Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Gifts of Power

Chapter 8: Gifts of Power

I still couldn't believe it.

After everything—the fall, the reincarnation, surviving as an extra—here I was, standing in the library, holding my gifts.

"You must be wondering what kind of books I got, right?" I muttered to myself, trying to calm the racing of my heart.

Of course I was bragging a little. Why not? This was my life now.

The first book I picked up was Supportive-Type Rune Language.

This world had only one known rune language, and it was strictly combat-oriented. Every soldier, mage, or adventurer

learned it for fighting.

But as the story went on, people discovered that other rune languages existed: healing, craftsmanship, manipulation, and more.

this book… well, it taught me the supportive type.

It wasn't flashy or offensive, but it was perfect for me. I could use it to speed up my learning, strengthen my mind and body, and even calm my thoughts during intense situations. It was subtle, but powerful.

Exactly what I needed to prepare for the academy.

Next were the three magic books.

By default, anyone could become a wizard here, but at first, everyone was weak—even the strongest wizards started as

weaklings.

These three books, however, could turn a weak beginner into something exceptional.

Basic Rune Magic

Advanced Rune Magic

Master Rune Magic

I ran my fingers over the pages, imagining what I could do with them.

By combining them with the supportive rune language,

I could train my mind, my mana control, and my magical techniques far faster than anyone else in this world.

"…Strongest of all time," I whispered, grinning to myself.

"Bu ha ha ha ha ahah."

Yep. That was me. Always laughing at my own ridiculous luck.

Finally… my two personal gift books.

Honestly, I wanted Leon Sundawn's swordsman-style book. I nearly grabbed it in the heat of the moment, but under

pressure, I forgot.

Instead, I received two books tailored to me:

Sovereign War Art

Flame Art

Sovereign War Art wasn't a traditional martial art. It was… unique.

For example

The first form: War Sovereign Gauntlet.

Golden-colored lines shot across the air and coalesced into two massive gauntlets around my hands. That was my weapon.

My fists became the instruments of war.

And the best part? I didn't need to learn every martial art. All my prior knowledge as a fighter from Earth combined naturally

—I instinctively knew the important parts of boxing, karate, taekwondo, and MMA. Everything fused together. I didn't need a master; the gauntlets amplified what I already had.

Finally,

Flame Art.

This wasn't just combat—it was a mana cultivation method, top-tier.

As I held the book, something inside me awakened: a natural flame affinity.

The heat surged through my body, flowing in

rhythm with my pulse.

The book even had fighting techniques, though I couldn't access them fully yet.

I ran my hands over the pages, feeling the warmth and raw potential. This book was generous—beyond anything I expected.

It didn't just make me stronger; it recognized me, my soul, and my future.

I knew some of you might be wondering… yes, I awakened flame affinity. But not everything was explained yet. This book would let me cultivate it further, slowly, over time. The possibilities were insane.

I leaned back, breathing heavily, my hands glowing faintly from residual mana.

"This… this is my chance," I whispered. "The first step to becoming someone who doesn't die as an extra. Someone who can survive, who can fight, who can shape their own fate."

The old librarian's voice echoed softly in my mind:

"You have no fate. You can become anyone you want, Nero Crimsonflare."

I smiled. That sounded perfect.

For the first time since I fell off that rooftop, I felt truly alive.

And I knew one thing: the world wasn't ready for me yet. But soon…

Soon, I would make sure it remembered the name Nero Crimsonflare.
