Chapter 1 - why are we forced to suffer

The gentle warmth of the sun was beginning to return to the city, which had experienced another grim night.

One could glimpse dejected, staggering figures, seemingly suffering endlessly and drained of all life; this could be felt in their entire bodies and beings.

In the sonic haze of growling that enveloped the entire city, a cat passed by and was chased by these beings devoid of all life.

As the animal advanced, the sounds of the prowler diminished, signifying that they were moving away.

From this opening, a young man wearing clothes in poor condition and covered in mud, observed the scene from afar with his two eyes, like binoculars.

"Dawn! Manhattan has become much more agile... Maybe because I'm feeding him well."

Footsteps were heard behind him; it was a prowler. His stomach was ripped open, his organs spilling onto the ground. He was groaning with difficulty because his throat had been torn out.

Surprisingly, the young man didn't seem worried about the situation; it was almost as if he were used to it. So, very calmly, he pulled a dagger from his White sweatshirt, although this one was stained with mud and dried blood,He stepped firmly towards him and pierced his rotting skull, letting bits of brain and drops of blood spill onto him and the ground.

"No way! My sweater wasn't exactly pristine to begin with, and now I have to add this!"

He turned back to where his objective was, sighed, and climbed down the hill where he had been standing.

Upon arriving at the city, he began to swear; he didn't have many clothes, and the few he still owned were extremely worn.

"I hope to find affordable and sustainable clothing"

Advancing little by little, he found a shop, almost empty, certainly, but with some provisions; that was already a lot.

Before entering, he looked behind him one last time to avoid being surrounded by those monsters; good news, the stalkers were lurking far away from him.

With a slight smile, he slipped easily into the store, passing under the half-open door and making as little noise as possible.

He took a flashlight out of his bag and began scanning the inside of the store to spot any possible disaster attack.

Confirming that there was nothing and no one there, he opened his bag to assess the situation and began searching for useful items.

The store he entered wasn't particularly specialized; it was a general store, like many others found in Cameroon, so it could carry medicines...From canned goods to cosmetic products

However, his search was not fruitful; most of the things he found were just shoe brushes, sewing thread, sweets, and many other useful things in life Everyday, but not in the conditions he found himself in.

Despite everything, he found a couple of things that would be useful to him, including adhesive tape, soap, three or four bottles of water, a few lighters....It was very complicated to manage; what should he take and what should he leave behind, considering the possibility of not being able to return?

"I didn't find many canned goods but there are quite a few useful items, what should I take?!!"

He sat for a moment, trying to take stock of what he needed to bring back as a priority. After pondering for a mere five minutes, he finally decided on his priorities.

But before he could start gathering his tools, a hand touched his shoulder, causing him to miss a beat.
