"Your birthday is coming?"
"Yeah it's on 15"
"Well then Happy Birthday in advance."
"Why in advance? You can wish me on 15, I'll be back by evening as my friends have planned a small birthday party for me. Would you mind joining me on my birthday bash?"
"I don't like parties sorry"
"Ah, don't be sorry, I understand that.
But if will not be able to join me then I'll come to you before my birthday ends... that's my promise"
"Alright hoshi. It's time to live up to your words"
Hoshi took a deep breath, feeling nervous as he looked up at his wrist watch which yuta have returned him seeing it was very late but hoshi don't know why he really want to celebrate his birthday with his new friend even if it just 15 minutes left in it to get over.
"What if he is already asleep? I don't want to ruin his sleep time" Hoshi thought being in a delima about whether he should press the door bell or leave?
"If he didn't opened the door in five minutes then it will mean he is asleep and if that happen I'll leave. Yeah that's good, ok... God please don't crumble my hopes specially not on my birthday"
Hoshi took a deep breath and press the door bell feeling his heart pondering well lucky for him that all his friends are dead asleep at haechan's place after too much drinking and exhaustion otherwise If someone had saw him here at this time, it will mean no good for hoshi.
But seeing the suspicious look jeonghan, taeyong, haechan and jungwoo gave to hoshi when he refused to drink more than one bottle of soju.
Hoshi is sure they have seen right through his lie of he will have to go to work tommorow and can't take the risk of looking like he is having heavy hangover.
"He still didn't opened the door" Hoshi said checking time it's already been over three minutes,
"I think he is asleep... better get going then, goodbye my hopes" Hoshi said feeling disheartened before turning around to leave and as if universe in on hoshi's side today, the door opened revealing yuta who didn't look like he was sleeping at all.
"So you are awake!" Yuta point his hand out in the air signalling hoshi to keep his voice low as he don't want the neighbours to wake up and hoshi getting the idea smiled apologetically before yuta back away to let hoshi come in.
"I thought you were asleep" Hoshi said removing his shoes looking towards yuta who was standing besides him leaning on the door.
"I wasn't"
"Then what took you this long to open the door?" Hoshi said turning around to look the Japanese male properly "I was busy doing something" yuta said making his way to the living room with hoshi trailing behind him.
"Busy gathering courage maybe" Hoshi teased having an evil smile plastered on his face and when yuta didn't turned around to give him a look like he usually do at such remarks and silently moved toward the kitchen, hoshi knows he hit the right spot.
"I really didn't expected that you will actually show up" yuta said while pouring hoshi a glass of water when hoshi was busy in putting off his leather jacket he was wearing since the evening.
"I know but from now on you should be aware of the fact that I don't give false promises"
Hoshi said approaching yuta in the kitchen standing across him on the kitchen island accepting the glass of water happily and yuta hummed still feeling surprised and now he is sure about one thing that hoshi is literally opposite to what yuta had perceive about him.
He always thought hoshi is just one carefree, free spirited and a happy-go-lucky guy who don't seems to take things seriously but he is proven wrong once again.
"I haven't prepared anything for you, because I thought you were joking around that day"
yuta said checking the wall clock it front of him to see it was just five more minutes left in hoshi's birthday to be over then looking back at hoshi who was looking at him with a smile before standing straight.
"It's not a big deal, being able to be here with you right now, is more than enough"
Hoshi said without thinking twice and let his actual feelings slip out, seeing the unreadable look yuta gave him hoshi realised how cringy he had sounded rubbing his temples in awkwardness hoshi quickly corrected himself.
"Sorry it just I am a bit drunk so I am saying whatever is coming into my mind"
Hoshi apologised even though he didn't had to, yuta is not an idiot to not understand how hoshi actually feels about him, ever since there first encounter yuta can sense that hoshi somehow feels something for him but yuta is not in the condition to accept any of it no matter how hard he wants to.
"Excuse me"
Hoshi said going back to sit on the couch leaving yuta to stand alone in the kitchen, yuta shook his head to clear his thoughts before ruffling his hairs in desperation.
He just can't let hoshi's birthday pass away like that not specially when the birthday is right here in front of him searching for something in his jacket.
"Ah! Found it" Exclaimed hoshi happily after finally founding the small square shape wooden box.
"Hyu-- yuta ssi, come here I have to show you something"
Hoshi said feeling grateful to stop himself from a dressing yuta as hyung as he know yuta don't have some specific disliking toward that particular word God knows why,.
