After packing her luggage, Cecilia Adler rushed to her work unit to request time off.
On her way back with the approved leave slip, two burly men suddenly appeared on the roadside. They stood side-by-side, blocking her path.
Cecilia Adler didn't have time to abandon her bike and run. Sitting on her bike with both feet on the ground, she suppressed her unease and asked calmly, "Who are you two? Why are you blocking my way?"
"Miss Adler, don't be afraid. As long as you come with us quietly, we guarantee your safety."
Cecilia Adler nodded. "Fine." She got off her bike, and one of the men started to push it for her.
The other followed behind her.
Cecilia Adler glanced back, looking the man up and down.
The man was expressionless, accepting her scrutiny. She shoved her hand into her pocket, and he immediately grabbed her wrist.
Cecilia Adler yanked her hand free.
The man was startled.
