away in this mountain in another war that took place 1,000 years ago, known as the Mist War.
Ren scoffed, feeling pathetic. He ran a hand through his messy hair while digesting his current fate.
He had become the villain he hated the most—a pathetic character who led another army of demon beasts shortly after he awakened to fight the heavens, and in the end, was killed by the male lead of the book: The Celestial Beast Prince.
Ren shook his head; this was absurd! He couldn't end up like that. He couldn't live through that stressful life of being a villainous demon god, hated by all and dying a pathetic death in the end.
With puppy eyes on, Ren stared up at the System and pleaded, "Can I change my role? I am okay with being a noodle vendor by the roadside!"
[No. You cannot change it. It has already been destined.]
Fuck, Ren thought. He certainly couldn't live like this!
Just then, a smart idea came to his mind.
The role was just a tag, and he could choose not to live through the same stupid decisions and life the character lived through!
He could change his fate by being different from the bloodthirsty, tyrant, devilish demon god.
He smiled. "Okay then. I'll just be the demon god in name. But from today onwards, I'm officially retiring from the stress of the job involved!"

QUICK AUTHOR NOTE ON NOVEL WORLD.
This world assumes a typical xianxia world set-up of three main realms in which the world is divided;
1. HEAVENLY REALM, 2. MORTAL REALM[HUMAN REALM], 3. DEMON REALM.
THE HEAVENLY REALM AND DEMON REALM are further divided into SECTS OR CLANS OR REGIONS. Eg. There exists the GOD SECT/REALM in THE HEAVENLY REALM.
Element of BEASTWORLD is thus infused into this setting whereby beings of THE HEAVENLY REALM AND DEMON REALM are spiritual beasts beings. That is to say, beings in these two realms are animal beings. And can be of any animals. They can either be dragons, foxes, lion, tiger etc. And This gives rise to the subdivision in these realms.
Eg. The existence of A CELESTIAL FOX CLAN in THE HEAVENLY REALM or THE DEATH SEASNAKE CLAN of THE DEMON REALM. and so on.
Note: MORTAL REALM only have Normal Humans. They are not beasts or animals. And abide by the normal earth division of Countries, states, villages etc.
BEINGS OF THE HEAVENLY REALM can either take the form of a full human, An animal (beast form) or hybrid of half human, half beasts.
BEINGS OF THE DEMON REALM can either take beast forms (animal forms), Hybrid form of half human, half beasts.ONLY a few who have attained great power and cultivation can take full human forms. Eg., DEMON GODS. etc.
