Chapter 3 - Not the world you know

Izuku Midoriya knew that the world around him was not the one he learned from the show. The first and most obvious difference was the presence of his little sister Izumi.

She was a kind and sweet child whose faith in him was unmatched. When the time came for Izuku to go to the quirk doctor he was nervous. Not because of his quirk he already expected not have one but rather because of the doctor himself. Indeed it was the man he suspected would be there Doctor Garaki the man closest to being the right hand of all for one.

Still, everything went off without a hitch and Izuku still got his quirkless verdict. Inki was worried the entire car ride home her son said nothing and even her cheerful daughter was much quieter than usual. When they finally got home and he asked her if she thought he could still be a hero. She had broken down in tears, hugging him tightly. She apologized to him but instead of the tears she expting he comforted her. He told her that it was okay and instead of giving up on his dream Izuku spoke the words that became his mado from that day on.

"If no one without a quirk has become a hero before than I'll just have to be the first!" Those words made that day the greatest regret of Inko's life but also the beginning of Izuku's path to greatness. From that day forward young Izuku fell into his training and research with a startling fanaticism.

He didn't know that in his research he would find a myriad of differences in the world around him. The next big tell aside from Katsumi Bakugo being a girl instead of a boy, was the ranking of heroes themselves. The majority of the ranks of heroes were completely different from what he knew. At first, it made sense as some of the heroes he remembered hadn't started their careers yet but others were from completely different franchises from MHA.

They were all still heroes but they were blatantly ones that didn't belong. He searched for more and more heroes from other series which brought up the greater concern of villains that may come from other series as well. He never found any traces but the thought always lingered in the back of his mind.

The next thing was the media. Several franchises particularly anime were completely missing and a large portion of recent history was completely lost as if deliberately erased by someone. This gave him the idea of replacing some missing media in order to gain funds for his future endeavors. Not everything was gone as several games and shows he did watch still existed. Apps like YouTube, TikTok, and Twitch still exist. Classic games like Pokémon and even newer games from the point he died exist as well. Frankly, it was weirdly contradictory but he couldn't put an exact rhyme or reason to it.

He wasn't entirely sure it would work though. Even in the canon world, the series took place in the far future. In fact, it was even stated that without the emergence of quirks humanity would already be exploring the stars. Even though humanity isn't that far in its level of advancement it wasn't that far off either. So Izuku decided to study scientific advancements made in this world as well as something he greatly enjoyed as science was always his favorite subject in school. Plus there was so much more to be learned in both mechanical, biological, and metaphysical sciences now that quirks have changed the entire playing field.

But more important than any of that were the physical preparations he made. As a small child, he focused mainly on things like cardio and other exercises. But as soon as he turned ten he began to train much more seriously day in and day out. He had briefly trained in several martial arts in his last life but never long enough to become truly proficient in any. However, he knew he couldn't afford to train at a regular dojo. Why? Because of his family's situation. One day young Izuku came across a young Toga being bullied and helped her. Although he gained her affection his work didn't finish there as he eventually revealed the abuse she had been undergoing and her family was turned over to the proper authorities.

But instead of allowing the young girl to be lost to the system he brought her into his family. Living with little Himiko was fun and all but the problem was the extra financial strain brought on by another mouth to feed. Not to mention the purchasing of clothes and other resources for her schooling. Although Izumi had gained a friend she considered a sister and Izuku had changed her fate for now it wasn't good for them monetarily.

Then to top that off things took a turn for the worse when Izuku's father died. It was an accident over seas that had also killed Masaru Bakugo. Izumi and Inko didn't take it well obviously and it only made things worse financially. Plus it had also turned the already misbehaving Katsumi into a downright delinquent. However, they still managed thanks to a government stipend and a few other factors they were by no means wealthy.

Inko without a husband and struggling to raise three kids as a single mom had fallen into a depression. Izuku seeing this reasoned it was probably the reason she had gotten so out of shape in canon. So he decided to do something about it. Although he was still too young to get a job he could at least help improve her life at home. So he set himself to the task as the man of the house. Sometimes when Inko would come home late and tired he would already have dinner ready and any other chores complete. He also started making breakfast for everyone and even getting the girls ready for school himself.

At first, Inko had been against his efforts believing it shouldn't be the burden of a child so young. Izuku on the other hand insisted and persevered with the same stubborn will that he always did. On top of that he delved further into fitness even dragging the girls along and later even Inko.

Even though he had no proper training with the help of the system along with YouTube videos learning basic moves like judo throws and different kicks. Izuku managed to not only help Inko stay in shape but also gain skills that aided his progress. But not only did he help her retain her figure but he also helped improve it. On top of that, her husband would help relieve her accumulated stress with massages and in other smaller ways. Something he had become particularly good at thanks to a system skill he gained by doing it.

