"The anesthesia hasn't worn off yet, but it's so tiring to lie on my stomach like this."
Ointment had been applied to the wound on Hannah Hale's back, but it was so painful she couldn't lie on it at all. After leaving the treatment room, she had been lying on her stomach the whole time, and her neck was starting to get sore.
"Change positions. Try lying on your side for a while."
Morgan Joyce looked at the girl's pale face, the worried frown on his brow never easing.
Hannah Hale's face was turned toward Morgan. She knew everyone was worried about her, so even though she was in a lot of pain, she did her best not to show it, not wanting them all to be on edge because of her.
"Okay."
Morgan Joyce bent down and carefully scooped Hannah Hale into his arms, his movements gentle, as if afraid of aggravating her injuries.
