PRINCESS BUBBLEGUM
I sat alone on a desk fondling and wiring a new device, there was barely any ventilation or space, Infact my new main light source came from a small lamp at the side of my new desk.
My last few days have been spent slowly working on Yeager's requests, so far he's only asked for collars to help him control the various Finns.
I've intentionally been wasting time on it to hamper his plans and not only that, I've also set a control to help deactivate the collars in case anything goes south.
The dome is quiet, no one speaks unless they need to, making it erringly creepy like these guys are ghosts or something. Footsteps cut across the quiet corridor and the sound of metal clanking, it was Yaeger, that much I knew.
He had come various times over the past few days to give me food, water and to check up on the progress of his collars.
"Bubblegum?", his voice low and horse.
"How are the collars going? Surely you've finished at least one".
"Where's Marceline?!", I asked, cutting off his question.
He stepped into my room, looking down on me through his mask. I've been asking on her for days now and have been given vague answers.
This time, I won't let the opportunity slip. He let out a long sigh and said, "Take the collar and follow me, I'll let you see her".
I unconsciously let out a cheap grin while I picked up one of the collars and followed him, something kept referring me to his voice, it felt far too familiar.
We walked quietly down a flight of stairs I had never gone before, it was a new section I hadn't seen before, it was much brighter section of the dome. By the time we made it down, i locked eyes with her.
Marceline had healed from her gruesome wounds but looked skinnier like she had barely eaten, her eyes looked tired and she only had a tattered white gown on.
She was kept in this giant room which was at the end of the hall, a large glass window made the wall, it was like she was animal, just confined and quiet.
I ran to the window and pressed my arms against it, "Marceline?! Are you okay?!".
She looked back at me almost perplexed like she was trying to identify my face, tears welled up in my face but along with the sorrow, anger blazed.
I slammed my fists on the window and turned to see Yaeger, "Why is she like this?! Explain yourself!!".
He gave a slight shrug like he expected the reaction, "I didn't really want you to see her like this, she's been going through some testing that's all".
His casual tone made me see red, i clenched the collar tightly and he looked down at my hand and said, "If you finish your work properly and on time, maybe I can get her some blood".
I chugged the small metal at him but he caught it with relative ease then said, "Follow me, we're gonna watch your machine in action".
He took a few steps up the stairs while I looked back at my lover, "I'll get you out of Marceline, I swear".
I followed Yaeger through a couple doors, fearing I'd get lost if I wasn't close. As much as I'd been here for a few days, I'd struggled to map out the area and truly understand how big this place was.
We finally made it outside the dome, the first thing I noticed being the dark clouds shadowing the sun light, waiting for us was Armstrong-the stretchy one of Yaeger goons.
Beside him was Finn or rather, Fern. His green body looked just as bright as I remembered, he was held by some glowing blue device.
It wrapped around his abdomen and arms, he was supported by Armstrongs giant arms, then he seemed to be gagged by a piece of cloth. When we came out, he seemed to squirm even faster.
Yaeger held his collar with his left hand and reached out his right, crimson red flashes followed then they began to form. A long sword finally came about, he held it by the grip and whipped it back with a small gust of wind following.
He gave Armstrong a nod then looked at me, "You might want to take a step backwards".
Armstrong removed Ferns gag then finally extracted the device from his body setting him loose, he immediately took a dash back.
Fern roared as he was set free, his eyes locking onto Yaeger immediately. He rushed towards him now holding his infamous grass blade, he clashed with him but Yaeger easily parried it.
Their arms blurred as a succession of clashes took place in a second then a large sweep caught my eye, Fern jolted back as his two arms had been cut clean off.
Rage seemed to build in the plant version of my friend, he quickly regenerated his arms and his body started changing.
Grass began covering all over his body, first looking like a mesh then it began to structure itself, eventually he came about with what looked like a battle suit complete with two swords, a helmet with three eye holes and fine looking armour.
Yaeger didnt seem fazed by his transformation though as he widened his step and readied his blade, still using just one hand.
Fern rushed towards him now Yaeger but this time he rushed back and a lot of things happened in less than two seconds, Yaeger dodged the first slash from Fern then a catalogue of slashes from Yaeger followed then the next thing I saw, Fern was back to his usual self but now on the floor with all his limbs cut off.
Yaeger walked slowly to the helpless plant whose demeanour went from being angry to almost helpless, his blade crackled with lightning and vanished then he bent down and placed the collar on the plant.
Ferns body began to squirm almost like he was having a seizure, his mouth began to foam and he started to growl almost like he was fighting the control then he became still, his eyes closed like a dead man.
"How does it work Bubblegum?", Yaeger inquired not even bothering to look back at me.
"Your voice, it reacts to your voice".
"Stand!", he said, his voice like a roaring trumpet.
Ferns eyes opened wide but calm, he rose to his feet like a robot filling out his instructions. I know I engineered the collars but in all honesty, I hadn't expected them to work so fast and so easily.
"This is brilliant Bubblegum!", Yaeger said, a bright smile now plastered all over his face.
"I need many more of these".
It'll be fine as long as it also engages in my voice, I can stop any casualties that way.
"Bubblegum!", Yaeger called out snapping me from thought.
"Yes", I said awkwardly.
He was now walking towards me no longer smiling, "You and your love will leave here in one piece if you make sure to comply".
He stood only a few feet away from me and looked down at me with his hollow eyes, a shiver ran down my spine as a wave of bloodlust washed over me.
"But if you even think of double crossing me", he said now right infront of me. "You won't see another day, got it??".
Did he find out my plan?? Can he read minds?? There's no way he could, it's not possible, relax Bubblegum.
"Yea…yeah", I said my voice still horse. I steadied it and said, "I got it".
"Good", he said finally before walking away.
With the fear now gone i began gasping for air, not noticing i wasn't breathing. Whatever this guy is, he is dangerous but I'm not gonna give up.
