Chapter 4 - A New Student

Izuku's jaw hung open with shock. The man before him was Issac Netero. The former chairman of the hunters' association. A man from another world with power very few could match.

"Y-you! Your chairman Netero!" He said pointing at the old man.

"Oh you recognize me do you? How interesting, yes I am the ex-chairman of the HPSC." He smiled, caressing his beard. He stood before Izuku, assessing him. He hadn't been drawn to the boy by quincidence after all.

But he wasn't the only one analyzing the situation. He knew the man before him was the chairman of the hunter association in HXH. Only that organization doesn't exist in this world to his knowledge so now the true question was. He claimed to be the former chairman of the HPSC so what could that have changed? At first, Izuku was mainly worried about the ripples his presence in this world would cause. But now he truly realized that he wasn't the only one who could change things.

"What are you doing here?" He asked, still stunned that he was even speaking to the man in front of him. Despite this, Izuku perked up and changed his posture, pouring all his effort into the conversation.

"Hohoho you are quite the energetic lad aren't you?" Netero said placing his arms in his white robes.

"I uh guess so?" Izuku scratched the back of his head. He wasn't sure what the old man wanted from him but he wanted to impress him if he could get Netero to take an interest in him like Gon and Killua.

"So why is a young man like you training in a park at this hour on the weekend no less?" The former chairman questioned.

"Well, I'm training to become a hero one day sir."

"Oh is that so? Surely you have training for quite some time then if you're starting so early?" He questioned begging to circle the emerald-haired boy.

"Oh well sort of," Izuku said following the old hunter with his eyes.

"Tell me boy who taught you to fight?" Issac questioned examining the muscles of the kid. All in all, it wasn't too bad, he needed a lot of work to reach his full potential.

"Uhm nobody sit I'm uhh self taught," He said scratching the back of his head nervously. The former chairman stopped circling and raised a brow at that. If Izuku truly had made such a physique without any guidance from a trainer then Netero could only imagine what progress he could make with one. The child must have had some sort of quirk that allowed him to make it this far. That was the conclusion that the old man came to but in truth what had allowed Izuku to develop his body to this point was his progress skill.

Although it was only level three the passive ability allowed him to make constant progress and never hit a roadblock along the way. Izuku in his previous life although out of shape was no stranger to exercise. That combined with the discipline of an adult and a level of willpower that no ordinary child could match already granted him a fit body. He had been exercising his whole life but in the last three years, he had been picking up the pace a lot for next year.

"Self-taught hmm how interesting. Tell me why don't you go to a gym or club to learn? Plenty would love a student with a strong quirk like you." Netero hummed in slight confusion he could see the boy had a body one couldn't have without training for a significant period of time.

"Well see I really can't afford it and uhh well I'm uhh quirkless sir." The words tumbled out of Izuku's mouth before he could think and they completely shocked the old hunter. Then he felt a great sense of disappointment and unfairness. This boy who with just a bit of simple instruction gained the strength to fell a small tree had no quirk. It was unfortunate to say the least, to find such talent in a quirkless boy. To make it even worse Neteri doubted that the boy even realized just how talented he truly was.

"I see quirkless are you… Yet you still wish to become a hero?" He looked into the boy's eyes how a quirkless child could hope to be a hero? It was obvious that a normal human could never take on a villain with a powerful quirk. But the boy doesn't appear stupid, perhaps he simply hadn't yet been exposed to the sheer difference in power level.

"Yes sir with all my heart!" The young boy's eyes seemed to shine in that moment. As if filled with a level of willpower not even the old hunter had seen more than a handful of times in his life. The boy in his mind seemed to possess a true warrior's spirit rather than the lofty and delusional dreams of a child. In this he was correct, Izuku was in fact no delulu child but a reincarnated soul like none before seen in this world.