Holding the box tight hoshi excitedly turned around to call for the Japanese once again who don't seems to hear the calling for his name at one go but that wasn't the case.
"Oh?" Hoshi smile turned into an surprised pikachu face when he saw yuta making his way toward him with careful steps as he don't want the candle to blow out in the way which were placed on top of donuts.
Processing what was happening hoshi's smiled returned back on his face, quickly standing up from the couch he move towards yuta covering the candle to prevent it from blowing off.
"Happy Birthday.... sorry I am not comfortable signing a birthday song."
yuta said honesty in a low tone as he is really not used to of doing such things now, feeling himself getting shy and awkward because of how hoshi quickly shook his head in no saying it's alright yuta can't help but feel heat rushing to his face as he wasn't able to maintain eye contact with hoshi for any long.
Seeing how hoshi was keep on staring at the donuts like he is seeing it for the first time yuta had to snap hoshi back to reality as he saw the time was running out.
"Stop staring at it" yuta said bringing hoshi back to reality who blinked in confusion before looking at yuta with doe eyes filled with surprise happiness, yuta had to shake his head to stop himself from adoring hoshi who was looking like a baby right now.
"Time is running out, Make a wish and blew the candle"
yuta reminded softly and the birthday boy quickly nodded, clasping his hands together, shutting his eyes hoshi made a wish and finally blew out the candle placing it aside on corner of the plate grab the donut offering it to yuta first.
Not wanting to spoil hoshi's mood by refusing to take a bite from his hand yuta hesitantly took a bite before taking the donut from hoshi's hand.
"Aren't you going to feed me?"
Hoshi asked with a eagerness like that of a baby if it was some other day or someone else might have been on hoshi's place yuta would have probably said no without caring about the person might feel.
But as it's hoshi yuta said nothing but offer the same donut to hoshi and the male being so happy didn't wasted any moment to take a bite.
"Happy Birthday " yuta said earning one of the most cutest and genuine smile from hoshi as a thankyou and at the same time the clock hitted 12 signalling the birthday is over.
"So you have planned all this before?" Hoshi asked while chewing on the donut sitting comfortably on the couch with leaning on it.
"No, actually I was just reminded that I had bought donuts coming back from work but then i got busy with my work that it slipped out my mind until I opened the refrigerator"
yuta who was sitting on the other side of the same couch with donut in his hand told the Korean male who just nodded back in response as he was too busy savouring his food even though he had ate a lot in the party hours ago and now that seems like a distant memory for hoshi.
"Thankyou" Hoshi said dusting his hands off after taking the last bite before shifting his position slightly to face yuta properly who gave him a confused look.
"For Donuts?" Asked yuta earning a chuckle.
"No, Thankyou for making my birthday a lot more special." Hoshi said wholeheartedly receiving a rather doubtful look from yuta.
"You don't have to fake compliment me" yuta said as he felt like hoshi is just complimenting him for the sake of the situation, as yuta thinking about the situation from his past experienced he knows people don't compliment him unless they want something from him.
"Why will I fake it? I never compliment others unless I really feel it"
Hoshi said feeling a bit triggered thinking that yuta still can't trust him about anything and think of himself as some dishonest person.
Sensing the uneasy look of hoshi yuta realised he again kind of misjudged the Korean male being fast enough to apologise for his mistake yuta paused midway through his words when hoshi spoke up.
"Forget it, I have bought something for you.. here"
Hoshi said after a long sigh regaining back his cheerful mannerism while passing the wooden box he was carrying earlier to yuta who took it without asking a question.
seeing how hoshi was looking at him getting waiting eagerly for yuta to open the box yuta huffed and opened the box to see it was a beautiful designed crystal shape earing a bit similar in design as that of yuta wears.
The only difference is the one yuta wear is of silver and the one hoshi bought is of platinum.
"How is it?" Hoshi asked with eyes getting wide in anticipation and yuta not having a proper word to come up with gave hoshi a look of amusement.
"Why did you bought such an expensive thing? Isn't it your birthday I should be the one to give you something" yuta said little bewildered seeing the gift hoshi has bought him.
"Because i wanted to! I believe you love wearing that crystal earing a lot and undoubetly it suits your look so thought why not bought you the same peice with a different design in platinum? That's why, i want to see how it looks on you if you don't mind then try it"
Hoshi said in anticipation but yuta was highly unsure about it.
