POV: Victor Slade
Victor Slade was reviewing security footage when Julian texted him: "I told her. Full investigation details."
He set down his coffee and read the message three times, understanding exactly what it meant.
The marriage was now officially compromised. The investigation was now common knowledge. The original plan, maintain silence, control information, protect Julian through selective revelation, was now impossible.
Victor called him.
"She leaving?" Victor asked without preamble.
"Not yet," Julian said. "I don't know if she will."
"She will," Victor said. "Give it a week. She'll realize she can't rebuild trust and she'll leave."
"Maybe," Julian said. "Maybe not."
