Chapter 40 - I Give Up

(Note: Lu-Hanzhou now continues to be the speaker)

(..... Han ..... Hanzhou ..... You ..... can... do it * & * -- Wake * -- Wake Up!)

In his demonic chamber

Hanzhou: Huh, finally fixed up my soul. Good thing a drop of dark energy got into my soul after the fight with those bastards from the Mongol, if not I'll be dead.

Inner Demon: Yes, good thing. Now I can take your body.

Hanzhou: Yeah, about that. I forgot to ask. Why am I chained up?

Inner Demon: You are dead. You made a soul out of dark energy which means the dark energy absorbed your soul or should I say, makes up your soul which means I possess your soul. All I need to do is kill your soul and take your body.

Hanzhou: If I remember clearly, demonic cultivators who got to this situation used a technique called the "Demonic Command" to force their inner demons to do things.

Inner Demon: Correct, but you haven't practiced it, and who doesn't practice it for more than a month cannot do it.

Hanzhou: Why should I practice when I could just use the formula. All I need to do is control dark energy with demonic qi to let out a command like this:

"GIVE ME BACK MY BODY"

I woke up inside a dark box. I kicked off the cover and noticed... I was in a casket. How long has it been for them to think I was dead? I was out for just about five minutes. Woah, all the scars from my fight with those Mongol bastards are all gone. That inner demon is awesome. Too bad he couldn't get my body. Time to tell Lu-Min everything...

I can't stand up. Oh come on, why am I so heavy? Could it be the poison from that Lightning Dragon Seal? No matter what, I shouldn't let them find out about the seal or they'll get too worried.

Now, how do I get out... There is no use, my legs won't move. How come my hands move but my legs don't? Now, I can't do my surprise for Lu-Min. I should just call for help.

"Help, Help!" I shouted, but no one answered. What time is it, why is no one in the court? I kept shouting for help but no one answered. I decided to rest, but this position was not comfortable. I got frustrated and yelled:

"HHEELLPPP!" Wait, I hear someone coming. Lu-Min rushed into the room like if I was a thief or something.

"Umm, could you help me out of this coffin?" I said to Lu-Min with a smile.

Lu-Min just stood there staring at me as if he saw a ghost. (Yeah, cause he did) "Wow, you've finally come back." (Speak for yourself. An M.C who always dies) "You say it as if I want to die."

Lu-Min still kept staring at me and it was getting tiring. "Lu-Min!" I shouted to get his attention.

"Oh yeah, yes!" he said looking confused. Lu-Min got me out of the coffin and helped me to my room. He kept looking at my skin so I smacked his head and said, "You have a wife, go look at her without a shirt, not me, okay?"

Lu-Min then asked me how my body came back together. I asked him what he meant by that, and then he said that my body had decayed. I told him that a human's body does not decay seven minutes after death.

Then he said, "What do you mean five minutes? You have been dead for a month."

What! But wait... I was in that inner demon chamber for not more than five minutes. How could it be when I was fixing my soul? What does it matter, I am alive now, so and that is all that matters.

I heard Wang-Min's and Lu-Li's voice coming from the corridor... Wait, Lu-Li is coming. I begged Lu-Min to hide me somewhere so that Lu-Li doesn't hit me.

"She won't hit you, she would understand that you are in a crucial situation," he said confidently. What a dumb lie, I need help, someone help.

Lu-Li and Wang-Min came into the room and saw me. Lu-Li lost balance out of shock, but luckily Wang-Min caught her before she could fall.

"Is this a dream?" Lu-Li asked. Then Lu-Min told her that it was really me.

"Can you take me closer to my brother?" Lu-Li asked Wang-Min. Wang-Min then helped Lu-Li closer to me. No, no, she is going to send me back to the grave. I closed my eyes to accept my fate, when suddenly, I felt a tear drop on my head.

Wait, was Lu-Li crying? I opened my eyes and saw my sister cry for the first time. She then hugged me so tight that I thought I was going to cry. (Wow, so you do have emotions) Don't ruin the moment.

"I knew you would come back... cause you know, if you didn't, I'll go to hell and beat you up to life," she said so calmly, making it frightening.

"You look like you're in bad shape, I'll go get the doctor," Wang-Min said as she stood up to leave. I told her there was no need for that, all I need is rest, but Lu-Li insisted we get a doctor. What if the doctor finds out about the seal? No, a mere doctor won't be able to detect such a high-grade seal.

The doctor came and ran some tests and said I was fine, all I needed was rest. See, I'm fine.

"Then after his rest, we will have to deal with the main matter at hand," the doctor said with all seriousness.

"What are you talking about?" Lu-Li asked the doctor.

"As you can see, the lord's legs are still paralyzed due to a high-grade seal called the Lightning Dragon Seal. An ancient seal used in the Mongol that binds the core of a cultivator with chains. When a cultivator who is sealed uses a technique, he will be electrocuted and his core will have a crack. If the poison spreads all over his core, he won't be able to use Qi or energy ever again," the doctor explained.

Why did he have to explain so much? I could have bribed him in time to shut his mouth.

"So how do we cure the poison?" Lu-Min asked the doctor.

"There are only two ways. Either a medical master cures him or we remove his core to prevent the poison from killing him."

Remove my core? No way, get that evil doctor away from me.

"We have to find the medical master. Lu-Hanzhou needs his core to fight in this war!" Lu-Min said.

... War, fight, me. How do I break this down to Lu-Min? I can't go on fighting, no, I have to tell them the truth, I have to tell them my true feelings... even if it's just this once.

"I give up!" I said to Lu-Min.

Everyone stared at me confused at what I just said.

"What... what do you mean?" Lu-Min asked with fright.

"I can't. I can't go on. I can't continue fighting, I can't continue as the sect's lord, I can't continue as a demonic cultivator, I can't continue as a hero... I can't continue dying. I've died a lot of times, but I am never going to get used to it. My fear of death even increases the more I taste it. I can't go on, I am sorry, but... I give up," I explained.

"But we need you," Lu-Min said trying to get me back on track. "I can help you in a few things in the war, but I'll be leaving soon to find a doctor for my core..."

"This is our war, not my war. You aren't doing this for me, you started this war, not me. I can't handle our war alone!" Lu-Min said trying to hold back his anger.

I didn't know what to say, so I just prevented more arguments and said, "Guys, could you give me some time to rest?" Lu-Min was obviously angry, but Lu-Li was able to convince him to leave.

Aaah! What the heck am I doing? I feel as if I am wrong, but I really can't continue like this. I'm sorry Lu-Min, but you would have to manage on your own from now...