From what Izuku could tell the system granted him skills based on his actions. He unfortunately hadn't been able to get any of his skill levels high but he had unlocked several. His best three were all passive skills that he managed to get to the third level.

[Passive Skill: Stamina Regeneration]

[Level: Three]

[This skill regenerates stamina faster but I'm sure you could figure that out! Yes it does apply to all aspects of the human body!]

[Passive Skill: Charisma]

[Level: Three]

[This skill gives the user a passive charismatic aura. Though it cannot give the user confidence it can prevent the user's will from being shaken by damn near anything.]

[Passive Skill: Progress]

[Level: Three]

[The training you've undertaken will always show returns. That means no bottleneck or plateau will ever plague you for long. You may even receive an epiphany that will massively boost your progress or suddenly receive inspiration from nowhere.]

They weren't combat skills but Izuku still found them useful. So when he hit thirteen he decided to grind his combat skills to an even higher level. This ended up leading him to one chance encounter.

It was just another peaceful morning in Musutafu. The sun was out the sky was clear and a slight breeze filled the air. It was a nice place to live and in the case of Izuku Midoriya a nice place to train.

*Smack*

The green-haired boy's fist struck a tree hard. He bounced keeping his stance light and his arms raised. Izuku had been outside for over an hour already he believed it was finally time to truly start training his combat abilities. Before he only focused on staying and getting in shape something with much effort he had achieved, he knew that he would need to know how to fight. Mentally it had been ages since he had trained any sort of fighting skills that he hadn't picked up online but actually been taught in person. Plus he had been so busy prepping for the future that he didn't have any time or money for true classes.

Helping raise the girls and supporting Inko wherever he could was practically a full-time job, and learning more about this world was already time-consuming enough. Plus the songs he'd been rewriting were prepared and he had even taken the time to completely map out the area. After all, he still wanted to get one for all. To do that he had searched and searched for the exact bridge he would need to go under to meet the number one hero. On top of that, he had been studying his ass off to give himself the highest grades possible.

Even without a quirk Izuku had managed to maintain his position at the top of his class his whole life. On top of that he even made a little extra cash tutoring and selling a few exam answers. He wasn't proud of it but it was a decision he had to make. Under normal circumstances, it was something he would never do but if it meant putting more money into Inko's pocket then he would do it. The woman had raised him and treated him and his sister with a level of love and care only a mother could give. Even though Himiko wasn't her own daughter she had treated her just as any good mother would her own child.

*Crack*

Izuku stuck the tree again the sound echoing through the vacant park. He sighed his deadline for gaining enough power to become a real hero was coming up. For thirteen years he did what he could but it wasn't enough in his eyes. The system AI still hadn't awakened although his physique was good his training was average at best and although he was smart he still had no idea what would be in the written part of the exam.

*Crack*

He struck another aggravated blow on the tree. His skin didn't tear thanks to his resistance skill which he developed by starting this very type of training. But even then although he twisted his waist with each blow and followed exactly what he remembered from the countless YouTube videos he'd watched it just wasn't enough.

"Damn." He sighed maybe it was time he stopped worrying about all that. It was Saturday and he had come out early for his morning run the one part of his training regimen that he never made the girls join him in. Although he said it was because they didn't want to in truth he knew that was just a lie he told himself. In reality, even he needed some alone time, and spending all his time basically parenting kids wasn't exactly the most fun experience. Izuku shook his head and prepared another strike but before he could release it a voice interrupted him.

"Your stance is too narrow lad make your legs a little wider and remember that your power comes from your legs." The voice said and strangely Izuku wasn't alarmed instead he simply made the adjustment and threw the strike. The blow swept through the air faster than any other punch Izuku had ever thrown. When his fist struck the tree it sounded like an explosion. The tree cracked and shook with vibrations.

Izuku's eyes widened and he dropped his stance. He raised his hand and stared at it with awe. There was no pain and no bruising yet he had just released a strike strong enough to damn near break a tree in half.

"Wow thank your si~ wait a minute who?" Izuku turned around and his mind went black. Behind him was a man he recognized not because they had met before but rather because he had left an unforgettable impression in his mind. The man standing before him appeared to be a helpless old man but in reality, he was by far the most dangerous thing Izuku had ever encountered in this world.

The man had his beard, mustache, and ponytail. He was wearing a traditional man's kimono and a pair of geta and in his stretched earlobes were two piercings. Izuku's jaw dropped and he almost reflexively activated his analysis skill on the old man and his panel appeared next to him in Izuku's vision.
