Chapter 37 - His Death

(Note: Due to the death of Lu-hanzhou, Lu-min is now the speaker)

. . . . Uhhh, where am I? Why am I in the inn . . . oh, yeah, those guys beat the hell out of me. I was about to get up when Wang-min walked in with blankets in her hands. Immediately she saw me, she dropped the blanket and hugged me.

"It has been a week, you know," she said, trying to hold back tears.

Wang-min was normally dressed in her expensive Ming royal robes, but she was looking different.

"Why are you dressed like Lu-li?" I asked.

Then she said she noticed she was getting attention when dressed in fancy clothes, so she just took on the dress style.

"You sure? Cause this is looking pretty attractive to me," I said playfully.

"Really? Tell me all about it," she said with a hot gaze.

"Hey Wang-min, do you have the blanket with you?" Lu-li said as she walked through the corridor.

(Not that I didn't want to see Lu-li, but she could have come when I wasn't about to get busy.)

She saw me awake and came closer with an emotional look on her face, and then she hit me on my head.

"Why didn't you wake up sooner, you idiot?" she said angrily. Like if I can control something like that.

"So, how is the sect doing?" I asked, but they didn't have the expression I was expecting.

"A lot of things have changed around the sect. Mostly after what happened to you and . . ." Lu-li explained and suddenly stopped.

Wait, don't tell me. I asked Lu-li if Lu-hanzhou won his trial and she said he did.

"Then what happened to him?" I asked, trying not to let out anger.

Lu-li was about to say something, but she ended up in tears. Why . . . why is she crying? My anger was starting to turn into fear. Wang-min consoled Lu-li and said to me, "Lu-hanzhou . . . is dead." . . . . .

Is . . . is this a joke or what? Cause it isn't funny. No, that can't be possible, Hanzhou would never let himself die. I told them to prove it cause there was no way I was accepting this. They took me to Lu-hanzhou's room. I looked at the door having hope that he was asleep or he just woke up and would be staring right back at me. I was about to turn the door knob with so much thought going on in my mind when . . . Lu-li suddenly held my hand.

She then gave me a face mask saying I would need it. I told her I don't need it and that she should use it herself, but she said she wasn't going in—I guess she can't handle this kind of mental stuff. I wore the face mask, built up courage, and turned the door knob.

There he was, lying lifelessly on a bed . . .

No, this can't be real. I threw the face mask away and rushed to where his body was.

"Hey idiot, stand up already! They are starting to think you are dead," I said as I held his hand . . . what is this, his skin was so light and cold.

I couldn't lie to myself any longer. I stood up and left, trying to hide my emotions from Wang-min and Lu-li. I walked out speechless, forcing myself not to think. Then a messenger met me and said the elders of the Blue Moon Sect have sent for me. What do those old bastards want at a time like this? If I didn't meet with them, it would bring more trouble upon the sect, so I had to go.

I got to the elders' parlour and they were all seated, staring at me. Looks like this is going to be a long discussion. I greeted the elders and asked what the matter was, but the first thing they told me was to take a seat. I calmly sat down, then one of the elders said, "As we all know, one of the greatest lords of the Blue Moon Sect's history has died. But we shouldn't spend time mourning his death; rather, we need a new lord."

"So you just want to forget everything about him and just move on?" I asked angrily.

"We all know you were close to Lu-hanzhou, but we can't just stay without a lord. You should know that without a sect lord, we are not a sect," another elder said.

But I got angrier: "How dare you call your lord by his name!" I said to the elder.

"He is no longer our lord cause he is dead. Do you think we have time for your emotions? You should know us elders by now. We could have just taken over the sect now that Lu-hanzhou is no more, but we need you, who is strong enough to take care of the doom that is about to fall upon us," the Chief Elder said.

"Doom? What doom?" I asked the Chief Elder what he was talking about, and he explained that Gu-baixing is dead and the Mystic Mountain Sect proclaimed that he was killed by Lu-hanzhou, and if Gu-chengli who is now the leader of the Jianxu Council, should find out about the death of Lu-hanzhou, he would decide who the new lord of the Blue Moon Sect would be.

How did all of this happen in just one week? Hanzhou's trial, me getting beaten up and entering a coma, Gu-baixing's death, and now Gu-chengli is the leader of the Junxu Council. Lu-hanzhou, I can't do this without you, just come back already.

In the Mystic Mountain Sect — The Royal Court

(Gu-chengli speaking)

Hmm, looks like everything is going according to plan. Now that the Six Sword Lords have done their work and Lu-hanzhou is dead, all that is remaining is for me to use my power as the leader of the Council to put the Blue Moon Sect under my control and I would just need to deal with that rebellious Jade Mist Sect.

As I walked around my court, Li-xiaoyan intentionally ran into me and said, "I heard that you are now the leader of the Junxu Council. What are you going to do to Hanzhou?"

Wow, she still cares about him.

I said to her with a smile on my face, "You know, the last time I met him, he was here in the Mystic Mountain Sect, and I thought he approached me cause he would like to talk to you, but he told me . . . . He doesn't care about you anymore . . . . dead or alive."

She stood still, trying to remove all the thoughts from her head and trying to believe I was lying, then I told her that she knows deep down, it was true. I left her there to face her issues and was about to leave, and then I remembered "Oh, I almost forgot to tell you . . . . . Lu-hanzhou . . . . . is dead," I said, and left.
