Chapter 2 - What Heroes Do

Hey, I really forgot to add this earlier but there will be spoilers for MHA including the later seasons and the movies.

XXX

I woke up in a dark warm space and I felt its walls pressing against me pushing me out. Soon I was out in the cold open air, and I tried to open my eyes only to find them fully blurred, despite the brightness. The panic alone would have been enough if I hadn't been warned that this would happen. But as a large shape lifted me and struck my bottom harshly I cried out.

Then something large cleaned off my skin and suddenly wrapped in a strange cloth, someone hands me off to another person but I'm so startled by the screams in the room I can't really stop. But eventually that stops and there are more cries and I was moving. Then a while after that I was pushed into someone else's arms and I started falling asleep.

That is how my first few months in this world started. Soon I realized that I also had a younger twin sister and that my mother was Inko Midoriya, and my father was some other guy. Frankly, nothing interesting happened for a while after I was born but soon enough I unlocked my system, and my AI still required time to charge until it could be unlocked.

Five Years Later

Musutafu, Japan

In a dusty park, the sun beat down on dirt and sand while the buzzing of cicadas filled the air. The sky was a clear bright blue and the clouds were puffy white like cotton balls. The day was perfect if not a little hot weather-wise, and the air was filled with the laughter of children.

As a wise man once said, "Heaven does not create one person above or below another." People like to throw these words around. That's not the whole quote. It goes on to say that "... while we are all equal at birth, pretty soon, things begin to change. Academic effort is what sets some people apart to rise above the others. At any rate, humans change over time based on their actions. Truth be told, at the end of the day, equality is just a fantasy. And most of us go through life denying the fact that we live in a meritocracy."

*Smack*

Some others like to refer to the words "All men are created equal," Not mentioning there is more than one version of the quote, and most don't end so kindly. Most in the end point out the fact that life. Was. Is. And always will be, unfair!

*Smack*

It could be argued that of all the people in this world, one child understood these words better than any other. In fact, that boy knew it so clearly he recognized that right now was an extremely unfair situation. That child stood across from three others and behind him one more and beside him the last.

The three across from him all possess the one thing in this world that proves inequality more than anything else. Looking at the two groups it was obvious on was at a great advantage. The left-most boy was chubby even for a child and yet as if he were as light as a feather he flew on red wings.

To the right, another boy with a purple hat grins. His fingers stretched like whips into the air. He only lifts one hand but he's sure it'll be enough.

*Boom*

But in the very middle of the group is a single girl whose hands exploded when she slammed them together. Smoke rose from them and her smile grew with each second. The girl laughed despite her tone full of anger as she faced off against the set of siblings.

'Yes! Indeed it is true! In this world, all men are not created equal!'

The girl growled out something and charged the green-haired boy opposite her. But just before her fist could land the child side-stepped and tripped her. Loosing her balance she landed face first on the park floor. The child who had been bullied by her classmates rolled out of the way of the girl.

The other two children charged only to find themselves pushed back by a strange telekinetic force. That force was produced by the now glowing hands of a young girl who stood beside her elder twin brother.

The young girl, Izumi Midoriya then pushed the two boys down with her quirk. Meanwhile, her brother moved quickly; he ran over kicking the other two boys in the face. By that time the explosive girl rose up from the ground and turned to face them. She ignored her initial target completely and instead focused her fury on the twins.

"Damn you! You Stupid Dekus!" She roared charging another explosion in her raised palm. She ran at the twins with a roar, her hands crackling with sparks of light. She weird back her face preparing to unleash another blast.

[Name: Katsumi, Bakugo]

[𝗔𝗴𝗲: 𝟱 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀]

[Gender: Female]

[Quirk: Explosion]

[𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗡𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗹𝘆𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹!]