"Such determination haha it's good to see you have such spirit young man. Even so without a quirk no matter how much you train I doubt it's possible." He didn't need to even search hard for it. It was written all over the boy's face, his heart was set on this path and something as simple as words wouldn't change his mind. There was a fire in his eyes Netero understood all too well, but if the boy was so determined the least he could do was a bit of proper training.

"Oh, I… I understand why you might think that." Izuku said softly but despite this, his determination did not waver in the slightest.

"I see… well it's a shame that I don't have time to train you myself." The old man grumbled caressing his beard again before closing his eyes.

"Huh, you would do that?!"

"But of course! A boy with potential like you should never waste it. Still, I might be able to send you over to an old friend of mine."

"Hmm… no your not ready for that yet perhaps a different teacher."

"If I may ask who were you thinking of?"

"Oh, no one special. Here take this." He pulled a flyer out from the sleeves of his robes. Holding the yellow flyer out, Izuku slowly took it from his hand with care. He noticed the calluses and slight scars on the old man's hands.

"A dojo? Oh umm, sir I'm sorry but I can't really afford~" Netero cut him off and continued insisting.

"Don't worry about the costs I'll call ahead of time. Just head over there sometime tomorrow. I'll be on my way now boy good luck to you." The old man turned around and waved over his shoulder at the emerald-haired boy.

"Oh thank you so much, sir!" Izuku was surprised at the man's sudden departure but quickly called after him.

"Oh, one last thing what's your name kid?" The old man stopped remembering he'd forgotten to ask. Looking over his shoulder he looked back into the boy's determined eyes one more time.

"Izuku Midoriya sir!" He called out after the old man whose grin just widened. He turned back around and continued to walk away before saying one last thing.

"Well, Midoriya how about a game of ball snatching the next time we meet?" He said almost shouting as the distance between them increased with each moment.

"A game of what?!" Izuku questioned, causing the old hunter to laugh with mirth at the boy's reaction. He walked away and a new profound silence filled the midday air around Izuku. No birds chirped and only a slight breeze could be felt in the air. Izuku balled his hand into a fist watching the old man go. Realizing he was accidentally crumpling the flyer he pulled it back out and read the paper one last time. Now that his surprise had added Izuku had a pretty good idea just what this dojo might be but he decided to think about that later. Running past the park fountain and a few public cleaning robots and delivery bots Izuku made his way home to do some of his own research.

[Midorya Household, Musudafu, Japan]

Arriving home from his morning training Izuku climbed the steps of his apartment complex. Stopping on the third floor and walking home his mind was elsewhere. He wondered about what the events of this morning could mean for his future.

He planned on getting one for all, and that plan hadn't changed. He made plenty of preparations from memorizing the exact path and place he would have to take to meet All Might to even practicing what he was going to say to the number one hero when they met. But now he wasn't sure things would go to plan. If a man like Netero existed, any number of unforeseen factors could interfere with his plan.

Izuku sighed deciding to worry about it later. Izukufumbled his keys for a moment before opening his family's apartment door. He decided that after a quick snack and a shower, he would need to do a little extra research on the dojo flyer in his pocket.

"Hey mom I'm back!" Izuku called out cracking open the apartment door and stepping through. The sound of sizzling and the smell of fresh cooking filled the air. Leaving his black and grey running shoes at the door he puts on some house slippers and walks towards the kitchen. He enters to see Inko Midorya his mom cooking salmon on their electric stove without him. Which is strange because ever since he was a little kid they almost always cooked together or with Izumi.

"Oh, Izuku your lunch will be ready soon," Inko says happily and Izuku can tell she's a little bit more relaxed than usual. Normally shed be working around this hour but Inko had this weekend off and so she was at home today.

"You started cooking early without me?" Izuku questioned looking past her shoulder and onto the electric stove.

"Well it's been a while and I wanted to do this for you." She explained changing the temperature slightly before stepping away from it.

