Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The Library That Watches Fate

Chapter 6: The Library That Watches Fate

The laughter faded.

The echo lingered in the air like a warning, and my skin crawled with an unpleasant chill.

Something was wrong.

Very wrong.

"Relax, relax," the old voice said casually. "No need to be so tense. Let us go inside the library."

Before I could react, the space twisted.

In the blink of an eye, we were standing inside.

Luna Moonslayer and her party appeared in front of me, while I stood a short distance behind them. The place we arrived at was… impossible.

Shelves.

Endless shelves.

They stretched beyond sight, rising higher than towers, filled with countless books glowing faintly with different colors.

The air itself felt ancient, heavy with knowledge and time.

"…Whoa," I whispered.

For a moment, I completely lost myself.

This place was marvelous.

No—beyond marvelous.

I might have stood there drooling if not for the old voice breaking the silence.

"Lady Luna," the librarian said, "shall we proceed?"

"Ah—yes," Luna replied, regaining her composure.

"Let's go."

The librarian's gaze shifted to me.

"Child," he said calmly, "you may stay here until I return."

Before I could respond—

They vanished.

Just like that.

Gone.

"…What?"

The space around me fell silent.

No footsteps.

No voices.

Only rows of books watching me.

"Why…" I muttered, swallowing hard, "why did he treat me so badly?

A bad feeling crawled up my spine.

A really bad feeling.

"Someone save meee!" I shouted instinctively.

No response.

Inside the Inner Chamber

Elsewhere, Luna, her party, and the librarian appeared inside a massive chamber.

Glowing runes covered the floor.

The librarian's voice echoed again.

"Luna Moonslayer," he said. "Once you obtain your book, the deal between me and the Moonslayer family ends."

Luna nodded. "Understood."

"But remember this clearly," the librarian continued.

"You must guide the fated child, Leon Sundawn, to this place."

"I will," Luna answered firmly.

"Good."

He snapped his fingers.

"Step into the magic circle."

Luna did as instructed.

Suddenly, books began flying from the shelves, circling wildly in the air like a storm. One by one, they were rejected

—until a

single book shot forward and stopped before her.

Its title glowed clearly.

Moonslayer Sword Art

The librarian laughed.

"Ha ha ha! How interesting."

"You know this book, don't you, Luna Moonslayer?" he said.

"It is the sword art created by your family's founder."

He leaned closer

"It chose you.

"Congratulations."

Luna hesitated, then asked, "What about that boy?"

The air changed.

Pressure descended like a mountain.

The librarian's voice turned cold.

"That boy is my guest."

"If anything happens to him because of the Moonslayer family…"

The space trembled.

"I will erase the entire Moonslayer family."

Silence.

"Now," he said sharply, "get lost."

He snapped his fingers.

Luna and her party were thrown outside the gate in an instant.

Nero Crimsonflare – POV

The librarian suddenly appeared in front of me.

I almost pissed myself.

"C-come with me, boy," he said.

I nodded quickly and followed him quietly.

We arrived in another room—smaller, but far more oppressive.

"So," the librarian said, turning to me. "What kind of book do you want?"

My heart raced.

This was it.

The chance.

"I want five books—" I started.

"You don't need to act like Leon," he interrupted.

"…Just think."

My limbs turned weak.

This old bastard could read my thoughts.

"Rude," he added calmly.

"S-sorry!" I bowed quickly. "Why are you giving me this chance?"

"Because you are interesting," he replied.

"You have no fate."

My breath caught.

"You can become anyone you want," he continued.

"You are not from this world—and yet, you are part of it."

I didn't respond.

I just thought.

Books flew toward me.

Rune language—support type.

Basic rune magic.

Advanced rune magic.

Master rune magic.

Four books.

I reached for a fifth—

But pleasure distracted me.

I forgot.

Then—

Two more books floated toward me on their own.

I caught them instinctively.

Their titles burned into my vision.

Sovereign War Art

Flame Art

The moment I touched them—

Heat surged through my body.

My chest burned.

My blood roared.

Flames flickered briefly around my hand.

"Interesting," the librarian murmured.

"Very interesting."