Katsumi even angrier than before released an explosion directly at the green-haired girl. Izumi was too slow to react, nearly allowed the blow to land only to have it diverted by her twin. The explosion erupts in the air with a small cloud of smoke but the boy is already ignoring the flash of light in favor of striking Katsumi. Falling to the ground again the young tan-haired girl let out a cry. The green-haired boy stood over her with a thoroughly unimpressed look.

"Really is that all you have? So much for me not being able to be a hero without a quirk huh?" This boy knew for an undeniable fact that he had the girl before him were in fact, not equal, and that this situation was in fact, unfair. Unfair because how could any five-year-old child, quirk or no quirk, no matter how many there were, ever possibly hope to defeat him?

[Name: Izuku, Midoriya]

[Age: 5 Years]

[Gender: Male]

[Quirk: None]

[Description: Take a fucking guess!]

"You lost so beat it unless you want another beating," Izuku said stareing down at Katsumi and kissing his teeth. The young girl growled but she wasn't dumb. She knew a losing fight when she saw one and so made her choice. Quickly she scrambled up and pointed at him.

"This isn't even a real win! You're not supposed to hit girls you know!" She said positioning one hand on her hip indignantly.

"What so I'm supposed to go easy on you just because you're a girl? That's dumb girls can be just as strong as boys you know. Nah! It's equal rights and equal lefts if you ask me." He said yawning more out of boredom than anything else. Frankly, he had no further interest in the explosive girl, and his mind already began to ponder the next subject. Mainly, whether or not the girl he saved was actually who he thought it was. If so, she was the next twist this world was throwing at him and the first he was entirely unsure how to handle.

"This isn't over you stupid deku!" She shouted before looking over to her friends. Izumi was still holding the two on the ground with her telekinesis but now she was sweating with effort. Her eyes were closed in concentration she gave all her effort to keep them down as they struggled against her. She had promised her brother he could rely on her support and that's what she was going to do no matter what.

"You can let them go now, Izumi good job," Izuku said all traces of his earlier annoyance gone. Hearing her older brother's voice she nodded and released the two bullies. Katsumi gathered her friends and they began to leave but not before she got the last word.

"It doesn't matter! That weird girl is still a freak!" Katsumi yelled pointing at the small girl behind the twins whom they were defending. The girl, tiny, fair-skinned with pale dirty blonde hair held her head down in shame. Izumi sighed as the three bullies ran away and walked over to Izuku.

"Did I do alright Oni-chan?" She said with a questioning gaze. She was slightly tired from the effort of using her quirk for so long but her big brother told her the more she used her quirk the stronger it would be like a muscle.

"You did amazing Izumi keep up the good work, and you'll be an amazing hero one day." He said patting his sister's head. Then he turned to look at the girl still sitting on the ground head in her hands. After a moment Izuku realised she was crying and sighed. Walking over to her he patted her head as well and spoke.

"Hey, it's alright they're gone now forget about what they said alright." The girl sniffled and looked up at him. For a split second, Izuku was filled with surprise but then he had somewhat expected this but he had intervened in the bullying just to make sure. Plus what kind of example would he be to Izumi if he did nothing when he saw a girl getting bullied?

Still, Izuku used his system just to make sure of his assumption. Activating one of the first basic skills he had unlocked from the system he analyzed the girl. Soon enough a pale holographic system window appeared in it and he confirmed her identity. He had been almost fully sure when he saw her eyes.

They were inward-tilting yellow eyes with thin slit-like irises, somewhat resembling those of a cat, with bags under them. Frankly, Izuku was mostly surprised as to how a girl so young was even capable of having such tired-looking eyes but what he felt the most of was sorrow. Sorrow for the fate of a young girl he knew deserved better than what she got.

'This world isn't fair indeed.'

[Name:Toga,Himiko]

[𝗔𝗴𝗲: 𝟱 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀]

[𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: 𝗙𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗲]

[𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗸: 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺]

[𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗸 𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗.𝗡.𝗔. 𝗼𝗳.]