"Are the girls back in yet?" He questioned her casually taking a seat at the nearby table. Toga and Izumi had become near-inseparable best friends during the 8 years since they'd met the young girl and taken her in. The two had grown thick as thieves, and hardly went anywhere without each other. Izuku had been a bit too busy playing the more important role of father, and big brother figures in their lives to fully be a part of that bond. Even so, both of their bond levels had shot up over the years albiet not to a ridiculous level. The only thing was a recent development in Himiko's bond level which had spiked again.

"Yep, they're in their room, got back from the mall about an hour ago." She said smiling at whatever mischief the two girls had gotten up to. Himiko had turned into a bit of a prankster over the years while Izumi had been constantly dragged along into her best friend's whirlwind.

"Thats good. So what are you making?" He said, thoughts swirling on what kind of things he would start searching for online later.

"Onigiri, salmon, and vegetables." She smiled glancing over to him.

"So how did your run go?" She asked.

"You'll never guess who I met on the way back."

"Oh, really what happened?"

"So I was in the park practicing right, and then I heard this voice from behind correcting my form. So I change my form and it makes me better so say thank you I turn around."

"And? Who was it?"

"Issac Netero he's the former chairman of the HPSC." He reviled, she let out a slight gasp of shock. A man who was once the head of the Hero Public Safety Commission had not only met her son but had even recommended him to train somewhere. Her thoughts flashed with the day she had taken him to the quirk doctor and even with his results he had still asked her if she thought he could be a hero.

"Oh wow, you met him what was he like?" She questioned, who was this stranger who believed in her son's potential? What reason could he possibly have for such a thing?

"He was… strange I guess but nice. He asked me why I was training and I told him. He said I had potential and that he didn't have time to train me himself so he recommended me to a friend." He explained quickly diverting his eyes to the table. He was a little nervous to tell her about it. In truth, he wanted to take the opportunity more than anything else right now.

"Recommended?" She said puzzled as he handed her the flyer.

"Yeah, he uhh gave me this." He said, Inko noticed the hesitation in his voice Izuku nearly ever hesitated about anything at all. Not even when she said the words she had regretted most in her life. Words which she could only hope he didn't remember because he was so young when she said them.

"This is… Izuku we can't afford~" Before she could say the obvious Izuku cut her off.

"I know but he said he would call the owner ahead of time. It would be rude to at least not go." He said and Inko nodded in agreement it would be rude to blow off an opportunity from such an important man.

"Hmm ok."

"Oni-Chan! You're back!" A voice called from down a hallway. A bright-eyed, green-haired girl popped into the room. Beside her, the most cheerful ash-blonde girl in the entire prefecture at least made her appearance.

"Izuku-chan!" She said almost cheering his name, her fang-filled smile spreading across her face. The girl almost ran at him and jumped for a hug. He stood up quickly to catch her and swing her around. His sister stepped closer smiling but with far less vampire-like teeth.

"Hey, how was the mall?" He said as Toga pulled out of his arms the cheerful girl smiled up at him.

"It was great Izuku-chan you should have come with us!" She said wildly gesturing with her hands.

'Why? So you can make me carry all your bags again?'

"Yeah, we~"

[Elsewhere Musudafu, Japan]

Izuku claimed dozens of stone steps up the side of a small mountain. He hadn't realized at first that when his mom dropped him off, he would have to climb up the entire mountain Kung Fu Panda style.

Nevertheless, he claimed he did and now he's reached the dojo's doorstep. From the outside, it looked like some sort of ancient temple or shrine. That wasn't very unusual for Japan, if Izuku remembered correctly then the land of the rising sun should have hundreds if not thousands of shrines and temples. Even so, this one looked fairly large on the outside. What really bothered him though was a nearby path off to his side where a car was parked.

Izuku sighed clearly there was another way up here he would have to find. Pulling out the yellow flyer from his jacket pocket he unfolded it. Reading the words Izuku looked up and scanned the temple for a minute. Seeing a sign matching the name of the dojo on the flyer he became certain he was in the right place.

