Valen turned and bowed her head to the king, as she slowly raised her head back, Draegor grabbed her from behind and tried to punch her but her reflexes were just too fast, she weaved quickly and wanted to punch him, her fists were inches away from him, his big body towered hers but her aura was unmatched.
"Learn to accept defeat sometimes, you'd learn from it," she pushed him back and faced the King who stood and started clapping.
He burst into an uncontrollably laughter shooking everyone, "General...I never knew I would see such a spectacular performance from you, the mighty Draegor being defeated by a puny wolf...Classic!"
Valen noticed Draegor fold his fists again, he faced the king and bowed, "there's a first time for everything, he was barely lucky."
The king's face changed immediately, "luck you say?" He had a stiff reaction and a face that no could decipher, "do luck save you on battle grounds?"
General Draegor said nothing, his face fixed on the floor, "General...look at me," the king said, there was something in his voice thar sounded inhumane.
The General faced the king, the moment his eyes locked with the King's gaze, Draegor cried out loudly, he crashed down on his knees, hands on the neck.
The ground shivered in fear, I noticed the loons around, it felt like it wasn't the first time that this had happened.
"I ask again General...do luck save you on the battle grounds," the king said still maintaining a close gaze with Draegor, meanwhile Draegor eyes were blood shot, his nose had started dripping with blood.
Valen couldn't believe her eyes, the scene was terrifying and almost unrealistic, this was definitely a witch's power but how?
"No..." he struggled to talk, "s...sire...luck...can't save...anyone," Draegor mouth was filled with blood, Valen's body shook with fear but remained calm.
Suddenly he gasped, receiving air, his hands touched the ground while the King retreated back to his seat with a calm demeanor almost like nothing ever happened.
"Take him to the healers..." he just said, men quickly carried him to healers, blood trailed on the ground, the scene was intense for Valen.
What had she really gotten herself into?
"Valen..." the King called her and she made her way to him immediately.
"Let's go," he stood from his throne and made his out from the training grounds.
They walked through the hallways, when suddenly two council men stopped the king in his tracks.
"Your Majesty, we seek your presence," they bowed but the King didn't bat an eye at them, he continued walking with the maids and Valen trailing from behind.
"Your Majesty, it's best we go to a private place to talk else you want rumors to start circulating," one of them said and the king immediately stopped in his tracks.
The king turned with his hands clasped together, "is that supposed to be a threat?" He said calmly.
"I would never threaten my king but it's best we have this discussion to enable the growth of our people."
The king slowly walked to the man maintaining a clear gaze with him, it seemed he was not afraid of the king, his clear stance was quite different from the man who stood close to him.
"Lord Valor, you know how things work, you wait till meeting before I start hearing what good things you have for the people."
The king was about turning when Lord Valor stood in front of him, "your father always had our time..."
Valen was quick to notice the change of the King's demeanor, but what kind of surprised her was the big smile the King had on his face.
"So...Lord Valor, where do we have this conversation?" The king said, anger clear in his voice.
Lord Valor stretched his hand for the King and they all trailed behind him until they reached his library.
Valen's breath was taken away by the stunning appearance of the library, it was exactly like how the books had depicted, the structures were perfect and the cravings seemed ancient but held aura.
"No one comes in..." Lord Valor said calmly.
"Valen enter," the king called immediately, Valen noticed how Lord Valor's faced twisted for a second but no one said anything.
Valen followed but stayed at a corner not too far from where Lord Valor, the other council member and the King stood.
"Your Majesty, I think it's time for you to produce a heir and pick a mate," Lord Valor didn't waste a breath.
The King smirked and collected a book, "Your Majesty, Lord Valor has a point here, you are not getting younger and it's time you finally pick someone to produce a heir."
The King still said nothing, flipping the pages of the book and gently sat at the edge of the table.
Lord Valor and the other man stared at each other for a while, Lord Valor was clearly getting agitated but he dared not pass his boundary.
"So...this talk is what is going to benefit the people right?" The king flipped the book, not making any eye contact with them.
"Yes, your majesty, traditions states when you are at this age, you are meant to pick a mate that would produce a heir to take over the throne."
The King dropped the book and suddenly the room went silent, a pin could drop and would make a loud noise.
"Lord Valor, how old was I when I took over the throne?" The king maintained a strict gaze with him that could melt anyone who wasn't strong enough.
"A young age..."
"Oh right...my father was assassinated and a young boy called Kaelvryn took over the throne not knowing what to do and now that boy is getting older, they now want the boy to find a mate and a heir..."
"Your Majesty, it was a long time, your father would be proud of all of your achievements but tradition calls for this"
Lord Valor tried to argue but the King wasn't having it, "I have heard..." he simply said.
Lord Valor released a tired sigh, before he could try to say something, Valen noticed a sudden shift in the air, she couldn't decipher what it was but it was clear that something was definitely wrong somewhere.
An arrow was shot immediately, Valen was quick to catch it with her bare heads, she slightly got injured, "take the King out of here," she yelled on top of her lungs.
As she guided the King, she ordered the guards nearby, "check the east gate, make sure to close all boarders and make no one gets out."
Her hands were still dripping with blood but she ignored it and led the king to safety first and ran back to find any traces of anyone who looked suspicious.
She dashed to the back of the library and found a flower that looked very weird, the petals were crushed and scattered everywhere but she couldn't name what the flower was.
She tried to follow where the person would come from but her sense were suddenly blocked, her eyes became blurry and heavy headaches hitting her head.
She waved it and still tried to maintain herself but her movement were hazy, she stumbled a bit and held onto something, then it clicked to her, the arrow was surrounded with poison and it was definitely from the flower.
But before she could stand and warm anyone incase of anymore attacks.
Everywhere went black.