Toga tried wiping her eyes with her hands still sniffling lightly. Izumi held out a hand for her to take and with his other hand deftly reached into the back pocket of his shorts for a few napkins. She took his hand as he carefully helped her up and looked at him strangely.

"Y-your n-not scared o-of me?" She stammered voice still shaking with sorrow.

A few tears still filled her eyes but just a little enough for the young girl to still see. Izuku smiled and used the napkins to wipe her tears. Some might question why exactly Izuku has napkins but stay around kids long enough and you'll learn exactly why.

"Scared? Now why would anyone be scared of a cute girl like you?" He said finishing cleaning her face and handing her another one for her to wipe and blow her nose. Toga was stunned she had never once in her young life received a compliment like that in her entire memory.

[𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙪𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙃𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙂𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙙 𝙏𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙊𝙛: 𝙃𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙠𝙤 𝙏𝙤𝙜𝙖!!]

[𝘽𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡:10%]

'Well, that was easy.' What surprised him most was actually that the number was so low. Even Katsumi has a higher bond level although her starting value was lower. Despite this Izuku was pleased it was another step closer to the future he hoped to create for this world.

"Hey so umm what's your name? My names Izuku and this is my sister Izumi." He said gesturing to the girl behind him. Izumi wasn't quite as shy as the original Izuku was and the new version indeed had a quirk. She had only manifested her quirk a few months ago as a bit of a late bloomer. Her brother was worried that she might never awaken it but his system's analysis skill confirmed that she had one.

They had been going about their normal day-to-day when one of Inko's kitchen pans nearly fell and hit the girl. Until she held out her hands and managed to stop it mid-air. Izuku haddent been in the room at the time but he was ecstatic with joy for her and any worries he had fell away.

Izuku put aside memories of the past for now and instead focused on the little girl in front of him. More specifically on how to help prevent her disastrous future. Not only did he somehow have to stop her from becoming a mass murderer/cereal killer but he also needed to prevent her from dying as well. So much work to do in what felt like so little time at all.

"H-himiko… Himiko Toga." She said in a quiet voice once again. But as the quiet girl looked down again Izuku noticed something. Besides the obvious small scraps and slight scratches beneath the small yellow sweater she wore was a dark purple bruise. A quiet angry feeling filled Izuku, and he knew he had to do something even if it was a bit of a risk.

"Hello, Himiko-chan are you alright?" Izumi asked walking closer. She hadn't noticed the bruises like her brother did but she was still concerned about the other markings. She just like her canon counterpart still had a kind and compassionate heart.

"Hey, Himiko-chan how about you come with us for a bit so we can get you all patched up for a bit okay?" Izuku smiled trying not to darken the mood. If she was really going through what she was in the anime, then it wasn't something he wanted Izumi to notice just yet. Unlike him, she was actually still a child mentally and he didn't want her getting traumatised or something.

"Oh umm… ok but uh… I'm n-not sure my parents would-"But before she could finish her sentence Izuku cut her off. He'd be damned if he sent her back to them without making sure he did everything he could first.

"Don't worry about that right now we'll explain later! Right now let's get you cleaned up ok? Isn't that right Izumi?" He looked to his sister for support who nodded back enthusiastically. In this timeline not only was her bond level with Izuku high but she also had a similar attachment to him as the canon Izuku did to Bakugo as children. Naturally, he took the chance to display himself as the best role model that he could be for her. He had no real experience being an older sibling as in his last life he was actually the youngest child. So instead he resolved himself to be the best big brother he could be. He would do for her what his older siblings did for him and set the best example he possibly could for her.

"Oh o-okay. But why did you help me?" She questioned, she had absolutely no idea why a stranger would do that for her. The boy and his sister could have gotten hurt or worse but risked themselves to help her. He had even called her cute! No one in her entire life had ever called her that before. Not even her own family. Not her parents. Not her siblings. Not anybody! Not ever! But this boy something special about this boy. But would he stay the same kind boy he was if he knew her quirk? Would he still be kind to her? Still reach out his hand, and pat her on the head, and not hit her like everyone else?

