Charlotte was avoiding me. I could tell that much from how she pretended to be asleep whenever I came into the room and tried to talk to her. And it bothered me more than I'd like to admit.
It wasn't that I loved Charlotte, I didn't. But I cared for her, she was the only one that had my back from the beginning.
Also, in an alternate world she would be my perfect girlfriend. The one I didn't need to try so hard to be with, that lovely girl next door.
And right now I couldn't stand that she was mad at me about something. My guess was Evie but I couldn't be sure.
"Charlotte," I called again from my bed. I could tell from the unsteady rise and fall of her chest that she was wide away. "I won't know what's bothering you if you don't tell me about it. I can't read minds, you know."
There was still no response from her.
I stood up from my bed and went to sit on hers. "Charlotte…"
I touched her arm and felt her freeze. "Please…talk to me."