"So this is it." He looked around the area studying the environment he might be training in for the foreseeable future. The mountain was covered in huge trees akin to redwoods. Large berry bushes and somewhere in the background over the tweeting of birds and the swaying of leaves he swore he could hear a rushing body of water like a stream.

It was actually rather peaceful and Izuku took a deep breath, enjoying the natural ambience. He walks forward underneath another Tori gate which is odd because this is definitely a dojo and not a shrine even though it definitely looks like one. You could maybe even call it a monastery.

Izuku did a quick search on the place online as he would be a fool to visit a strange place without doing at least a little research. The dojo itself wasn't the most famous but it certainly wasn't run down either. More than that it was run by a legendary retired hero. The old man was once third in the S rank of heroes but that wasn't all. Not only was his reputation fearsome but so was his rumored power.

In this world hero rankings were divided into different categories by letter not just numbers. More than that there were only one hundred S ranks allowed per country and Japan had a solid number of them. But what's more, those rankings were based more on popularity than power so it wasn't unusual to see a stronger hero ranked much lower than a weaker one simply for being unpopular. Of course, public reputation wasn't the only factor as others would allow a less popular hero to be high ranking. For example, this was the case for the number 2 hero Endevor.

Izuku knew that in the future if he wanted to be a hero he was going to have to at least have some media training, but to be honest, he had absolutely no idea where to start. Shaking his head Izuku passed by a small red squirrel Izuku reached the front door. It wasn't some grand gate but rather two simple shoji doors he knocks on.

*Knock knock*

"Umm hello?" Izuku called out after knocking on the wooden frame. Izuku hears a surprised voice, and after just a moment the door quickly slides open to reveal arguably the most forgettable face Izuku has ever seen. The man looks slightly puzzled as he steps through the open paper doors and greets the teenager in front of him.

"Hmm, who are you, kid? If you're here for the next youth class then you're a bit early." Says the man, he wears a basic white martial arts uniform and has a proud mane of bright orange hair.

"Oh no well umm kind of. Is there an owner here or someone I could speak to?" Izuku said activating his analysis skill on the man. It was something he did on an almost instinctual level at this point and he was relatively unimpressed by the results.

"Sure come in. Just leave your shoes at the door." The young man now identified as Charanko nodded and stepped aside. He picked up a nearby bucket and mop before walking over to a nearby set of stairs.

"Hey, sensei Bang! We have someone down here who wants to speak with you!" The ginger man yells and shortly after a voice from up the stairs responds promptly. Slowly a hunched figure comes down the creaking steps. Soon the man enters Izuku's line of sight and the emerald-haired boy's brain begins to do what it does best. It analyzes him.

The man is clearly well past his prime, his posture is hunched and his hair is entirely white most likely from age. That same hair is spiky and almost entirely pointed upwards without even a single bang hanging over his face. To his credit, the old man is extremely well-groomed sporting a rather large silvery white mustache that matches the sharpness of his brows. Frankly, it's the single greatest piece of facial hair Izuku has ever seen in both his lives, and he can't help but consider if he should maybe try and grow one in the future.

"Let's see. Who might you be boy?" The old man or rather martial artist wears a black long-sleeve shirt and white harem pants. On his feet are black Men's Chinese Traditional Canvas Kung Fu Tai Chi with white soles.

"I'm Izuku Midoriya someone should have called ahead about me?" Izuku said voice uncertain with a slight hint of worry. He believed that Netero would keep his word but he had no guarantee. The old man could have gotten busy or even simply forgotten about it.

"Ah yes, so you're the one he mentioned huh. Hmm your what 13?" Bang walked towards him stopping a few feet away and caressing his chin in examination.

" I am." Izuku nodded quickly hoping there wasn't a problem with that. If he could learn the old heroes' techniques it could make all the difference in certain fights.

"So you can't pay huh?" Bang narrowed his brow. He ran a business after all and the boy was quirkless. If he truly had the potential his old friend suggested then a simple test should reveal it. If not then a few weeks of training should make it relatively easy to tell.