"I'll take it as my birthday present if you wear it even just for a second, please." Seeing hoshi is not going to back off that easily yuta looked down at the present not feeling right about it.
"Is it OK with you if I accept this present and Wear it sometimes later? I don't think it's the right time for me to wear it" yuta asked looking at hoshi who thought about for a moment before nodding with a small smile.
"You accepting my present seems to be more than enough for now" Hoshi said somehow understanding that he can't force yuta to do something he is not sure about.
"Thankyou" yuta said and placed the box back on the table before looking back at hoshi who was seems to be in a daze.
"You know... yuta said getting hoshi attention back on him.. there is one thing that set you apart from those who I know" yuta said feeling himself getting mesmerised by the male who is sitting there besides him.
"You are very understanding" Hoshi smiled feeling proud to recieve such compliment.
"Thankyou.... Umm now can I ask you for something?" Receiving a hum as a response from yuta, hoshi smiled sheepishly before opening his mouth to speak.
"I am too tired to go to my house so can I just crash here tonight?"
Hoshi said squinting his eyes in hopes that yuta will say yes and of course hoshi being God's favorite child today have his luck shining brightly seeing yuta passed a slow chuckled while pushing back his hairs off from his face before giving hoshi a nod of approval making the Korean male happy.
"You are indeed looking quite tired, the room next to mine is in perfect shape luckily so you can go sleep there" Hoshi smiled happily quickly standing up from the couch grabbing his phone and jacket before giving yuta a questionable look when the Japanese instead of getting ready to go to bed has opened his laptop which was placed on the table.
"Are not you going to sleep?" Hoshi asked standing there giving yuta questionable looks.
"Later" hearing yuta's answer hoshi couldn't help but pass a scoff "Don't you have to go to work tommorow?" Asked hoshi start cross questioning the Japanese male who was shake his head in no.
"I have a day off" and that explains everything hoshi not having anything else to say just huffed tiredly.
"You shouldn't wake up for this late" Hoshi said in a worrisome manner to which yuta just hummed like it's not a big deal.
"I am used to of it"
"But still!" Hoshi said putting emphasis on his words making yuta sigh it looks like he'll have to give in unless hoshi won't stop standing there glaring at him.
"Fine" sighing in defeat yuta closed his laptop and stood up earning a that's good look from hoshi signalling the Korean to walk first yuta first put the dishes in washbasin and then went back to his room with his laptop as hoshi won't be able to know about if yuta's is asleep or still working.
Feeling proud of his plan yuta went to his room just to see hoshi there lying at the edge of his bed giving yuta a proud smirk.
"I knew you would do something like this, that's why" Hoshi told yuta who didn't knew how to react standing there for a good minute he huffed before getting inside closing the door behind him, placing the laptop at his study desk yuta turned around to look at hoshi who was fully set to go to sleep.
"Never knew you were this cunning" joining hoshi on the bed arranging the pillow yuta said giving hoshi a dissaponting look.
"You and some of my friends share this similar habit that's why I am aware of such tactics" replied hoshi lying down comfortably besides yuta while maintaining a respectful distance.
"Of course" yuta said rolling his eyes before giving hoshi a final look "Good night" yuta said shifting his position to the other side of the bed and turned off the lights expect one to not to let the room get totally dark.
Hoshi who didn't even get the chance to greet back pocking his tongue in annoyance before speaking up in a low tone .
"Btw... why do you sleep this late?" Hoshi asked staring at the ceilings waiting for a reply which came after a minute
"Because of office work" squinting his eyes in confusion hoshi tilted his head at yuta's side who was currently back facing him.
"Is your work that hectic?"
"Not usually but from past sometimes it is"
yuta don't even know why he is answering to all questions when he can simply tell hoshi to shut up or even better pretend that he is fallen asleep but seeing how cunning hoshi is despite looking absolutely clueless most of the time yuta don't want to take any risk.
"Why?" Hoshi asked showing genuine interest completely forgetting the fact that he needs to sleep.
"It's nothing" scoffing mentally hoshi rolled his eyes of course yuta won't tell him anything, giving his curiosity a break hoshi decided to not to not to being a pushover.
"Don't push yourself too much" Hoshi said in a whispering tone earning a hum from yuta.
"Goodnight" yuta said hinting hoshi to not to ask or say anything getting the hint very well hoshi can't help but let out a slow chuckle before saying the same thing as the older male and shifting his position turning his back on the Japanese slowly letting the sleep to overtake him.
