Chapter 32 - 32:New

I held the slave's bloodied hands.

"Tell me what is going on?"

She started shivering, and her eyes started to glaze over, she was losing it. I pushed her aside forcefully and ran in the direction she had come from, following the blood drops.

"No! No! No!...."

I mumbled to myself as it occurred to me where the blood drops were leading.

"Get the operating room ready now!"

I shouted to no one in particular as my feet pounded heavily on the floor the noise echoing in the lab. I could hear my blood vessels pumping blood faster.

The closer I got, the more blood I saw. Footprints, handprints, all blood. I could barely hear the others. The only thing that was racing in my mind was please, no!

I arrived in front of the open cell, and the blood had started to pool on the floor as the woman producing it watched me with a twisted smile on her face.

"You stupid woman what have you done?"

Was the only thing that got out of my mouth as I knelt beside the bleeding joy. She had pierced her stomach with a metal object.

I didn't have time to wonder how she had even done.

"Since you...aah...want this...abomination so much.....then....*cough*.... it should die."

She mumbled venomously as her mouth spilled blood. They really did mean it when they said a mouse will bite when cornered.

"Unfortunately for you, you chose the wrong time to stab yourself. "

I got out my surgical tool from my space ring and organized it next to her body.

"We're going to have to remove it," I said to Luna, who was kneeling opposite me," we'll have to cut her open right here. She's dying anyway. "

"Karma will one day bite..."

Joy tried to mumble, but her consciousness seemed to have started to disappear.

"Abeloin, could you prepare the incubation tank? The child is too young to stay out for long."

It was good to be prepared ahead of time. I had had a feeling something bad might happen and it seemed to have come through.

"Hold her down, she might wake up due to pain. I'm going to be quick since I'm not sure if the baby was pierced through. "

I told Luna, who nodded. She took both her hands and held them on her chest, and her other hand held her tights.

"Okay."

I mumbled to myself and started to cut from her navel downwards, it was enough for me to pull the baby out. The cut was fast.

I had used a knife since a Scapel would have taken longer. After finishing the cut i pushed my hands into her open wound and into her womb.

She woke up screaming the moment my hand touched the baby's leg. She tried to struggle, but Luna held her down firmly.

Blair had decided to be helpful after his initial shock and held down her legs while occasionally wiping my dripping sweat.

"I can feel the leg and the umbilical cord ."

I said as I pushed my hands deeper, touching the still baby until I got to the head.

It was unharmed. The metal had narrowly missed its head. The girl had really planned well.

"I'm going to turn it."

I warned both of them and started to turn the baby carefully and slowly. Joy was screaming her mind off. Her voice was getting lower and lower as she started to lose it.

"I can see the head."

Blair shouted excitedly as I pulled the bloodied baby out slowly. Its eyes were still closed, but I could feel its pulse under my fingers. Strong.

"It's alive and kicking. "

I said as I finished pulling out its leg. Joy had gone silent at some point. I looked down at the bloodied baby and smiled, it came out alive and well.

"Its a girl."

I said softly, turning to Luna, who squeezed a smile. Then the most exciting thing happened, she opened her eyes and pink eyes stared at me curiously.

"Young master the incubation tank is ready."

Abelion shouted as he ran into the cell. My smile vanished, and I walked out of the cell hurriedly. Despite how impressive she was, she had just entered seven months, and I wanted her to have the perfect nine-month birth.

A premature birth wouldn't be the best. Abelion led me just a few steps from where we kept the slaves and came to a stop in front of an already liquid-filled chamber.

'Lavitate '

A spell appeared under me, and I floated to the top of the tank. I looked down at the baby who still had her umbilical cord attached before putting her into the solution.

This was almost a replica of a mother's womb. Probably better since I had added things that would help her during her fetal growth.

A baby is easier for them to abserve since their bodies are still learning its functions. That was why most people loved to experiment on children.

"She should be fine inside. "

I said to the others who had gathered to look at the child floating in the middle of the chamber. She didn't have much hair but she fortunately didn't have baby wrinkles.

She looked like a doll curled in the tank. She had gone back to the position a child would hold in a mothers womb and her eyes were closed again.

"That was a traumatising welcome. "

Blair joked while looking at his bloody hands.

"How did she even manage to tear herself from the chains and wall?"

I asked Donovan since he was the one who spent most of his time in the lab when he wasn't adventuring or acting like a vigilante somewhere.

"She broke all the bones in her wrist and pulled it out of the lock. The thing she used to stab her stomach was part of the wall chain. Its the one that holds the chains inside the wall. She probably pulled it out."

"Now that is some dedication, she really hated the child."

I said with a small chuckle.

"I told you about that remember, but you ignored it."

Donovan said in an accusatory tone. I really deserved that; he had warmed me, but I had justified it with the fact that she was pregnant and wouldn't be able to do anything.

The best way to learn about something is always through life lessons. I will never assume someone is weak with only one glance. It was better to crash it or lock it up tight without debate.

This incident had been an oversight on my part.

"The strengthening potion you injected into her might have also caused this, master."

Luna said. Yes, I had been injecting the baby with strengthening potions, but there has to be some that might have touched her.

"Is she dead?"

I asked Luna. She nodded.

"She died when the baby's head came out."

I nodded. It was such a pity she didn't get to see her child. I had never planned on killing her since she brought me such a perfect gift but she had decided to die.

"Give her a good burial. Bury her in the church's graves and don't forget the holy water."

"You are really determined to keep her quiet?"

Blair said in amusement. I nodded.

"Ghosts talk a lot and since the church graves are always blessed, she won't have a chance."

It was better to be cautious.

"What about the chain problem young master?"

Abelion asked.

"I plan on reinforcing it with magic since these are the best ones in the market. "

I said thoughtfully.

"I can make them, then you can reinforce them."

Abeloin said softly. He was clearly not confident in himself or his suggestion.

"That would be wonderful. I'll reward you well if it works."

Abeloin smiled and nodded enthusiastically. He turned around and pulled Isis, who was standing beside him, into a hug.

"How long will she be inside the incubation?"

Blair asked curiously pointing at the child.

"Until her birth or more. It will depend on her growth and response."

I said while looking up at her. She had already met most of my requirements for a newborn so i did have high hopes for her.

"The day just keeps on getting crazier and crazier. I might just one day go crazy. "

Donovan mumbled to himself but we could all hear what he was saying. He didn't seem to care. He was putting on gloves and preparing a body bag for Joy's burial.

"Hey you, yes you," he pointed at one of the cleaning slaves who was also going to the cell with cleaning supplies, " you alone won't be enough call three more. I want that place smelling like roses."

I shook my head at his shouts. The day had really been crazy.

"Master would you like to go home or are you spending the night?"

Luna asked cautiously. I shook my head and looked at the child.

"I think we'll be spending the night. Send a letter to Seraph informing her."

"Yes, master."