"Uh no I'm sorry if he said otherwise." Izuku shook his head. Worry crept in but he wasn't fully sure what Netero had said but if there was anything he could do to learn from him he would do it. He needed training and he needed power and at this point, he wasn't sure if one for all was guaranteed. He needed a backup plan and this was the start of that.

"Relax kid you wear your emotions too openly it's easy to tell you're nervous. It's fine you can just help clean up the dojo or something afterwards. Now then, let's see what you can do then." The old man responds caressing his excellent mustache.

"Ok, what do you want me to do?"

"Simple throw a few strikes at one of those dummies over there after that run as fast as you can across the dojo and back." Keeping his eyes on Izuku bang gestured to a few training dummies across the room.

"Okay." Izuku nodded and walked over to the nearest dummy. Removing his black hoodie, he quickly folded it and set it on the ground. Izuku took a deep breath before taking his stance. It was a basic boxing stance with hints of the slight alterations that Netero suggested. He focused hard on his target trying to calm his nerves and focus on the task set before him.

He closed his eyes, took one more deep breath, and struck with all his might. He threw three quick blows in near-perfect form as a warm-up. All three were left-hand jabs quick and precise with quick steps forward and back in time with them. Then he started with a few hooks two right, and one left in alternating order. Then he threw two straight punches before turning swiftly and running as fast as he could to the other side of the dojo. But even to Izuku's own surprise he suddenly unlocked another skill.

[Active Skill: Sprint]

[Level: 1]

[Description: Doubles the user's sprinting speed for one minute. Cool down time five minutes. Warning don't trip like an idiot or I will laugh at you!]

Activating it almost instinctively Izuku crossed the dojo and back to the dummies in seconds. Instead of stopping though Izuku decided to try something to impress Bang just in case he wasn't already. He threw one more straight punch at a dummy and sent it flying several feet back into a wall with a loud thump. The dummy didn't break, and the wall didn't crack, but it was still far more than the average person, much less a quirkless person should be capable of.

Bang's eyes narrowed at that and he hummed in contemplation. If the boy was truly quirkless and truly did have such talent then perhaps training him wouldn't go so badly. Even so, Izuku wouldn't be his first quirkless student nor was he the only one with talent as well. Still, not all of them had ended up going down the right path and he wasn't sure if he was ready to go down that path once again.

Memories flashed through his head of the first quirkless student he ever had a man who took advantage of his gifts for his own profit and killed several people just for money. He shook away the thoughts of his former student. Besides he had taken other quirkless students who turned out ok enough. He doubted he would end up like that traitor.

"Hmm, not bad form did Isaac train you some already?" His old friend claimed that he only gave the boy a little advice but even so it Łwas hard to believe a few words could create this. Not to mention the boy had even evolved mid-sprint to run twice as fast.

"Ah, not really he just told me to change my stance a little." Izuku shook his head as he slowly walked over to pick his hoodie up off the floor and put it back on.

"I see… well, we can discuss details up in my office, come." Bang turns and walks back to the stairs he came down from.

"O-ok!" He nodded, walking after the old martial artist.

'I can't believe it was that simple.'

"Hey, kid!" The ginger called out to the green-haired boy. Izuku turned to look at the ginger martial artist.

"Hmm?" Izuku hummed in response unsure what the young man could have wanted from him.

"Welcome to Silver Fang Dojo my name's Charanko!" The ginger man waved and smiled at Izuku, the teen smiled and waved back.

Hey sorry about the delay guys I've got sick but that's not the main reason. Frankly, I wrote this chapter weirdly different way from how I usually do. I went and wrote all the dialogue first then went back and filled in the actions from the beginning. Frankly, I get the feeling I missed a few spots because I didn't do that in order ether plus I wrote the Midoriya household scene third instead of second so I feel like it's a little incomplete but hopefully it's not too bad. Anyway leave a comment or a review on what you all thought about it and remember to drop some gemstones on the chapter.