She didn't know the answer, and in young Himiko's mind not knowing that answer was more terrifying than anything else in that moment. But then he said something that broke through the haze of her thoughts.

"Why? Well, that's obvious! Because that's what heroes do!" He said and it was such a simple sentence but little did Izuku know that those few words began a shift inside of Toga's mind.

"Heroes? Like All Might?" She asked. She had seen heroes briefly on things like her parents tv but in truth, she had never really known much about them. Instead, she was usually just watching cartoons or playing. Before this point she never really had much interest in heroes, but now? This boy. This Izuku. Wanted to be a hero. And she had more than anything she had ever wanted in life before. Wanted to be just like him.

"Yep, and I'm going to be the number one hero someday just wait!" Izuku exclaimed and Izumi cheered for her brother in the background. Even though he had no quirk he had never once wavered in his conviction to become a hero. More than that. She believed that if anyone could become a hero without a quirk it was her big brother.

"Yeah, and I'm going to be number 2 and support you Oni-chan!" She said with enthusiasm only for Toga to look at her strangely. In the little blonde girl's mind, she didn't seem bad either. She wouldn't mind becoming a hero who would support Izuku. Maybe she could be like Izumi as well.

"Now, now, what did I tell you, Izumi. Never settle for second best! If you're going to be a hero you have to give it your all. No second guesses or holding back and if that means you beat me to becoming number one then that means you just deserve it more!" He replied looking at his sister. If he was going to be number one he knew he had to earn it no compromises and no excuses. That was the only way he could or would ever feel worthy of the title of the number 1 hero.

A glimmer filled her eyes and an expression of awe washed over her face. The boy before her was unlike anyone she had ever met before. She realised that not only did Izuku fully believe those words but actually planned to do it too. From that moment forward young Himiko saw Izuku as her only guiding star in this world a star she wanted to follow no matter what.

[𝙔𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝘽𝙤𝙣𝙙 𝙇𝙚𝙫𝙚𝙡 𝙃𝙖𝙨 𝙄𝙣𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙏𝙤: 45%]

'Well, that's not concerning at all.' Izuku thought to himself. He shook his head ignoring the massive jump in Toga's bond level as he guided the two away from the park and back to a waiting Inko Midoriya.

The camera turns on revealing a man in a black hoodie. He turns around landing his folded hands on a desk.

"So what did you all think? Will Himiko play an important role in the future? Will Izuku be able to change her fate? Or will she just be another random one-off side character?" The man now revealed to be the author himself writing this story in what is definitely not his mother's office because his bedroom was too messy.

"Me personally I have no idea what will happen? Perhaps Izuku will simply crash and burn and I'll have to pick a new main character for the fic. Izumi is still around after all. But most importantly there will be another short timeskip in the next chapter because I don't feel like writing about the twins child hood too much but that doesn't mean I'll skip over it entirely." He says while picking up a nearby cup and sipping it.

"Ah, that's the stuff right there." He says to himself closing his eyes for a second to enjoy the flavor more. Then he sets the cup down and looks back at the camera.

"Ah yes, where was I? Right the story! So drop some power stones if you liked it or whatever. If I can I'll try to upload alternating with my other fic as well and other stuff but just as that other fic this too doesn't have an upload schedule. I'll try to never go more than a week without an update though. Anyways I'm tired so goodnight everyone or good morning or whatever time it is when you're reading this. That's all folks!" He says waving at the camera reaching to turn it off cup still in hand. But as he reaches it the drink spills into his lap once again.

"God damn it not again! Cut!"

Take 2

The camera pans to see the author sitting on top of his freshly made bed wearing new pants.

"Hello, everyone two last things about the whole Chan, San, sama thing. I'll be using that sparingly only to really clarify which honorific the person is using at the time. Also, the system panels won't be read by the audio function so you'll have to read those yourself most of the time. Anyways drop some power stones and bye" 👋
